Bored wandering, met up with a crow on the way around. Decided it'd be his best buddy instead of a feathery snack and sat on it for a few moments as an initiation ceremony. Poked a few sleeping bodies with it, pranked Draven a little (but alas, no reaction) and was almost eager for the large stag to start chasing him around angrily.
Meandered off again, poked a fluffy ghost [ Ludwig ] and was quite shocked when it suddenly awoke. Leapt away, alarmed and alarm only peaked when it began to charge after him. In most of his experiences, when one was awoken by being prodden by a large tiger is to run, so when the stag bolted upright and after him felt a twinge of more than fear. Fled with his crow friend.
Calmed down (got tired out, more like) after a burst of speed and looped around to sniff at the stag. Wasn't entirely comfortable having him face him (those antlers are worrying) so kept circling around skittishly. The stag appeared to lose interest after a while and Shanai's interest likewise dropped. Back to wandering.

Spent some time following small creatures about half heartedly before he realised a few familiar faces were about. Did notice a long lost face Jacquelyn in the wings but was uncharacteristically hesitant to approach her. He felt some sentient emotion stop him from greeting the Sanguine as he would usually to any loved one, something which could be labelled as 'doubt' but running far deeper.
SO
he was pleasantly (more like enthusiastically) surprised when she settled down next to him. As if something had been confirmed within Shanai's mind, took the opportunity to lean against her and chuff amiably. Jack's appearance seemed to have pulled a less feral aspect of Shanai to the surface - probably brought on by his association with her to his childhood. Not clingy per se but definitely attached to right now.
ALSO WAS GIVEN A CHANCE TO say hi to the small children!! Had been interested in the small furry pile of squeaking bodies Fay had been resting by for a while and finally pulled himself from Jacquelyn's side to investigate them. If he's honest, he's kind of apprehensive of them. The small melee of squirming baby fur and unidentifiable limbs is slightly threatening but he takes a good sniff of them anyways when invited to. His mom seemed to approve, which kind of slapped a positive spin to the whole episode.
Returned to Jacquelyn afterwards, who had moved to watch them.

PSYCHE
Built like some kind of steamroller disguised as a limousine, Shanai's slender, front-heavy physique indicates his power, strength and force lies in his hefty forearms, covered in golden striped fur.
Never mind the adorably misleading apathy, myopical blinking and chin-scruff, let alone his voluminous cheek-beard, Shanai is a true predator. His huge paws and slightly yellowed teeth emphasise this - his nature is to hunt those smaller and weaker than him with no remorse. Beware of the tiger, burning with hunger in the forest.
Shanai was born on the day that ominous fog crept it's way into the forest - the day that would herald the Zombie King's arrival soon after. Some force of his passing darkness must have touched the cub's mind - it seems that Shanai was left with an insatiable urge to consume all beings. Due to this, his sanity is tied intrinsically with the state of his hunger.
As it nears every October, the tiger grows hungrier and hungrier, no matter what he eats. His jaws welcome anything edible with a forceful snap, and often at these times he hides himself away. It is not because he particularly cares for the lives of sentimental creatures, coarse and insensitive as it is, but the fact that he understands that there will be severe consequences involved if he does.
He contends himself with tearing at himself instead.
Afterwards he emerges, weak, tired and finally, full - that is, until the next year swings around.
The Baleful Claws, otherwise is a surprisingly relaxed individual. While considered more feral than intelligent, the tiger acts on instincts. And his instincts, other than the craze-driven urge to eat dictate him to simply, as you put it, chill.
Shanai is a very dopey character when relaxed. His mannerisms are less than animalistic, when he is, and his mannerisms resemble that of a domestic cat.

