The Fairytale: Interactive Storytelling {CSS}

I would like to thank all of you who took the time to become involved in The Fairytale, either through this blog or by interacting with my characters in The Forest. Without all of you the story could never have been laid to rest. Thank you! Smiling

A Fairytale

Author's Note (Nov 10th, 2010): The story of Hook, Line, and Sinker is finally complete. Smiling

Author's Note: One year ago I started a story. That story told the unfortunate tale of three characters for whom it was named. The 'Hook Line Sinker' Fairytale was and still is one of the longest stories I've composed and yet, it was ordained to be so much more. In honor of the characters themselves, and the wonderful community members who stood by me and supported me so amazingly, I continue the story, as it was meant to be told.

Artist/Request Etiquette

The Endless Forest has a lot of amazing artists, lets face it, we have some seriously talented members. Many of these members are gracious enough to accept requests of their art work. Sadly, as with anything, when there is a chance of getting something for free, respect and polite behavior can get thrown by the wayside. I've seen this happening a bit so I figured I'd blog about it.

How to Request Art
Asking for art isn't all that different than asking for anything else, but here are a few tips that can smooth over the process;

-Be polite! The artist is doing this for free, but they should be getting your respect.

-Stop and Read! Don't jump when you read the words "Taking Requests!" take a minute to read through what the artist is offering. They might have restrictions or a form you need to fill out for them with relevant information.

-Respect the List! If an artist has only opened so many slots, do not ask anyway. If they have a waiting list, this is fine, but don't ask to be 'squeezed in'.

-Supply Details! Don't just throw your hand in the air and shout "ME!" Compose your comment and give the artist all the information they need, link to a reference or biography page.

The Different Types
There are four main ways to get art for yourself;

-The Gift Art: This is given to you as a gift. You do not ask for this.

-The Request: You ask for an artist to make something for you and they do so for free.

-The Art-Trade: Much like a request but you return the favor by making art in return.

-The Commission: Much like a request but you are paying the artist to produce art for you.

As both artists and those seeking art, be clear about what you are offering. I see the term 'commission' getting used a lot when really people mean 'requests' and this is a huge difference; one that can lead to people getting confused/ripped off!

Glossary of Terms: A 'What's What' of Forest Words and Phrases!

I've compiled this list of words and terms in the hopes of educating newer members and to prevent confusion.
Please click 'Read More' for complete glossary.

If you have a word of phrase you would like to see added, please comment with it and a description.
Alternatively, if you've stumbled across a Forest Term and don't know what it means, post it here, and we'll sort out a description for you! Smiling

Guidelines: On Writing, roleplaying, and basic concepts

{The author of this blog is originally the player Bylah. This was re-posted by request, since it's such a valuable community resource and we didn't want it lost.}

Fan-Service Poll!

edit: Art this way! 8D
edit: The results are in!

A. Pirate: 11 Votes
B. Cowboy 7 Votes
C. Gangster 2 Votes
D. Serial Killer 5 Votes

So it seems Piracy is rather popular and seeing as how it beat all other themes into the dust, it wins! Pirate-Queze will be forthcoming sometime later today (or tomorrow, if I mess it up and have to start again xD)

New game!

Ladydoes and Gentlestags, are you irritated by Devout Pelt spammers?
Is the Red Idol Pelt just not fashionable enough for you?
Looking for a fun, frustration-less solution?!
Look no farther!

Presenting: Devouter Baiting!

Step 1: Dress your deer in their favorite set (or no set at all!)
Step 2: Wait for an irritating group of Devout Spammers to disturb your Idol enjoyment.
Step 3: Wait until the accused gather a spell.
Step 5: Quickly, slide the 'show other players' slider off, via the game menu.
Step 4: Sit back and laugh at they race back to the Idols again and again, confused and frustrated!

Tera is an evilevil player...but I regret nothing >8D

(On a serious note, for newer players, the casting of the Devout Spell causes serious lag for many players and can even crash their game. If you cast on someone and they shake their head no, please respect this and not do it again! Thank you.)

Pelts, Antlers, Masks, and Our Interpritaions of Them (May 10: New Spells!)

We all know that a deers' appearance influences how we expect them to act towards us, and even think about us in The Forest. The question is, how do you respond to certain pelts, antlers, masks, or sets? Do certain pelts constantly remind you of something? Or perhaps you associate certain spells with certain personality types.

Here are a few images of spells (gathered from Moss's amazing Selector blogs).
Take a moment to look at each and comment with what your first impressions are of each spell. Don't stress about it, or think too long, simply the first emotion or personalty you think of!

EDIT: MAY 10, 2011: Four New Spells for You All to Review! Have Fun!

Character Interaction Blog (Closed for now)

This blog is a place where you can role-play with several of my characters either via your own characters, or as yourself.
Feel free to ask them questions or any other sort of content you can think of.
If you would like to request an un-listed character for interaction, feel free to do so.

{UPDATE: RP and interactions are closed for now, I'll update this blog again when they reopen.}

We Have a Search Bar

I'd just like to point out/reminds players that this site not only has a
search bar that can be used to search for both usernames AND any sitewide content
but it also a
page with all the information on Forest Magic right there already.

If you have a question, or are trying to find something please, take a few minutes and try to find it yourself.

Not angry, I'd just like to see people using this instead of getting loads of blogs asking the same question when it's been answered somewhere on the site already.
