October 12th 2011

Well I was only planning on putting this guy on hold for a little while but an old and new character became a better source of inspiration for me... I'm not sure if I want to put him aside forever, but for now I think it's safe to say he's on Hiatus till further notice. Thank you everyone who enjoyed his character and I'm sorry about this ._. If anyone has any ideas for him in the future please feel free to contact me about him and might consider a revival, but on my own I've hit a roadblock.
Maybe one day he'll return <3

Basics

Name: Eiros [ear-ohs]
Gender: Stag
Age: 26 [human years]
Sexual Orientation: ...Unsure
Relationship status: Single
Basic Appearance: Dark real-deer pelt, Whistling mask and Golden antlers. Short blonde hair adorns his head and snakes down the back of his neck to his withers. Wrapped around his right antler is a purple ribbon with a small, silver bell dangling from the end. He's quite tall and lanky, somewhat feminine looking for a stag. His body is completely devoid of scars or blemishes and his facial features appear deceptively youthful.
Hobbies: Dancing, singing, telling stories and reciting poetry
Abilities: The ability to heal others through physical contact [These powers are explained below]
Color: #765671

Personality

Eiros is generally an introvert. First impressions are of a quiet, reserved individual - polite but guarded around those he isn't familiar with. He's an insecure fellow as well, always a bit paranoid and on edge, especially in the presence of imposing company. He is unsure of himself in the presence of others, and while he tries to be friendly and fit in his awkwardness and social cluelessness is more than obvious. The stag avoids physical closeness and contact – even around those he has good relationships with - yet he appears envious of it in others. He can become uneasy, frustrated or restless in the presence of overly affectionate couples or groups. You'd have to do some digging or know him well to figure out the reason's why.

Eiros is a ...conflicted stag when it comes to trust and forming bonds. While he has convinced himself that trusting and getting too involved in others isn't such a good idea... he can't really seem to help himself. In the end he can trust far too easily, to the point of being a little gullible. Doing so and divulging too much about himself to unworthy companions has gotten him into dire trouble in the past, but it's unlikely he wont make the same mistake again. Despite everything...there is nothing Eiros longs for more than being close to someone, and distance he keeps between himself and others can seem a bit strange once you get to know him. Eiros seems to take a genuine and sometimes deep interest in others and feels a strong sense of empathy towards them - appearing to be especially drawn towards those in need of compassion. Eiros possesses a determined and yet conflicted drive to help; either by healing, or just...brightening someone's day by being close or entertaining them with his stories, songs and dances. It's when he sets his mind to accomplishing this goal that you really see him break free of his shell. His is a confident and more than competent in his artistic crafts and seems to take quite a bit of pride in that...though as soon as he is finished he easily reverts back to his quiet, humble nature. But just because he desires to help...doesn't mean he's always willing to do so readily. He has learned to pace himself with his abilities, and actually appears to be very weary of sick or injured deer despite his concerns. He may spy on them, analyzing their condition as well as their character. Just how he judges who to heal and who not to is unknown, if there's any criteria behind it at all. It is a tough decision either way and one he does not take lightly.

With his abilities being what they are, it's difficult not to label him selfless – though his own sense of self preservation struggles to get in the way. Eiros can be incredibly brave and stoic when absorbing broken bones and lacerations, yet he hates any sort of confrontation or violence. He would rather cower or flee from danger or aggression than retaliate. The scrawny stag has no idea how to fight, though he may give it a tentative try if absolutely forced to defend his own well-being, or that of another. When in a weakened state he will reject all but familiar company, and even still be weary of them.

Abilities

  • Heals through physical contact. It is an involuntary reaction.

  • Heals by absorption, drawing the ailments of others into himself. Any injuries or illnesses the other has will be drawn from them and transferred to him, essentially swapping conditions with whoever he's in contact with.

  • If he is in contact with a deer that is healthy, he will begin to draw in their 'healthy' energy, making them feel sick and/or weak after a prolonged period of exposure.

  • Once he has absorbed an ailment, anyone who comes in contact with him before he has healed is more at risk for having their energy rapidly drained. Depending on the severity of the ailment, they may even begin to experience the same feelings of pain or illness – without actually being sick or injured. Think of them as 'phantom' sensations.

  • Without borrowing excess energy from others, Eiros heals at the same rate as anyone else. The more energy he is able to draw from others, the faster he can heal himself.

  • Despite being able to heal quickly, it is just as possible for him to die from his ailments. If the injury is too severe his body can go into shock and absorption may not work. The more severe the injury, the more energy he will need to quickly heal it before it threatens his life, and this can be difficult and put others in danger.

  • Along with exchanging physical energies, Eiros can also exchange emotional energy. If someone he's in contact with is excited and he is calm, they too will start to feel calm while he will feel their excitement. Unlike physical energy however, emotional energy is easily changed and manipulated and the transference is nowhere near as effective. Once the other realizes what is happening they can easily shake the feeling off.

  • Absorbing energy is a high for Eiros. It's an exhilarating rush, and just like a drug...can become addicting if he begins to over-expose himself to it.

In The Game

  • Eiros cowers to show his general nervousness - it is not always fear. If you mean him no ill will he warms fairly quickly.

  • If your deer gets close or touches him, he'll eventually nervously move away from them to avoid absorbing their energy. If your deer is injured (and I'm aware of it, that is) he'll keep a good distance.

  • If you find Eiros initiating contact with your deer, this could be a sign of trust with friends and an attempt to comfort...or he could just be absorbing their energy

  • If your deer is injured and Eiros boldly approaches and lays close beside them (He may ask they lay down if they aren't already), this means he intends to heal them. When he has finished he will stand. If your deer stands and breaks contact in the middle of it, they will only be partially healed (Or if he chooses to only partially heal them, I'll let you know OOC). He will then assume the injures he has absorbed.

  • WIP...

Soona had noticed the stag.