Close; Tigress: Upon losing most of his dependence on his mother for a source of food, warmth or shelter has become more distanced and solitary when faced towards her. In moments of rare playfulness the tiger may leap to his mother's side for a wrestling romp, but most times the tigress will be acknowledged with cool indifference. Feels no great attachment to. (#best-son) Mirai/panumbra: Appears to hold a more affectionate view towards the demoness, perhaps in the faint memory of her patience and wild nature. Confused by the sudden change in height difference once he grew, but recognises her well despite long intervals of her/his waking hours. Fay: The holder of most of his fond childhood memories, looked up to the wolf as a surrogate mother figure and considered himself one of her children. Does not realise or understand that she is gone, and continues to wander and linger in places he saw her last. back?? Seems unfazed by this and looks forwards to seeing her more.
Well known; Cayleigh: Tiny, annoying little thing that he couldn't bring himself to eat. Seriously going to starve to death because he can't resist the puppy eyes. Nevertheless, enjoys her company, when she's staying still. 'Yvette': A small cub that upon initial inspection both amused him and tickled at his hunting instinct. Snappy, plucky and aloof, the child seems to pull at a long forgotten memory of himself in his youth, causing some interesting dynamics as he tries to deal with their fierce reactions to his reprimanding. Most probably due to their affinity for feline body language, has grown closer to than most on his first encounter. Doesn't speak much, and is fine with that - enjoys their company. Named them 'Yvette' for convenience's sake. Jacquelyn: Childhood playmate - rarely seen nowadays if ever, but picks up her scent here and there. Content with this. !!! This might need to be redone if they meet up more who knows Symphyon: Met only once, but highly intrigued by. Treats their interactions as a game to try and figure each other's personality out. Roman: At first, was simply intrigued by his copious amounts of fur and glowing markings but casual interest has turned into rough affection. what else Hati: Faint memories of a black fluffy puppy. Hoping to see again and make sure that all the fluff he experienced as a cub was still there.
Unsure; Fink: Unaware that his overbearing personality seems to unsettle and cause the smaller being discomfort. Confused as to why his efforts to 'be friends' are being met with fearful shivering, but probably will seek out again to try and work on it. Morana: She doesn't like him, he'll pretend he doesn't like her either. Dignified lion-lady who poked and batted at him at first sight. Lethe: Butt-pillow?? Greitai: Pretty much just likes the fishy smell on her. Kettu: Didn't like him, then liked him? Confusing, so keeps his distance. Knows that she can change her size. Adelaide: Once upon a time when youngster Shanai was desperately hungry, he tried to eat the poor pup. Now, after a few months and regaining his sanity, is eager to meet again. Apparently doesn't understand what a grudge is.

Lost; Machli: His sister, having been born alongside her on a foggy October day - has never seen hide nor hair since of her. All memories save olfactory memories have been erased and faded. Will not recognise nor, sadly, acknowledge.
• Upon waking, curiously patted at a large black creature [ Roman ]. Was at first intrigued by it's super fluff and glowing markings but soon lost interest and moved off to take a bath. HOWEVER. Found himself being followed and watched by the lanky being and found it amusing to return the favor.
While he was patiently engaging in a stare down with Roman he was blindsided by a bouncing ball of wool/fur/Ross. Enjoyed the attention and greeted him warmly but wAS STIL INTO THAT WHOLE STALKING GAME. At one point he moved too close to Roman and the dogbabyturd sat further away with his back to him, but that just gave Shanai many urges to pounce on his tail.
Socially stunted goober he is, he does it. Roman, understandably, did not like that. Sulked big time under Ross who'd taken it his cue to sit on Shanai as a blanket and did not notice the black halfcanter smirking at him. Roman moved off for a bit so Shanai finally turned his full attention to hugging and rubbing his face over Ross's. Aaah, yes, then found a chubby deer lady staring at him [ Stria ]. Stared back, tail flicking. Really, really considered trying to eat her but thEN SHE CHUFFED AT HIM AND FLIPPED OUT. omg tiger-not-tiger of course cannot eat
Pounced around like the giant kitten he is. Made note of her terrible accent when growling but too happy to care much. Also thin, very skinny dog-boy [ Monroe ] came to see Ross. Wanted to bat his tail too, but realised how badly that could go since Monroe looked so fragile.
Took to trying to wrestle with Stria instead.
HOWEVER. ROMAN CAME BACK. SOmehow convinced Stria to join him when he finally succeeded in getting the halfcanter to cuddle with him and was beaming out all the happy vibes. Was so blissed out man. ROlled onto his back and just puddled.
After some time Roman took off to take a bath or something, but was restless enough to stop being Stria's pillow and follow to see where he went. AAAHHH THINGS SHANAI GOT POUTY WHEN ROMAN WOULDNT SIT WITH HIM AGAIN and went off on a walk like please pay attention to me, black creature with nice hands that pet me
Got to a point where he scented bLoD [ Zafeiri's ] and tunnel vision'd onto the source. Had been staring intently at the wounded doe but was distracted by a small thing [ Aries ] moving around behind him. Pupils pretty much pinpricks at this point, stalked closer. Baulked, confused at her fearless greeting, but the moment she turned her head away he rushed forwards a little. Continued to try and get the small thing to run (because he's unnerved when they don't and just stupidly confused) but was pulled away (very reluctantly) by a growl from Roman.
Contented himself with catching fish and sharing it with his new friend instead.

