:.{In The Snow, She Calls For Him...}.:

She was shivering as she walked, through the deep snow and harsh wind. Her mask slipped away, the blue ribbon untying, and she could not even try to go back and seize it. Hazel eyes strained to see past the white, hurling snowflakes, and failed. A frightened cry escaped the doe.
"Where is he?"
She continued to walk, force herself through the freezing powdery snow, tears running down her face. "Jared!" She called, crying and begging him to come to her. "Jared! Where are you?"
Taliene collapsed in the Oak, welcoming its warmth and security. The humming of the old tree intensified, lulling the shivering doe into a peaceful sleep...

Meanwhile, a golden stag was running. He ran from the Birch Forest, panting and leaping and determined not to let the snow get the better of him. Red roses fell from his antlers, wilting where they lay, and were then blown away by the wind. His hooves scratched at the snow, and he was running at a speed that he would normally have found impossible in such weather. His body burning, the stag gasped in relief as he saw the large tree, following the sound of its humming. Rutilus, the wind seemed to whisper. Rutilus, she's there.
"Taliene?" He shook his fur upon entering the tree, and then stared at the fallen doe on the ground. Her body was a little warmer due to the Oak, but she was still cold. Rutilus lay beside her, curling his larger, warmer body around hers.
Her eyes fluttered open. "Where is he?" She murmered, voice weak. Her brother cast his gaze downward.
"I don't know," Rutilus admitted. "He's probably in the Birch Forest, sheltering somewhere..."
"There's no shelter there!" The doe shrieked, lifting her head. She wept again, squirming away from Rutilus only to have him pull on her tail with his teeth, making her lie back down. "We have to find him, there's no shelter there except the slanted rock but you'd have seen him, and--and--Brother, we have to find him!" She was in hysterics, and Rut rested his shaggy neck on her back.
"He'll be allright, sis."
And then a gazelle flopped into the Oak. His eyes were half-closed, snowflakes covering his thin, fragile body. The other deer went to him immediately, pushing and pulling him further inside.

Jared woke in the middle of the night to find his adoptive siblings curled around him, and he smiled.