Soona had noticed the stag. Of course he had; he was always glancing around in a paranoid fashion, ready to run if any male wandered too close to him. He felt slightly more secure than usual while playing with Shiba, but that stag...he was wandering too close. Soona's chest began to tighten as his anxiety crept back, and he waded into the pond and took a frantic drink. Yet again, the stag wandered close. He seemed confused, and not threatening...but how could Soona trust him? He couldn't...he may be putting on a charade, just to torment him.

His mind racing, the blue stag dashed to a nearby tree and paced around it nervously, struggling to clear his mind and catch his breath. It was then he noticed that Shiba had followed him. She seemed confused, as she should be. Soona managed a false smile and nuzzled her reassuringly, but still his heart raced. His eyes darted to meet the stag's own, and he stood frozen for a moment, his heart pounding in his ears.

What do you want...?

I think Cypher might have

I think Cypher might have seen him a few days ago. Or at least a deer with the same set. I remember that Cypher kinda scared him off since the little fawn who was following him was scared.

Also, how in the world does CSS work on here? I know my CSS coding is right but I can never get it to come up.

The other male's fearful reaction had been...startling. He hadn't meant to stare...he had only drawn close to watch him dance. Eiros had mistaken the stag's avoidance as shyness, and though it seemed a daunting task he took a breath and stood from where he had watched the stranger's carefree footwork and tentatively approached the water's edge. He thought to offer kind words; to compliment him on his movements... but just as his mouth opened to do so, the darker male lifted his head from drinking and their eyes met. It was fear that stared back at him. Eiros froze and the words escaped him. Fear...why fear? What had he done?
What did he know?
The blue stag bolted for the trees, leaving the blonde to stare in rigid bewilderment at the rippling water left in his wake. His heart thundered in his chest, heavy and sinking. He had to know...why else would he be afraid? But he couldn't know. This was...someplace new. A new start! Nobody knew him here...
But what if he was wrong?
Stiffy he turned, forcing another weary glance back at the male that now hid himself amongst the trees. They eyes met again, and the stranger froze, and then cowered. It was too much. Swallowing the lump in his throat, Eiros tore his eyes away and stared for a moment down at his distorted reflection before gritting his teeth and spinning on his heels to dash off up the hill and out of sight. He was eager to put distance between them.
What if I was wrong...

(ALSO.)

The blue buck remained seemingly frozen in time as he returned the blonde stag's gaze. He felt...lost in that gaze. It was a strange feeling, but not unwelcome. It seemed so warm, so familiar. And then, in a flash, the stag turned tail and fled, snapping Soona out of his trance. Almost immediately, his heart plummeted, and it left him feeling confused. Why was he so upset over the stag leaving? Normally he would be relieved, grateful. But now... He shook his head and leaned against the tree with a heavy sigh. What am I doing...? His mind raced as he tried to think, but he couldn't make sense of anything. Perhaps it would be best to not think of it at all. Regretfully, Soona lifted his eyes to catch one last glimpse of Eiros disappearing into the treeline. May we meet again...

Shiori's picture

He was back again... He

He was back again...
He followed him, watched him...just like the night before. Eiros had managed to give him the slip, but he was back...
And the stag was still afraid of him.
Eiros wasn't exactly welcoming of his presence either. He had avoided confrontation, simply choosing to put distance between them. Maybe the stranger would tire of him...see he was nothing special and go on his way. Yet there he sat, barely concealed by the tall grass in the distance, and the blonde stag could feel his eyes on him. Ignore him, he scolded himself, biting down hard on his lip to keep his eyes from shifting in the other's direction. As blood began to pool in his mouth he shifted his weight and rested his head against the side of one of the small, hugging birches he sought comfort from and closed his eyes. A soft, airy tune began to rise from his sealed lips – a little song to distract himself. There was rustling; footsteps. The blue stag was shifting closer. His muscles tensed once again and his eyes snapped open. He couldn't take this anymore... Lifting his head, he filled his lungs with air and hoisted himself to his feet in a quick, fluid motion. He didn't care if he startled his stalker...he hoped he would! Would serve him the sleepless night he'd had! Turning to face the poorly concealed stag, he attempted to stand a bit straighter and hardened his gaze to seem more imposing...though his eyes still clearly mirrored his apprehension.
“What do you want?” he spoke clearly, though even as he attempted to raise his voice it came out low and soft – if not with a bit of an extra edge. The edge was fear.
Uruushou's picture

Perhaps he was being

Perhaps he was being inconsiderate. Perhaps he didn't think of how the blonde-haired stag felt being followed around. Soona never thought of those things...perhaps it was selfish of him to do so. But in the end, he could not help but feel fascinated with the other stag. He was so much like Soona...he was timid, afraid. He began to feel that he had no reason to fear Eiros; how could he? Truly, it would be impossible; the stag was too sweet. Foolishly, Soona believed that Eiros truly wouldn't mind having him be so near, and so he ended up making himself comfortable in his poorly thought-out hiding spot. Comfortable... Now that was something that he didn't get to feel often. As he was yesterday, he felt confused over his mixed reactions to Eiros. He was still a little frightened, he supposed...but not of Eiros. No, it was something else...something internal.

It hurt to think about it for too long. Instead, Soona's eyelids began to grow heavy, and it was then he realized how tired he was from his scare earlier with the albino stags. He began to slip off into a light doze, enjoying the warm sunlight caressing his fur...and then, his ears perked to a soft sound. It was a song... The stag was singing. His eyes snapping open, Soona looked over at the blonde stag in wonder. Such a beautiful sound it was; it made his heart swell. A small smile formed on the blue stag's face, and he closed his eyes in contentment.

Eiros's sudden movement was unexpected, and Soona was on his feet in an instant with a gasp. He pressed his body against the tree trunk he was leaning against, his heart pounding and his posture hunched submissively. He felt more shocked than afraid...merely startled, really. The blonde stag seemed...irritated. Naively, Soona wondered why, and he regarded the other stag with confused and hurt eyes. The hard gaze made Soona shrink into himself a little more, and his ears twitched nervously. The question...no, the demand took him by surprise, and Soona felt stunned. He froze, trying to think. Why did he want, indeed. He did not know... He stood there for what seemed like an eternity, his mouth slightly agape, but no words came.

