Sparx- The End of Endless Forest?

Latte's picture
I usually start each of my tales with me waking up, or in the middle of doing something fun. Am I right? Well, Today I shall begin my story with what happened last night, the memories will haunt me forever..

I slammed my hooves into the earth coming to a stop. My head turned around frantically. It was night, and something was wrong with the forest. Everyone was missing. My not-so-excellent deer sight tried to see through the bushes for incoming predators, but I could see nothing. The sound of a pelt brushing against a branch. I bolted, my hooves carrying me across the ground like a hare. Adrenaleine pumped through my body , the only thing spurring me on. The trees rushed past and I realised my instincts had taken me to the big oak tree. It was the only place I usually felt safe. I ducked in under it and huddled up in my usual spot, peering through the cracks.

A low growl sounded from outside and the beasts began to circle my hiding spot. I scented the air and I could tell there were three of them. From my spot I could only see massive club like paws walking past the crack. If I didn't get out, they would kill me! I waited for the paws to go past again. And began to time myself.
One....Two....THREE!!
I shot out from the under the tree and charged into the forest, the beasts giving chase. I could hear their snarling splitting the usual silence of the night air. Their huge paws thudded on the ground behind me.
This is the bit where you expect me to trip over, or get snagged on a branch or vine.
But I didn't.
They caught up!

I could feel the hot breathe of the beasts on my haunches, then the thudding stopped and for one moment I thought they had gone. Then there was a stabbing pain in my back, claws ripping through my fur, piercing my skin, the pain shuddered through my whole body, but i twisted round and kicked out with my front hooves. It hit the beast SMACK in the eye.
Now I could see them. We were all standing in a wide meadow. The beasts looked like panthers, but huge. Their coats were as black as a rook's wing and their jaws drooled with saliva. The leader had demonic blood-red eyes, the pupil in the middle staring at me. The other two had sickly yellow eyes which were bright with bloodlust.

I turned and bolted and began to scream for help,
" Serenity! Latte! Anyone, help me! " I yelled and for some reason I said this " Mother, Father, Where are you? "
The beasts caught up and circled me and just when I thought it was all over a fawn stepped from the trees. It was Serenity.
" No..! " She gasped. I gasped too.
I realised she was dead. She had a glow surrounding her and she looked transparent and fragile against the moon's rays.
Latte appeared and so did several other deer.
" How..How did you all die? " I trembled.
Serenity said, " Those beasts killed us, Sparx. You are the last deer left in this forest, if you die the endless forest will die too. They want power "
I didn't know what to do as the beasts edged in closer. I turned to the ghosts, my eyes pleading for help. Suddenly, Latte ran at one of beasts and leapt into it. It froze, then began to sink its teeth into its own leg, ripping and tearing itself apart until it was left, bleeding on the grass. Latte stepped from the corpse.
The deer paused, then charged at the other yellow eyed predator. As soon as a ghost entered its body it began to kill itself. I wondered what was happening when a roar shook the forest. There was still one beast left.
The leader.
I thought it was all over. The beast advanced then from the heavens appeared three bright lights. They landed on the meadow and took form.
I gaped, the ghost deer gaped, the beast gaped.

Two deer-like creatures stood on the grass along with a wolf. I realised the wolf to be Accalia, the one from Latte and Serenity's story. She had thick grey fur and misty silvery eyes that gleamed as bright as the stars. As for the deer, they were hard to describe but here goes.
They were gods of course.

The female had a glassy-grey pelt and hooved legs. From the back of her neck was a mane, and where her short tail should be was a the long flowing tail of horse. Both the mane and tail were a glowing white and were being swept by an invisible wind. Her glowing white antlers extended into many twirled branches along her back to two huge , white feathered wings that protruded from her sides. Her mask was white and had long golden vines sprawled all over it, incredibly beautiful.

The male was strange compared to the other god. His legs were green and scaly which had three clawed toes at the end. His fur was thick and golden coloured. His mask was red and had the eyes and shape of a deer. Red antlers sprouted from his head, the long points reaching upwards. He had a long, green scaly tail which had a boney part on the end and his wings , which looked like a dragon's, were tucked neatly by his sides. Part-deer, part-dragon?

The golden deer god walked over to the dead deer slowly and calmly pointed his neck forwards, and from the hole in his mask where his mouth should be he let out a single breathe. And the dead deer suddenly started to change back into flesh and blood. He was performing the Breathe Of Life. Then the silver deer god walked over to the beast and placed her antlers on his forehead. His eyes widened and he fell to the floor, writhing in agony.
Accalia spoke in a heavenly voice that echoed in my head " He is experiencing the pain that every doe, stag and fawn felt when he killed them "
The beast let out a gasp then it roared and flopped his head to the side. Dead.
Then the most horrifying thing happened. Flames curled up from the ground and closed around the beasts' bodies and dragged their souls down into the ground, into hell. As this was happening a high pitched screaming filled the air making me wince and want to cry, but I stood brave. It finished and the forest was once again, still.
The golden god turned to me.
" Thank you for calling for our help, If you didn't, Sparx, the Endless forest would be...well...ended. " Then he vanished in a bright blue flash along with Accalia and the silver god.
I couldn't remember calling for their help, which was strange. Serenity nuzzled into my fur, she had been scared. As I nuzzled her back I suddenly remembered what I had said.
" Mother, Father, Where are you? "

-shiver- That was amazing.
