"Question me if you wish, but remember..."

Thanks again to Mr. Sanguine for the awesome drawing!

"...your words may come back to harm you..."

I'd like to try to develop my new baddie, Noctuis, some more, so please feel free to ask him some questions. You can ask as many as you'd like Eye

Noctuis is an infectious owl much like Iugulare, and is featured in Ebony and Ivory, both the story and role play parts of the series.

Ask away Eye

For my reference, Noctuis speaks in #9AFEFF

Sanguine Celebration (Mr. Sanguine)

The table was set. The decorations...perfect. The lighting, afternoon shades of orange. A perfect hue for a perfect tea party.

Six places were set here around the stump of a large tree. One for him. Five for the others. Each place was set with a white teacup, except for his, which was adorned with a red teacup. The tea was already poured for them. In the center were various hors d'oeuvres, special pinecones and mushrooms to be exact, for them to eat at the party.

And here they arrive, five guests brought to his table, their heads all adorned with candles.

Jorogumo, the lady of the night, dressed in white and crowned in black.
Amazon, the fawn of nature's splendor, with eyes bright and face beautifully smiling.
Kaoori, the little mother, in blue regalia adorned with stars of gold.
Wesker, the bone king, his body reflecting death itself in black and bone.
And finally, Nekumbra, the spider doe, in golden fur and brown arachnid legs.

The five come and sit at the table. The stage was set. Let the festivities begin.

"I have gathered you all here for a special ceremony.", Mr. Sanguine speaks, "Above us, the moon glows in crimson, the beckoning time for all who serve the Autumnal Equinox. For you see, this moon is unlike the others in the sky. It is known as the Hunter's Moon, the Blood Moon, or for the purposes this afternoon, the Sanguine Moon.", he smiles here.

"This afternoon is a festival of many things. Change, balance, remembrance...but there is also a hidden meaning to why they call it the Hunter's Moon. For you see, those who hunted and preyed upon the victims of early times used an afternoon like this for opportunity. They would track down their prey in the twilight hours, taking the very lives of those who were worthy of sustaining them through the winter months."

The guests looked to one another, unsure what this even meant.

~Chapter 5: Threshold~

The Endless Forest was on the brink of war. Sides had been taken, those who trusted Iugulare to her word, and those who were manipulated by Noctuis. Black infection covered those who sided with the stoat, where white infection was given to those of the owl. Many deer fled, who wished to have no part in the conflict. The others were inducted to one faction or the other.

Even Michael and Auriea began to bicker between themselves, one god favoring Iugulare, the other seeing Noctuis' arrival as a way to defeat the stoat for good. It soon led to the two vanishing into their own dimension to settle the argument, leaving the Endless Forest unprotected...godless...

It was here the war started. First skirmishes between small groups, a few infected with whiteness that attacked unsuspecting members of Iugulare's army; those with the black infection stealthily overtaking Noctuis' soldiers, and many ending in stalemates with the opposing forces wearing each other down to where they collapsed in exhaustion. Quite often, a member of one army would find them, and quickly overtake the enemy.

There were no casualties in this war, but rather one infected by the opposing virus would be turned. Where an infected of Iugulare's was defeated, their black infection would be engulfed by the white covered by their enemy, and soon they would be brothers in viral arms.

Eventually, these minor conflicts merged, both sides regrouped and stared down their enemy between the trees of the Birch Forest. Iugulare and Noctuis themselves were there, and it was Noctuis that ordered the attack that led to the devastating war. Deer charged, clashing, biting, kicking, infecting.

Together Forever (Snowshoe)

The caribou walked along, his eyes watching the birds and trees as he passed them by. He smiled at the nature around him here. The Forest was a beautiful place, he was happy to have found such a lovely land.

As he walked, a root caught his hoof. He tripped over it, and his antlers collided with a tree close by. As he straightened up, he realized he had scratched into the tree, leaving a deep in the bark. It was already starting to seep resin.

"Oh I am so sorry! Here, let me help you...", Snowshoe spoke, and using his hooves, he collected dirt from the ground and packed it in the scratches. He did his best to mend the tree so it would be just as beautiful as it was before he tripped.

Happy with his good deed, he continued on. But as he walked, he heard a whisper in the wind. "Snowshoe...I love you, Snowshoe..."

"Hmm?", he looked around, unsure where the voice was coming from. He kept going, his eyes scanning around in case he heard it again.

"Snowshoe...you are my one love..."

The caribou jumped and looked around once again. There was no deer close by. He must be imagining things.

But he felt vines crawling up his legs. Looking down, he saw different plants blooming beneath his hooves. Jumping, he ran, the vines breaking but entangling his legs as they held on. He ran as far as he could, the voice continuing to call him.

"Snowshoe...come back, Snowshoe...come back..."

He wasn't watching where he was going, and his hoof tripped over a root.

He had run in circles. As he raised his head, he saw the tree that he had scratched, but only this time, it had different markings that had been cut into the bark.

His pictogram.

The caribou was unable to get up in time, as the grass and vines entangled him. He struggled to break free, but he was engulfed and pulled closer to the tree.

The Curse of Lupus (Kaoori)

On any other night, she was as all knew her to be. The blue shika doe, her mate the great Wesker, the one all treasured. But on certain nights, when the sky was clear, when the constellation Lupus was in full view, shining starlight upon the doe, she was not herself. No longer was she a doe...she was a demon...

