FAQ:
Q: Why are there no pictures for this tutorial? : <
A: Because Ivi is slow, but she's working on it. : > You can see the screenshots I'm working on mostly in order HERE

Q: Why would I want more than one version?
A: For fun, to try out glitches or features which may not be available in later versions, or to cast sets (namely DotD, Crying Idol, and candles) which are not available in later versions.

Q: Can I run two different versions at the same time?
A: Yes. The process is similar to how you would do this normally with multiple copies of the same version. Just open the second version using the icon while the first version is already running.

Q: If I can run both versions at the same time, can I cast on myself in the new version from a character on the old version?
A: Yes. However, see the warning on Step 7.

1. Download the installer for the most recent version of TEF (link). As of 8-20-15, this is version 3.41.

1a.

1b.

2. Install the version of the game you just downloaded.

3. Adjust your screensaver settings if you do not want TEF to act as your screensaver.

OPTIONAL: Configure your game to your preferences (this may be done at any time!)
This is done through the in-game menu, which can be accessed by pressing the escape (Esc) key, or clicking the green/yellow/orange dot on the left of your action bar.
By default, your game will start in full-screen mode with most display settings set to their maximum values.

4. Find your TEF folder. By default, the game installs at C:\Program Files\Tale of Tales OR C:\Program Files (x86)\Tale of Tales (depending on your operating system).

5. Rename your TEF folder. The name does not matter, but I recommend renaming it to include the version number. **and/or move it

6. Adjust your desktop icon so that it will start the game correctly. **more info from step 5

7. Download the installer for the alternate version you would like to install. You can find a list of installer links HERE.
WARNING: Some of the older versions cannot be played with a generation of pictogram which was created after that game version. In example, you CANNOT log into v3.13 without a first generation pictogram. Similarly, older versions of the game will not display newer pictogram generations correctly. For more information, you can read about pictograms, how to translate new pictos into older versions, and many other interesting things HERE.

8. Repeat steps 1-3.

9. Steps 4-6 are optional (but recommended) for the second folder.

10. Repeat the process for as many versions as you would like to have installed.