Talk, you idiot!

"I-I...I m-mean...I-I j-just..." he tried to get the words out, but his stutter made it very difficult for him to form a proper sentence...not that he could find the words, anyway. It seemed worse than usual, not from fear, but from hurt and nervousness. "P-please, I...I w-won't hurt y-you," Soona tried again, swallowing back the lump in his throat and trying to make his voice as clear as possible.
Shiori's picture

He had predicted this

He had predicted this reaction, and yet the sight of it was no less alarming. The blue stag stumbled hurriedly to his feet, the gasp of alarm causing his ears to twitch forward through his blonde hair before flicking back again wearily. The stranger shrunk against his tree, staring up at him with wide eyes...and Eiros' stern gaze faltered as feelings of sympathy threatened his resolve. He may have predicted the stranger's fear...but the fear itself? On their first meeting Eiros had assumed the worse of his display, but now, after watching his stalker interact fearfully with other passerby’s, he couldn't help but...doubt his former assumption. No...why would someone who was afraid of him follow him? It didn't make any sense... Even still, it wasn't enough to quell his unease because the question of why would anyone follow him at all still remained. There was only one reason he could think of, and it wasn't pretty... But surely the timid stranger could be seeking that...

His brows knit and a frown pulled at his tight lips as the stranger stammered out a response. It was almost more than the gentle stag could stand, watching another squirm beneath his gaze this way. Without even realizing it he lifted a foot and took a hesitant step back before settling again, his head tilting and causing the little bell tied to his curving antlers to sing out in a tiny, whimsical voice that rivaled its owner's.
“Hurt me...” he repeated carefully, testing out the words on his tongue. He wasn't sure of them; wasn't sure how he felt about them. It was true that the stranger didn't seem capable of hurting him...but then-
“Nor do I intend to harm you... Why do you cower?”
The question was barely a whisper, as though he hadn't really intended to voice it out loud. He realized his mistake and his frown deepened before he more properly asked “Why have you been following me?”
Uruushou's picture

Soona's ears slowly pulled

Soona's ears slowly pulled forward as Eiros spoke again. That voice was so soothing, so gentle...it made the blue stag wonder why he was cowering like a fool in the first place. Taking a breath, he managed to straighten his posture, and could not help but frown when the blonde-haired buck backed up a step. At this rate, he supposed that he couldn't blame him. He knew that he was being a bother, as always. He tilted his head slightly at Eiros's tone; it was contemplative, and it made Soona more curious than he already was. It was as if he could almost hear what the bell-adorned stag was thinking.

"Nor do I intend to harm you..."

The last part of the buck's statement was too soft for Soona to hear, but he had heard enough to make him breathe a long sigh of relief. Eiros's words were sincere...he found no deceit in them, nor malice. With little effort, Soona straightened his posture more until his stood tall, and somehow managed to hold his head higher than he had in quite a while. At the next question, however, Soona flinched a little and took a step back as well, his ears pointing backward. Eiros sounded accusing...distrusting. It truly hurt Soona; he did not want the blonde stag to think wrongly of him.

Somehow, despite his racing mind, he was able to speak more coherently now that he was not frightened or as nervous. "You are...you are like me. You seem...alone, sad. I thought... I suppose I am being foolish, but...this place frightens me. But you...now that I see, you do not. You...we are..." His voice faltered, and he looked down with a heavy sigh. He was not making sense, as usual. He should just run off now, and leave Eiros be. But his heart commanded him to stay...
Shiori's picture

He did sound accusing...he

He did sound accusing...he was distrusting. He didn't mean to be...no, yes he did mean to be! But... it never felt right. It wasn't him. His interest in the blue stranger was growing with each passing second; each subtle tick of his expression – or what he could see beneath his mask. What was worse, Eiros could could feel what he was feeling, and they hadn't even needed to touch. The empathy was drawing him in the way strong currents swept unsuspecting swimmers out to sea. The static tension that zapped between them was beginning to quiet.

The stranger's voice, now smooth and unbroken, was not unpleasant. Eiros' ears swiveled forward and his jaw relaxed in surprise at the first few words he'd uttered. His lips lightly parted as though to gasp, but no air rushed out, and no sound was made. There was nothing but the stag's words and the thudding of the heart in his chest as he slowly digested them. What...peculiar things for him to say, and yet Eiros could feel the truth behind his words so completely. So that was it... He wasn't onto any of his secrets. He wasn't being stalked to be taken advantage of. His brows slowly un-furrowed, the corners of his mouth gently rising before a quiet, breathy sound of escaped from his throat.
“Foreign ,” the blonde stag finished his sentence for him, eyes softening.
Silence passed between them, and then-
“In that case...I suppose you can...stay, if you'd like.”
His gaze shifted uncertainly before he managed to force a somewhat broader smile in hopes of taming the stranger's unease. It did nothing to help his own, however. He took another step back, his sides rubbing against the twin trunks of the peculiar twisting trees. The pressure soothed him. He watched the blue stranger and waited for his reaction.
Uruushou's picture

Even though they were a bit

Even though they were a bit of a distance apart, Soona caught practically every expression both on Eiros's face and in his body language. The blonde stag's emotions danced about just like his own had a habit of doing, and Soona could not help but feel baffled. He never would have dreamed that someone else in this forest would be like him...would understand him. And now, Eiros was opening up to him, relaxing. He felt that the blonde buck was a godsend, and hopefully not a figment of his imagination. He wouldn't doubt the later, as his life in general was cruel enough to him. But, no...Eiros was real, and he was acknowledging Soona's existence without malicious intent. It was enthralling, relieving...comforting.

He could tell that Eiros was thinking, trying to make sense of things just like he himself was. The confusion and bewilderment was mutual; a nonverbal understanding was forming between them. The one word that Eiros spoke made the blue buck's eyes widen. Foreign...yes, that was it. He watched the blonde's stance soften, relax at a realization. That one word...it lightened his own heart. For a moment, he could hear nothing in the forest other than his own breathing. It was then he realized that his breathing was controlled...a sensation that he had almost forgotten. There was peace within him, peace around him...and it was wonderful.

