Return to Nature - Story X

Return to Nature Index

The next few days you have felt very enlightened. Your work has been much more productive, and your friends have enjoyed your company a little more than normal. You are home one day, and sitting in your favorite chair, you turn on the television.

Flipping through the channels, you stop on a channel that you never watch. There is a commercial on, with a voice talking about saving nature from being demolished, and what you can do to help. You normally don't pay attention to these kinds of commercials, but something was different about this one.

The commercial pans across a wide open field, where wildflowers of many colors blanket the place, and a gentle breeze makes them wave and sway beautifully. You slowly stop hearing the voice in the commercial, and closing your eyes, you hear your deer's voice, "Today, your life will change.", they say.

You open your eyes in response to the voice, and are surprised that you are standing in the wildflower field you were just watching. The flowers let off an intoxicating scent collectively, and it fills your lungs and makes your mind reminisce of a simple life. You notice a variety of insects crawl and flutter around this place.

It must be paradise for them. You see butterflies of all kinds land on the bountiful flowers, bees pollinating happily, beetles climbing the stalks and enjoying the leaves, dragonflies hovering above almost aimlessly, and many others. You know the insects will not bother you, so you walk into the flowers, letting your hands touch a few of them as you walk. You feel little bits of dew collect onto your hands - it must be an early morning here.

You then hear some of the flowers rustling. Stopping, you listen for it again. Are there predators out here? Are you in danger?

You then see your deer pop their head up from the flowers, looking at you with a mouthful of them.

A Reflection of New Consciousness and Bodily Being

I came to this world on a rainy day. Yes, that's what it's called... A rainy day.

At first, all the sensations of being alive were overwhelming, painful. But this body just stood there, staring at the ground as the rain watered down the blood coming from the antlers.

Who's blood? Was it the blood of the ones I had swallowed?

Ugh, emotions... So... Upsetting.

The head of this body managed to move itself away from the ground and used its eyes to look at the world. The eyes saw moving shapes, similar to the shape of this body. They ran, jumped, completely one with themselves.

Just like the ones still in this body.

The eyes came across a mass of collected water... A pond. This body moved towards it and came to stand in its cold shallows. The head moved down again, so that the eyes were looking at the water. They saw this body's reflection.... Mine....?

Yes, even if I didn't feel it, I rested within this body, and that means I posses it. Or, at least, that's how most living things see themselves.

I stared at it and saw a strange creature, not unrecognizable to me. A deer, it is called. A type of animal in some worlds, but this is a different world.

It was gray, with very large red antlers. Its face was mostly normal, except skull replaced fur and skin in the area around the eyes. Oh, and those eyes. One must think they are blind at first glance, with the gray pupils and irises lined with red.

Yes, this is also when I realized that there was blood dripping from those antlers. Tiny droplets fell slowly from the tips, meeting with their reflections to disappear into the water.

How do you Frollock? [bio]

Name: Frollock
Picto: X
Gender: Male
Hangout: Up a tree near a stump (Position: -107 x 63)

Pelt: Orca
Antlers: Real Deer
Mask: Real Deer
Spell: none

: Appearance ::
Frollock stands out stupidly in the forest- white and black contrasting on his pelt. He's a little goober compared to most deer, about the size of a large dog. He's also notably not a deer, but some kind of lanky, well, alien. Technically. No one calls him that though because, dude, how rude. His crazy hair is always sticking up, even when drenched with water, as if held up by some strange force. His tail ends in two metallic spokes; if absolutely necessary he can shoot lightening from them (yes, like a pokemon >.>). Even though he can do this, it's very impractical as he needs the energy used for that to live. He doesn't have a mouth, so no noms for him! He survives purely on electrical energy. That being noted, there aren't very many sources of this energy in the forest- mostly just the bits emitted from other living things... Lightening would be way too much energy at once.

: Personality ::
Frollock is generally shy, preferring to hole up in a tree alone than hang out on the ground with you weird "ground people." He has a few favorite trees in the darker (whatever it's called) forest, his favorite being the one noted above as his hangout. He collects and stores little trinkets in these trees (primarily pinecones). No one is allowed to see his pinecones. No one except, perhaps *deadperson*. He hates squirrels passionately. If you happen to be interacting with him and he runs off suddenly, he's probably chasing a squirrel. To kill. Yup. :q If you happen to be using a squirrel spell, I'd advise you stay the heck away from Frollock, for obvious reasons.

Hullo again. [And Goodbye again xD! Off to Devon for the week!]

The player stands and moves to the microphone.
So. I've been away a while.

It's been stuff- I've been very ill, on and off for the lat six months. Violent stomach pains triggered by stress. Of that, I've had spades. I've also had uni work to focus on, made some new, very important friends. Done some changing. For the better, I'd like to think.

I'm not going to make empty promises- I'm not going to say I'm back for good, that I'll post every spare minute of every day. But I'd like to check in now and again, when I can. I'm still very busy, and I'm still very sick. We're waiting to hear on the blood tests now.

(Also this is slightly ill timed because I'm going on holiday on sunday and won't be online for a week but, hey ho.)

I'd just like to let you all know that I'm still thinking about you all. Good things. I also have some ideas about the rut that I'd like to share; I very much enjoyed it last year, and I'd like to see it happen again, and I'll even volunteer to take the week or weekend to help with the co-ordination of it, if not the running itself.
But we can wait and see about that, I suppose. Take fawn's hoof-falls.

Just thought I'd check in, incase you wondered. It's good to see the place still so vibrant and alive, and working at the insurmountable pace it always did. I'm sorry if I can't always keep up anymore, but I still look at this place with pride.
