Ah~! I can't explain most of it because it sort of just fell into place naturally, but for some strange reason Malik feels protective over Panda and I think she considers him the closest friend she has due to the fact he's with her the vast majority of his - or her - time. They have this random bond. And I don't know how it exactly originated because Malik is so complex of a character I don't even understand him half the time. And he's so emotionless, it's hard to tell why exactly he's behaving this way around her of all deer.
That doesn't really make sense, does it? ^^;

He actually doesn't mind Ta's presence, mostly because Ta is just a fawn. There was one fawn earlier that approached Panda, and Malik didn't care, but when it cowered at him, he forced it to back away and it eventually ran when he ignored its efforts to put distance between itself and him. It was too submissive or something. I'm not sure what was going through Malik's mind at that moment. So he approached it every time it came towards Panda, and then it'd back away, and when Malik didn't stop, it'd run. This happened about three times, I think, until it was too frightened to come back. It eventually lost interest at the Ruins, though.
I don't know. But for reason I'm not sure of, he doesn't mind Ta &hearts