Eiros's next words made Soona perk up in surprise, and he blinked, wondering if he was hearing things. Was he...inviting him to stay? The blue buck gazed back at the other stag in bewilderment, and was taken aback at the smile. It took him a moment to realize that he had begun to smile as well...not a weak one or one of nervousness, but of joy and relief. It was thrilling. "I...I would like that, very much. Thank you..." he managed to sound out around the lump in his throat, hot tears pricking at the corners of his eyes. He blinked them again, and had to hold himself back from stepping forward. No...he would not break that trust so soon. He would let Eiros approach him, if he so wished.

For now, Soona gave a half bow, his smile never waning. "I would love to know your name, if that is alright," he continued softly, his eyes warm. "I-I am Soona..."
Shiori's picture

He didn't want to leave his

He didn't want to leave his zone of comfort. He had thought his offer would have drawn the stranger in...but that was a silly assumption. After Eiros had scolded him for stalking? No...the blonde couldn't imagine he would be all that eager to close the gap, either. His chest heaved in a resigned sigh as he watched the blue stag's expression morph. Compared to his former behavior the lad looked damn near giddy about Eiros' acceptance. This couldn't really be real, could it? Why would anyone desire to be in his presence so much?

Because they don't know what you are...

Heh... neither do I.

Giving his trees one last rub, the stag lowered his ears and stepped gingerly from their protective embrace. They pricked forward and his feet hesitated once more as the male before him bowed and requested his name before offering his own. And so the stranger became Soona. Soona... He mouthed the name, testing the way the air flowed over his tongue and bounced off the roof of his mouth as he did. He...liked the feel of that. The blonde stag offered a nod of his head and another brief, 'polite' smile.
“I am Eiros,” he stated simply before his hooves carried him forward again. His long, slender limbs slid him in a fluid, careful way – more akin to the stride of does than of a mature male. The bell dangling from his antler barely made a sound with each gliding step. Before he knew it, he stood before the str-...Soona, peering awkwardly in through the holes of his mask. They had not been this close before...not even nearly, for the the first time Eiros could see the details he'd missed before. The way his fur flowed around his face, the patch of fuzz on his chin, the ocean-blue of his glossy eyes...
...Glossy?
He stared stupidly, his own violet eyes somewhat guarded. Graceful a creature as he may be in motion, once standing in the company of strangers the poor boy had the tact of a gangly newborn. What...was next?
Uruushou's picture

It took the blue stag a

It took the blue stag a moment to realize that the blonde was walking toward him...closing that constricting distance, clearing the stale air of uncertainty. And then, a name... Eiros. Eiros... "Eiros..." Soona echoed in a hushed voice, enjoying the way it sounded, the way it flowed. Such a beautiful name for a beautiful stag. The young buck quickly clenched his jaw as if he had spoken out loud, a slight blush creeping across his cheeks. His body was frozen as the one named Eiros continued to move closer to him. His eyes took in the way the blonde moved, the way he carried himself with grace. Soona found that he could no take his eyes off of the stag...it was impossible.

Everything in the forest seemed to cease existing as they stood before each other. It was unreal...Soona blinked, and Eiros was here in front of him. He had to remind himself to breathe, for his heart to continue beating. The blue buck took in the blonde's features: that whispy blonde hair, the youthful face, the soft and unmarred fur, the stunning violet eyes... Beautiful... Soona's eyes were locked with Eiros's own, his legs shaking as well. His heart beat in his ears. What should he... Soona slowly leaned forward, extending his neck. He did not think...he couldn't. He gently sniffed at Eiros, his muzzle softly brushing against the fur beneath his chin. He exhaled...and then took in his scent. He closed his eyes, and sighed with a small shudder. Closeness...
Shiori's picture

Try as he might, Eiros

Try as he might, Eiros couldn't take the intensity of Soona's gaze for long. What was...with this stag? The way he watched him...the way he looked at him now... There was something off about it, but not in the usual, negative way. It was just different then the looks he had known and memorized. It wasn't contempt or fear; it wasn't quite friendliness, somewhat closer to admiration, but no... not even that. It churned up an odd feeling in his gut that wasn't...entirely unpleasant, and his heart beat a little heavier in his chest.

Just when he thought he could take no more of it, the blue stag shifted towards him. It wasn't an unusual action in itself, but after the tension that had been building between them he nearly shied away from the gesture. Calm down you fool... he inwardly hissed as he once again tucked the inside of his lip towards his ready teeth. The wound he had opened there before was already sealing, leaving only a tangy taste to remember it by. By some miracle he stood still, holding his breath as Soona drew in close to take in his scent. The light caress of his warm breath on his jaw sent a little shiver down his spine.
Closeness...
Oh this was ridiculous! Giving his head a little shake he carefully stepped aside, creating distance between before stretching out his own neck and drawing in the other stag's scent. His was a brief, polite exchange and nothing more before taking a step back and allowing his gaze to sheepishly shift to one side.
“Mm...We can...sit now, if you'd like,” he suggested, his ears folding back uncertainly as he dared another look at him. The thought of sitting with him, the possibility of the same awkward silence prevailing between them...it made him apprehensive – then again, what didn't out of this whole thing? He was used to outgoing deer, deer who knew what they wanted out of him, where they wanted to go. This was freedom, and it was...foreign.
Uruushou's picture

The moment that Soona drew

The moment that Soona drew himself in was so pleasant, so comforting that he needed to remind himself to back away. And so he did, regrettably, Eiros's scent lingering within his senses. The blonde smelled of pine, dew and honeysuckle...an enthralling scent that filled Soona with warmth and familiarity. As he pulled back, Soona regarded the slender stag with warm eyes, a soft smile forming on his lips. The blue buck blinked as Eiros suddenly stepped back, but he knew that it was to be expected. He was invading Eiros's space after all, and... And then, Eiros leaned in and sniffed Soona in return. Soona held back a gasp and stood perfectly still, silently thankful that Eiros was comfortable enough to return the gesture after he himself was so forward. The buck let out his lungful of air slowly when the blonde stepped away again, and he cast his gaze shyly off to the side. He was beginning to become a little insecure, wondering if he was staring too much.