Bored cat, less bored cat when he decided to be an asshole and harass the young doe from before [ Aries ]. Prowled around the tree she was hiding behind, but got spooked whenever she poked her head out. Didn't like it when she could see him approaching, so backed off. Eventually edged close enough to rush at the tree, but wasn't agile enough to manouver himself around it. He ended up overshooting and roared his frustrations. He was so hungry. Just let me eat you.
Is persistent enough to give it another go once they become less alert.
•Stared at people non-too subtly trying to garner a reaction the whole day, to no avail, since they just moved away or didn't see him, somehow. They just weren't up to saying hi to a bulky, toothy predator staring at them unblinkingly, I guess.
He was on the verge of trying to stir shit up but patting roughly at the fox-lady's [ Kettu ] charges but got kind of spooked off when she woke up and decided against it.
A smol cub he'd stared at earlier suddenly popped up [ kitten ], and he distracted himself by slinking closer to it. I'm not sure what he was thinking, but it was something between chasing it and trying to befriend it. For a few minutes it kind of alternated between the two. Had difficulties making his mind up, especially when they hissed and ran off from him - couldn't help but give chase. He did balk a little when the cub turned around a swiped at him, but with that said, just shoved his head in closer to sniff its face.
Found their antics both amusing and frustrating, and at some point considered leaving and ridding himself of the problems of interacting with a spitfire puffball, but seemed to be drawn to the feline characteristics of their body language. More curious than territorial at this point, and besides the fact that they probably couldn't to anything but gnaw on his paws and fur, was starting to enjoy being an asshat back.
Everytime they hissed at him, he bopped them to the ground roughly, and the offended look they gave him was pretty amusing in itself. Did some chin-scruffing and rough grooming with his teeth, as well as smugly marking their trees with his own clawmarks and scent - they'd have to grow before they could cover those over.
Also tucked them under his armpit happily. At some point they moved locations to a sunspot (a very good idea thanks to the cub) and he took the chance to simply roll over and bask in the warmth. Did a butt-pat and they went all hissy, but, inconsiderate brute he is, bopped their head roughly down and was surprised by the ferocity that they continued to express their displeasure with. Then they ran off, so was left as a puddle of sad.
He'll check on her later. Wandered off to the water's edge to wash himself, but found a strange creature that met him there more interesting [ Lilshitt ]. Patted at his inky hide curiously, and amused himself with watching the tendrils of smoke dissipate, despite being warned that it would stain his fur. In short, was given an attitude check by the rhyming trickster and was left with a polite goodbye and warning to keep his manners brushed up.
Probably feeling a little more than chastised, moved off to look for the little cub again, and apologised in his own asshat way - on his back, with the cub loafing on top of his belly. Decided to give it a name as well - Yvette - for the sake of calling it something other than 'kitten' in his head. Also noticed a pretty lion lady [ Morana, played by Echosong ] in the corner of his vision and gently slid Yvette off to watch the grey lady calmly - until when he tried to sniff at her and she batted him roughly. >U
Was chased about a little by the larger feline, much to his discontent and was also studiously ignored afterwards. Not particularly happy with this, gave her the same treatment as he sat off a little ways. Yvette, cat like, went off without reason to explore on her own.

• Rolled into the pond to soak the dirt off his fur and watched the fish lazily as he groomed himself roughly. Also kind of tripped over a deer [ Stone balancer ] on his way and considered him thoughtfully, but decided old flesh was not nice flesh. + It wasn't fun unless they run.
Seemed to have attracted the attention of a lioness (!!) [ Umay ] and hastily stood up, probably stopped slouching and stood straighter too Watched with a nonchalant eye as she approached, and noticed with faint dismay she was bigger than him. Everybody was bigger than him, man. Gave the lioness more attention than he would with most others, and made small chuffs at her in greeting, but awkward tiger is awkward and kind of just fell away after a while. Attempted to dry himself by rubbing a nearby tree a little ways, confused to see the lioness's companion [Tamsin ] do the same after he'd left.
Decided to see if he could go bother Draven, but no go. Just sat there and took his prods. Bored, ambled over to where there seemed to be a stand off between three deer [ Rohit, Jhorla, Z'ev ]
Pretty much sat in a flower patch and ate popcorn and things until there was this tiny thing that came running willingly over to him?? [ Milla ] Definately considered eating it - he was getting hungry again and batted at it roughly and mouthed it's back with his yucky tongue and breath but ultimately ended up just kind of sitting on it. :/ gdi shanai
Sat and watched and probably creeped out a lot of judges in 'The Swan's 'herd' [ Erytheia, ..?? ]. Not involved and not particularly interested save a few interesting scents. More or less was a puddle of striped fur in the corner. Also, growing possessive over the tiny thing who stuck with him, what is sharing the cute?
Kind of not really bullied a poor individual in his curiosity [ Cole ] at his scent. Musk and spice? Shanai likes. B)
Bemused and slightly confused when they wouldn't let him near him (PROBABLY BEcAUSE TIGER) despite his attempted non-threatening circling but began to enjoy it. Made a game of how close he could get before the individual bolted (not very). THEN TURNED to show Milla yes this is how you socialise when he saw her being investigated by two deer [ IM SORRY I DON"T KNOW YOUR NAMES]
Lunged forwards with a growl and scattered them. Then got reprimanded by the tiny thing and was all sad face what did I do wrong?
Also, groomed Ross sadly after tiny thing left.

Tempted as I am to just let this reputation as a leg-humper haunt Shanai throughout his whole life, I should mention that all I saw (from afar) was what looked like the sad + laughing emotes combined on or around Panumbra's leg. :X I'm sorry if this wasn't the case. It's late, and we got vodka. Shanai is adorable, and that is the most important thing here.
