The red doe tiptoed towards the scent of her wolf, picking up her pace just a little to dart from tree to tree whenever she was out in the open. Both ears were pricked up and constantly swiveling in their sockets to catch any and every sound, on high alert for the slightest hint of danger. Normally she was fairly vigilant, but not as much as she was now - she had another life to protect.
At the thought, she stopped by a tree and her yellow gaze flickered to the side to settle onto her swollen belly. A smile immediately spread across her face, her eyes replacing their sharpness with gentleness. It was certainly no secret that she was more than excited to give life to Beren's child. Although she was aware of the pain she'd have to go through to bring the little one into the world - she had spoken to Waarhijd recently, and was told of the butterfly doe's own experiences as well as helpful advice - the red doe was willing to go through anything that would ensure the child's safe arrival.
Cervena resumed her slowish pace after another moment of dwelling in memory, only stepping forward a little faster when a wave of eagerness came over her. She wanted to see Beren's reaction once she came into view - her pregnancy was no longer subtle. Their wish for a family was finally coming true, and a brief grin flashed upon Cervena's features.
Suddenly he was within view, and the red doe increased her pace. Her heart began to beat rapidly and a smile made its way onto her narrow muzzle.
A familiar voice calling him had his ears perked up in a second. It didn't take long until he noticed a sight that made his heart skip a beat before he set off on his feet and rushed towards his mate. However, with each step that carried him closer to Cervena made the wolf realize that something wasn't quite right. She looked somehow different.. Bigger, perhaps? It made the wolf wonder a bit, but he was never the less excited and happy to see his beloved lady again. A wide smile spread across his muzzle as he rushed forward.
"Love!"
With a firm touch he brushed his cheek against Cervena's soft neck fur, inhaling her scent which made him feel warm inside. Gazing through the skull sockets were two crimson eyes set on the female's swollen belly. Thoughts and doubts started to gather inside Beren's head. He took a step closer and gave it a gentle sniff. What was that? The wolf pulled back again and gave Cervena a silent glance, patiently waiting for an answer.
Cervena's smiling lips parted in a grin to see Beren rushing towards her, and she leaned into his touch. She'd missed the feeling of his fur against hers, the feeling of safety she always had while with him, and his warmth. Her cheek lovingly nuzzled into his neck. She turned her head around and watched him sniff her belly, and then looked at his face once he pulled away. Her grin hadn't disappeared, and her eyes reflected her joy.
"Beren... I'm carrying your child."
The red doe leaned forward and licked his skull. Her heart raced, her gaze unable to pull away from him. She had been waiting for this moment ever since she realized what was happening to her.
Beren's heart started racing as Cervena told the news. Even after seeing the change in her appearance the wolf could not believe that such thing could be true. That was something beyond what he had expected to ever become.
"T-that's.. That's the best news!"
Beren took off his skull and let it lay on the ground. Behind the mask was hidden a smile that stretched widely across his muzzle.
"I'm so happy."
But happy could not cover it. He simply didn't find any other word that could describe how he felt right now. He stretched his neck and gently poked Cervena's belly with his wet nose, giving it a couple of licks before softly brushing his muzzle against his mate's fur again. He felt like there could be no other moment happier than this one, nor any other place he'd like to stay at rather than next to his mate.

A short breeze blew through the grass, ruffling Alice's feathers in the slightest. She shifted in her place, finding a more comfortable position to be in. For some reason, she felt slightly nervous around the wolf in this moment. "Hey," her voice was kind in tone. Flicking her ears to the right slightly, Ali decided a polite question was in place. "How are you doing today?"

The wolf was never the first to speak when it came to starting conversations of sorts, he preferred to keep quiet company. Ears rotated towards Alice as her voice broke the silence. "Good, what about you?" A short reply was given.

Alice smiled instinctively at his words under her mask, making her ears perk forwards a little. "Great. Oh er I'm okay, I guess. Had a tough day yesterday. But everything's better now." There was a pause. "... oh yeah, sorry about leaving so soon yesterday. I wish I could've met your son, I just thought Morgul was in danger. So yeah, had to leave fast..."
Beren nodded in response to her words, feeling content to be assured that everything was fine after yesterdays events. Crimson gaze shifted upon Alice's own eyes from behind black bangs that covered the skull sockets of the wolf's mask. An apology was just what he was expecting to get in the first place. "Don't worry about it, I understand." Satisfied, Beren pulled a faint smile behind his mask. "I'm glad to hear that you're doing better." He added within a few moments of silence, then fell silent again.