When Eiros spoke, Soona lifted his eyes and regarded the small stag with bewilderment. Their eyes met once more, but that initial intensity and awkwardness had waned. At that moment, Soona felt that he would love nothing more than to be close to Eiros, this special stag who was taking the time to know him...and for Soona to know Eiros, in return. This closeness, this mutual understanding...it was almost overwhelming in its unreal nature. So different...so foreign...

"I would like that very much, Eiros," Soona finally replied in a barely controlled voice, giving another half-bow as his heart picked up its pace. He was nervous, yes...but it the best kind of nervousness he had ever felt. Slowly, Soona backed away until his flank rested against a birch trunk, and he lowered himself to the cool earth, his eyes never breaking contact with Eiros's own. He offered a weak smile, and bowed his head slightly.

What a strange turn of

What a strange turn of events... He was not as timid as Soona. He was used to meeting others, going through the polite exchanges, putting up with...the awkwardness his presence usually created. It was sheer suddenness of the switch from imagined foe to overly attentive 'friend' that just wasn't settling right with Eiros. He had been so foolish in the past...so readily believed in trust and the goodness of others. Then they had... Well. He couldn't be so careless! And yet...the very idea of shutting out the world didn't seem possible to someone like him who found so much... joy in it. The idea of not being close to anyone, when the very essence of who- of what he was demanded it...it seemed like more than he could stand the face. Just how much was he willing to risk?

It was more than indecisiveness, it was an all out war being waged within, and all Soona would know if it was the crease of worry in his brow matched with a wary smile as he carefully watched the blue stag find a comfortable resting place.

He would like to sit with him, he'd said...very much, no less! What a silly creature this one was... Slowly shaking his head and giving up on understanding the male's peculiar antics, Eiros moved forward to find his own resting place in the small clearing amidst the long-grass. The distance the blonde was careful to put between them was...less than intimate, perhaps even for the standards of two barely acquainted strangers – and no doubt disconcerting for the over-eager Soona. Folding his limbs beneath him, he settled down upon the earth. His eyes surveyed the long, golden stalks that rose up on all sides to conceal him from the world. Well...the world, that is, excluding Soona. Right. He turned his head to face his new companion awkwardly, pondering what to say.
'Nice weather we're having.'
...No.
' You're pretty persistent for someone so shy...'
Too direct.
'Why do you keep... looking at me like that?'
Eiros sighed through his nose and tore his eyes away, tilting his head back to stare up through the branches in defeat.

(5:30?! You crazy!

(5:30?! You crazy! <3 It's a good post, so no worries! Now, sleep! *parades around with torch*)

Contrary to what Eiros may have thought initially of him, Soona never allowed other stags to come near him. He never really tried to meet others, as his overwhelming fear usually ended up driving him away. Daneth and Eiros were the rare exceptions. With Daneth, he felt secure and had someone to go to when he was frightened. And Eiros...he felt the exact same way with him, but for different reasons. He couldn't figure out those very reasons at that moment; perhaps he should just let those thoughts rest for now. Although he didn't know it yet, like Eiros he had been careless in the past. He had been too trusting, and whenever he became close to someone he would end up getting hurt. He began to think that, perhaps, he was destined to be alone forever...and then he found Eiros. Someone that he could relate to, someone he could find solace in. That is, if Eiros would give him a chance.

Soona looked up as the blonde stag moved toward him, his heart pounding with all the intensity of a hummingbird's frantically flapping wings. Foolishly, he believed that Eiros wished to sit right beside him...but no, of course not. With a heavy heart, the blue buck watched the small stag settle a couple of feet away in a patch of tall grass, facing away from him. Well, what were you expecting? Don't be a fool. Soona shook his head slightly, wanting to clear it so badly. He wished he could see Eiros better; that long grass obstructed his beauty far too much. But he did not move, did not speak. No, he would not make Eiros more uncomfortable than he already was, and who was to say that he felt the same way about males as Soona did?

Just as he was about to exhale a sigh of defeat and try to sleep off his worries, Eiros turned to face him. Soona returned the gaze, his heart skipping a beat, his mouth and throat bone-dry. He could almost see the wheels turning in Eiros's head; he knew that he was struggling to think of something to say. The blue stag waited patiently, his eyes soft and encouraging, although he waited in nervous anticipation for what Eiros was about to say. But then...nothing. Eiros looked away, and Soona did as well, his posture slightly slumped. He heard the sigh, the same kind that Soona himself would utter frequently. Eiros was trying.

Soona's sights focused on the earth beneath him as he struggled to think of what to say. Something, anything. The awkwardness was almost unbearable, and yet Soona was not familiar with the act of breaking the ice. He never really dominated a conversation; he relied on others to bring up points of interest. And yet, here he was...and without thinking, before he could stop himself, Soona looked up. "I...I heard you singing earlier. Y-you have a lovely voice," he said softly, and then immediately wanted to tear off into the forest. What kind of statement was that? No doubt Eiros was feel unnerved. Why was he doing this? You idiot, you're ruining everything! Just...just shut up...
Shiori's picture

It was a good thing the

It was a good thing the ability to read minds was not a part of Eiros' repertoire. Soona's surge of intensely hopeful thoughts might have been more than he could bear. The blond didn't understand such things... He could barely understand his own subtle change of heart for Soona, and really there wasn't much difference between the two types of nervousness he'd been feeling towards the blue stag. His emotions changed, but for the time being they were mostly different shades of the same color. Mostly. He could not deny being a little intrigued by this fellow. He couldn't read his thoughts, no, but his roller-coastering emotions weren't well hidden on his all-too-expressive face. Why? What did they mean? Though he hesitated to think the word again, he had never felt so foreign to the emotions of another than he did right then, and it... It made him want to get closer. It made him want to ... rest his forehead upon Soona's. Close his eyes. He desired that jolt of connection as their skin touched, the warm, electric rush of energy as it flowed into him. It made him want to feel those emotions for himself. Just a brief taste...

