Caden said soothingly, taking sympathy on the patterned doe.

Caden gazed around the vacant corner of the forest, scenting for other souls that may be around, then glanced back at Yara. Whatever thoughts he was about to pour out were disguised by a needless question, "Um. . .I was on my to the pond, would you like to join me?" His words flowed like the gentle pulse of a dormant body; peaceful, even if the mind was otherwise a wreck. Still, the young buck was happy to invite this little beauty along with him; it was just one more doe in his midst. He met her icy gaze with glowing, midnight-blue eyes, as they shown from behind his broadened snout, waiting for her answer.

Caden let out a soft laugh, "Is that so? Well, it's nearly over; you'd better decide quickly," he spoke with a bit of a challenge in his voice, though it was more playful than cruel. He glanced away from her as the pond came into sight, and began galloping toward it, passing over the sticky mud and plunging his sore legs into the calm waters.

Caden looked up from where he gulped the cool liquid, "Well, whatever your choice, I hope you are truly happy. A fawn is a big commitment, as far as I know. I think my sisters and I wore my mother out when we were young. . . I think I still worry her to this day!" He laughed, the water dripping from his ashen maws.
A strange, foreboding wind threatened to tear at the heavy clouds overhead. The forest stirred with preparation for rain, and Caden gave Yara a concerned look.

Caden's heart dropped a little when he heard the sad longing in the doe's voice; it was a little gut-wrenching, "Your heart is that of gold, to take in fawns that were not your own to begin with. So. . . your wish is to bare fawns who grow up with a father?" The raven-colored buck paused. It was unbeknownst to him what that would be like; his father and mother had both always been there, since his birth. Without Jax to teach him how to spar, or to protect, or care for a family, or share those precious father-son moments with him; Caden didn't know what he'd do!