Those nights, Kaoori would steal away from Wesker. She knew about the curse that was bestowed upon certain deer, though only through word of mouth. Those whose herd made a bloodoath with wolf tribes, those who let the most beautiful young does be sacrificed to the wolf gods so that the rest of the herd would be spared...those who disobeyed the pact were cursed on nights like these.

One of Kaoori's ancestors was selected for the ritual, but instead the doe fled, and breaking the oath she damned herself as well as her descendants to the Lupine curse.

This night, Kaoori's teeth grew sharp. Her eyes went black. Her hooves turned to paws. Her body arched and reshaped.

She let out a howl that chilled the souls of the deer around. They thought their Forest was safe. They were wrong...dead wrong...

There were old fairytales that mothers would tell their fawns to make them sleep through the night. The legends told were of wolves that hunted little fawns in the night who stayed up past their bedtimes. The does always thought the old stories were made-up, but this night...

A young fawn wandered off for a drink of water. He left the safety of his mother and found himself alone at the Pond. Bending down, he lapped water, and when he looked at his reflection, he saw a second shadow behind him.

It was too late to run.

The snarling wolf-doe caught him in her jaws, sinking her fangs into his back until it popped. The fawn cried out in sheer agony, but once the deed was done, he no longer felt his body.

Ebony and Ivory

~Chapter 1: Arrival~

A meteor drifted through space for what seemed to be an eternity. Within the protection of the stone was a lifeform, an alien known as a Goxi. His body was pure white and flowed like liquid, he could shape into any animal he wished. But there was much more to him than these simple facts.

He was a virus, an infection. His species lived on a planet countless miles away called Venterm, and they had the thriving desire to study all the living creatures of the universe, and ultimately create harmony and balance throughout the cosmos. But there were some of this species that realized their bodies' potential. They could infect other creatures, control their minds, even kill them. Those who lived this destructive lifestyle were exiled from the planet, for there was no room for the violent or the wicked on Venterm. The Goxi had cast out one such member of their society before.

Her name was Iugulare.

The creature within this meteor was another wicked soul, but the Goxi elders trusted him to carry out a mission for them in exchange for freedom from persecution. They sent him to the planet where Iugulare had landed, and instructed him to observe Iugulare, to find out what she has been doing in exile, and if necessary, to kill her.

This creature had a long time to think about these orders from the so-called 'elders'. He knew what Iugulare was doing, as cruel minds think alike.

I need a vote! (new baddie!)

Something I had been considering is introducing another baddie that would not necessarily join the Deadly Trio. In fact, it would be the same species as Iugulare (but would appear as a different animal than a stoat), and had landed on Earth a long time ago. When it finally finds the Endless Forest, Iugulare becomes bitter that there is another infectious alien on the planet, and the two start to become rivals.

I may start that up pretty soon, it may either be a story or a RP.

I was trying to think of another animal that is considered sly or sneaky like a stoat or a weasel is (what Iugulare is), but it doesn't necessarily have to be that. It could essentially be any kind of animal.

I also was considering it landed on the planet close to one of the poles, so it is more accustomed to cold weather and thus may be more familiar with colder animals. But that's not a requirement. I'd really like the animal to be white or albino.

As far as personality, it will act similarly to Iugulare in the fact that it wants to dominate the world, but it will be more calm and collected where Iugulare is more rash and impatient.

And as always, one of my favorite themes may pop up ~ Quad and Iugulare teaming up to fight a common foe.

So here are the animals I had in mind so far, but feel free to suggest other animals:

Alright so we got...

1 - goat
0 - fox
0 - polar bear
0 - horse
1 - lion
5 - boar/warthog
7 - snowy owl
2 - snake
1 - opossum
1 - numbat
1 - red river hog
2 - aardwolf
1 - north american cacomistle
3 - fossa
1 - penguin
1 - Archaeopteryx

So please comment what animal you think my new baddie would be great as. Or if you have a different suggestion, please feel free to share!

[b]We decided on a snowy owl!

~Blackbuck Teachings~

I'll work on this later, just thought I'd put it up for now for anyone who would like to track.

After Quad's experience as a tree, he has become enlightened and more at peace with his surroundings. Here he will speak his observations about the world around him.

Essentially he will have more of a philosophical side (since I am into Zen and Buddhism), and is no longer concerned with worrying about things as he did while the Rut was going on.

His posts will be very similar to Quad Hummingbird's poetry, who is currently on migration.

Fourth TEF Anniversary

Yep, it's official. Quad's 4 years old today XD

You know, someone once said that people on the internet aren't your real friends.

I beg to differ.

You are my best friends. Each and every one of you.

I've never had better, more loving and caring friends.

I've never had people to relate to like you guys.

I've never had a place where my writing and poetry could grow and be appreciated until here.

I've never felt so welcome, supported, and accepted than here.

I don't know what it is about this place, whether it's just an escape from the chaos and violence of the real world, or whether it's a community of simply amazing people, or both...

But I love all of you so much. You are like the feathers on Quad's wings, without you he couldn't fly.

Thank you all for being such wonderful people, thank you so much.

For being here when I needed help

For enjoying my writing, poetry, and events

For all the artwork and stories you have made for me

For endless love and support

And for being you.