He swallowed. His eyes tore from the sky to rotate nervously toward the other. The blue stag had taken a sudden intense interest in the dirt, and Eiros...stole the moment to let his eyes rove over him. Curiosity mixed with desire in his wondering gaze. What would someone like Soona...feel like? Was his energy as weak as he appeared? Or was there strength within that glimmered as bright as the hope in his eyes? Suddenly he found himself staring into them again. Soona had looked up and the blonde started, but before he could conjure any other reaction, the other spoke.

“I...I heard you singing earlier. Y-you have a lovely voice.”

Eiros blinked. It was the only thing worth noting as all expression melted away from his face. Not the greatest reaction to set the blue stag at ease it seemed – the poor dear looked bewildered once the words escaped his lips and he could literally feel the tension emanating from him. Surprisingly enough...the familiar reaction calmed Eiros. His brows lifted behind his mask, but the widening effect it had on his once narrowly suspicious eyes was certainly noticeable. A few brief seconds of drawn out wonder passed before he smiled.
“Thank you,” he nodded in polite appreciation, setting his bell swaying. The subtle sound it made briefly drew his sidelong attention before he looked back curiously.
“Do...you like to sing?”
Uruushou's picture

It was impossible to not feel

It was impossible to not feel the powerful, nervous energy that Eiros was giving off. It fed off of Soona's own anxiety, even fueled it...and yet, it was not unpleasant. Not at all. It was...oddly comforting, even exciting. Perhaps it was because Soona had not been so physically close to another being in so long, let alone a male. He still was not sure how to properly react; instead, he mind raced with a million thoughts, feelings and questions. Eiros's eyes...those beautiful eyes... As he gazed into them, Soona realized that he could become lost in them. He didn't seem to notice that he already was.

The blue stag drew back his head slightly when he saw Eiros's expression melt away. His heart seemed to stop, and he mentally berated himself for saying such an invasive thing. He should not have said anything at all; he knew he was making things worse. Shifting his weight nervously, Soona opened his mouth to apologize...and was stopped when the blonde suddenly regarded him with softer expression. That smile...it instantly melted away all tension from Soona's body. It was genuine and warm. The blue stag smiled widely when Eiros thanked him, and he bowed his head slightly in return, his ears perking to the sound of the small bell chiming gently.

The question caught him by surprise; he did not expect the blonde to say anything further. Looking up with slightly wider eyes, Soona regarded Eiros for a moment with a baffled expression. And then, as a light blush crept into his cheeks, he gave a small chuckle. "Well...there was a time, when I was little, when I took singing lessons to help with my stutter. It helped...well, for a while. I...I stopped singing as I got older, even though I enjoyed it," he replied softly. A sad smile graced his lips as he recalled, his eyes distant as he focused on the far away outline of the Gods' hill. After a moment, he turned back to Eiros, his blush deepening slightly. "I...I fear that I am not as good as I used to be, if I was any good at it at all. But...if you wanted, I could try," Soona continued, his voice small. He felt embarrassed talking about it, but the invitation slipped from his lips before he could stop himself.

The stag stared in wonder at

The stag stared in wonder at the brimming smile that graced the other's lips once he had spoke. It...seemed to belong there, widening to fit his face perfectly. It was a shame it was not a more permanent resident for the blue stag truly did look more handsome with it than without. And...he had put it there? The thought gave the stag a new swelling of confidence, which birthed a realization. Maybe...maybe this meeting wasn't about him and his nerves. Maybe it was about Soona. Maybe he was supposed to help him...

It seemed silly. How could he possibly help? They were both damaged goods... Yet he had made Soona smile like that. Maybe...maybe it was possible.

Then the stag chuckled. The blonde's ears pushed forward through his hair, attentive to the care-free sound, and then the careful words that followed. His voice sounded even smoother this time, laced with light-hearted emotion. Eiros found the smile he had forced before remained on his lips now under its own accord., and his eyes held steady, attentive to the way his companion's lips moved as he spoke. Soona's blushes were well hidden in the shadow of his mask, but the blonde took note of the way his tone changed as he awkwardly forced out the last bit. Was...was he offering to sing? Well, in a way. Eiros' eyes widened a bit as he considered this, and while his gut told him to hesitate, taking the blue stag's obvious nerves into consideration, he could not hold back the smile that worked to completely consume the lower half of his face at the idea.
“...Would you?” he inquired eagerly, meeting and searching the shy stag's eye with a glimmer of intrigue in his own, "I would...love to hear it."

Incidentally, Soona felt the

Incidentally, Soona felt the exact same way when Eiros smiled as well. That gentle curve in his lips just lit up his whole face, his soul. He looked even more beautiful with such a smile, if that was even possible. That feeling of wonderment never once left the blue stag, even when Eiros's smile would melt into a frown. He prayed that he wasn't having a cruel dream as he wont to have. They were a common affliction, after all. But, no...he was reassured by Eiros's warmth, his scent, his mere presence.

That chuckle... It lit Soona's eyes up, and he could not help but laugh softly along with the blonde. Soona quickly found that Eiros's gentle laughter rivaled the beauty of the soft chiming of his single bell. That lovely smile in itself was genuine, and to see it broaden lifted Soona's heart. He suddenly felt as if a heavy weight had been lifted off of him, and his posture relaxed visibly against the tree trunk. He could get used to this feeling of complete relaxation...no worries, no fears... And then, he sat up rigidly, his heart once again hammering away and his ears swiveling nervously. Eiros was...requesting him to sing?

Soona swallowed hard, his throat rough and dry, and then cleared his voice softly. "Th-thank you... I-I would love to," the blue buck replied in a small voice, although a smile danced on his lips again. Taking a deep breath he adjusted his posture once more, sitting up tall with his chin high. Closing his eyes, he exhaled slowly, letting out all the air in his lungs. Relax...relax... His heartbeat gradually began to slow, and his mind cleared of all thought. After a moment, he relaxed again, although his eyes remained closed...and then, he began to sing. His voice was shaky at first, partially from some creeping nervousness, but mostly from years of no practice. Gradually, however, he began to get back into the flow of the song, his voice slowly clearing into the desired pitch. It was a song that his mother used to sing to him when he was little. He still remembered it note for note, word for word, and now he sang it to Eiros. A song just for him. A song of comfort and chaste love, of warmth and hope. The song was more of a lullaby, truly; it was short, but its emotions came through regardless.

As Soona began to finish singing, he lingered on a particularly soft, closing note, and as he fell silent he remained still with his eyes closed. He had seen his mother as he sang, heard her voice. He did not notice the hot tears that escaped the corners of his eyes. And then, slowly, he opened them and lifted his gaze to Eiros. His smile was still there despite his tears, although they were brought upon by happier memories. "It's...it's been a while," he finally said in an apologetic tone, although he chuckled light-heartedly.

Eiros' eyes were warmer than Soona had ever seen them as the beginnings of his song crept from his lips. They were steady; encouraging yet patient. As his voice faltered, his smile twitched a centimeter wider to match the subtle nod of his head. In all honestly, the blonde hadn't been expecting anything angelic from his companion – that wasn't the point. Singing was for everyone...singing was emotion at the tip of one's tongue. It didn't have to sound right on the outside, as long as it felt right on the inside.

That was what art truly was.

Yet Eiros' was...pleasantly surprised by the pureness of the sound eventually coaxed from Soona's voicebox. The words of the tune were equally startling, articulated carefully over his tongue... He could feel the meaning behind them, floating in the air, wrapping around him in a warm embrace. The blue stag... wasn't just singing for his benefit, was he? Did this stranger actually...understand what it meant? The encouragement faded from his expression and his smile softened and dimmed – but was far from going out. No...he simply regarded Soona with something more akin to mutual respect and wonder. The stag did not need his encouragement anymore, his confidence returning and taking flight as his lullaby reached its melodic end...

Eiros' heart sang for him. The air felt suddenly cold and empty as the last note died away, yet the warmth remained within. The blonde fought to contain the emotion that caused his heart to flutter – that made him want to jump up and continue the song himself if not beg for another! But Soona's closed eyes kept him still, tense in the silence. Waiting. When they opened, they shimmered. He was...crying. The blonde stag stiffened, his ears sliding back, suddenly unsure...but the other's smile remained unfaltering through his tears. He apologized, then chuckled again...and Eiros found himself grinning from ear to ear. He was aware of it...but he couldn't help it. It was all he could do not to jump up, trot over and plant a gracious kiss right on his cheek.
“That was beautiful, Soona... If it's been a while, it's been far too long. You should not be so modest.”
His tone was...playful, quiet as always yet light with enthusiasm. He tilted his head slightly.
“You sing as the birds do my friend...with meaning on ever word. That song must have been very dear to you..”

(Ahhh, sorry for the delay; I was busy all day, asdhfugd~ *typetype!*)

(Also, guh...I envy your way with descriptions! ;; )

The blue stag could never, ever be tired of Eiros's smile. The way that a simple curving of the lips lit up his beautiful face made Soona's heart skip a beat. A huge wave of relief overcame him when he then realized that Eiros had actually enjoyed his performance, and a blush crept into his cheeks. He had not sang for anyone in such a long time...or, at least he thought so. He could not remember... Soona's eyes dimmed as he briefly recalled an instance of his past, pondering...but he soon shook his head slightly to clear it, the warmth returning to his eyes. He didn't need to think of such things...not now, while Eiros was with him.

A soft chuckle escaped the buck as Eiros complimented him, his blush deepening slightly. "Thank you, Eiros...you are so very kind. My voice could never be quite as lovely as yours, but I am happy that you enjoyed it," he replied with a soft smile, and he gazed up at the blonde silently for a moment. He was still trying to take it all in...just the fact that a being as lovely and gentle as Eiros was sitting before him could have been enough to convince himself that this was just a dream after all. A cruel, yet beautiful dream.

When Eiros spoke again, Soona internally shook himself of his reverie and blinked, looking up at the other stag with wonderment in his eyes. Gods... It was as if they could read each other. Feel each other... Soona's ears flicked nervously, and taking a breath, Soona replied in a low voice, "My mother would sing it to me when I was little. Whenever I was afraid or worried, the only thing that could calm me was when she sang for me. I just wish that...that I could be calm whenever I think about her or such memories. But...I can't! I c-cannot make the fear go aw-way..." Soona's voice began to waver, and he turned his head slightly away from Eiros and closed his eyes. His body shuddered lightly, his chest tightening. Fighting back the lump in his throat, the blue stag managed to ground out, "I-I am so s-sorry...I j-just..." Although his voice trailed up, he raised his head and gazed off into the treeline, his eyes distant and misty. "I miss her..."

[PFFT these are supposed to

[PFFT these are supposed to be getting shorter not longer! Idon'teven...]

Eiros glanced towards the dirt and slowly shook his head as his new companion continued his modesty. That wasn't the only reason though. He had spied the rosy flush on Soona's cheeks and the sight had stirred a similar warmth in his own. He hadn't any idea why. The blue stag was looking at him with that look again... His gaze wasn't particularly piercing but even still his blue eyes seemed to be staring right through him in all their soft wonderment. Those eyes made him feel guilty, like he...like he didn't deserve it. Why not? Eiros didn't have an answer...

Soona did. To his statement, that is. The blonde watched the male's expression dim even before he spoke in a quiet, melancholy way. A story of his mother. The blonde looked at him in surprise as the words his ears lifted to catch rang sweet with precious familiarity. His smile appropriately faded with the shift in mood. Even when he spoke the blue stag's was full of emotion... and as he reached the end of his story his voice began to break again and Eiros felt his pain. His own chest tightened and his posture sagged as though an unseen weight had been draped across his back. Soona's weight...the weight of everything the stag was going through. He drew greedily for air as the pressure simultaneously threatened to push it from his lungs. The impulse to rise once again stirred within him. To rise and to close the distance and to embrace him and whisper songs of comfort in his ear and-...

...It scared him. It made his body stiffen and his heart pound. It was too much too soon...

His eyes fell away from Soona, who seemed to be lost in his past now. He had to look away for fear he too might want to revisit that place... In fact, it was already happening. The reasons for his insecurity played like a sideshow in the back of his mind, full of pain, loneliness and fear. He fought through them, searching for happiness...and he found his mother. Her gentle smiling face and the lull of her sweet voice. He clung to the image – the sound – and closed his eyes briefly to drew a stabilizing breath.
“I... learned many songs from my mother as well. Music was her passion so I ...guess that's where I got it from. She gave me this bell when I left. She used to wear it around her neck...”
Eiros spoke carefully, his eyes wandering elusively to the silver trinket dangling from his antler before returning to the grass. The light around them was beginning to dim. How much...time had passed since they'd met? It had already been late in the day... the sun would be setting soon. He finally dared turn his head and gaze at the blue stag again. Violet eyes narrowed in sympathy as he once again witnessed the pained look on Soona's face. He wanted to ask questions; What...happened to his mother? Why was he so afraid? … but that was selfish. His curiosity would do nothing but bring forth even more unwanted pain.
“Perhaps the next time you are afraid...you should sing one of your mother's songs instead,” he suggested, the corner of his mouth sliding upward to match the apprehension in his voice. Eiros himself often sang when he was nervous; to him it seemed a fair suggestion.

(OHGOD *flail* Lol, don't worry, I'll make this one relatively short~ Gah, don't fight it Eiros, give Soona some lovins! XP)

In the constricting darkness of his revisited past, Eiros's voice was a flickering candle that cut through the shadows and offered warmth. Soona tore his gaze away from the horizon to regard Eiros, only to find that the blonde had now closed his eyes. That shaking breath made Soona's ears slide back, a soft frown forming upon his lips. Eiros was in pain...he was suffering, just like himself. He did not like to see the blonde like this...such a beautiful and kind creature did not deserve such torment. As Eiros spoke, however, Soona's frown turned into a sad smile, and at the mention of the bell and its origin Soona gazed up at it, his eyes misting over as Eiros shared such a lovely and personal memory.

"It is beautiful," he whispered, closing his eyes briefly as he took in the gentle and almost ethereal sound it made. Just like you... Soona could tell that Eiros was struggling internally, and it broke his heart. He wanted to ask what was wrong, what could he do to make him feel safe and happy. He wanted to curl up beside the blonde, to protect him...to keep the pain away. No...what was he thinking? He had barely known Eiros for a day, and now these thoughts were gnawing at him. He couldn't...it was too soon...

Despite his uncertainties, Soona's smile returned at Eiros's suggestion, and he felt that wonderful sense of joy as the blonde smiled as well. "That is a wonderful idea, Eiros. I believe that I may do that, no matter how silly I may look," he replied with a soft chuckle, and then leaned forward slightly...and stopped himself immediately. He had almost reached in to nuzzle the blonde without thinking, and right after telling himself to not act too rash, of course. You idiot, stop it! You're going to scare him away. Clearing his throat, Soona straightened himself up as if nothing happened, and then casually glanced up at the sky. "Gods...how time flies. You must be tired," he said as he tilted his head slightly, gazing at Eiros with nothing but warmth in his eyes.
Shiori's picture

The stag's smile brightened

The stag's smile brightened as Soona took to his idea with unexpected enthusiasm. The weight slowly began to dissipate as life returned to the blue stag's face, light laughter escaping from his lips despite his eyes still shimmering with tears. Eiros wasn't sure how he'd done it...but this time he didn't really care. His own memories began to fade and he let that satisfaction wash over him in a warm tingling sensation. He laughed too...but only briefly. He was cut off as he watched Soona's weight suddenly shift towards him. The blonde didn't even have time to properly analyze the motion to react to it before his companion pulled back again. Eiros blinked at him, his ears twitching back slightly...but aside from a gleaming of regret in his expression the blue stag was playing it cool. He wasn't sure what to make of that.

“...You must be tired”

Eiros lifted his gaze to the treetops once more, sighing. The blue was beginning to pale from the sky, making way for sunset colors. The birch was particularly beautiful then...
“Yes...a bit,” the blonde lied. He had the fortunate – or unfortunate? - circumstances of never being very tired, requiring very little sleep. He hadn't slept at all the night before, but even then...he had borrowed enough of energy to sustain him. So why lie?

He...he needed to think. And he had something to do...

“You should be too...keeping up with my can't have been an easy task the past two days,” he mused lightheartedly, lowering his eyes to give Soona a playfully knowing look.
Uruushou's picture

Despite shifting his gaze

Despite shifting his gaze away from Eiros as he corrected himself and leaned back, Soona could not help but notice that the blonde did not react too disgustedly. In fact, he did not seem to react at all. He was not sure how to feel about it...surely, the stag noticed. If anything, Soona's expressions betrayed him. Perhaps he noticed, but didn't think much about it. But maybe... Stop it. Just...stop. The blue stag held in a defeated sigh, his ears sliding back slightly out of shame. It took him a moment to finally glance back at Eiros, and watched him as he looked up at the tree canopy. Soona took in those youthful and unmarred features, the soft skin and the gentle curvature of Eiros's muzzle, chin and lips. So much perfection...and Gods, how he glowed in the setting sun's light. He was...ethereal.

Soona continued to gaze at the distracted buck, simply entranced, but when Eiros spoke again he quickly shifted his gaze away and discreetly let out his breath. As usual, he was being unbelievably foolish; no wonder Eiros was so wary of him! But...he did seem to be warming up to the blue buck, if not a little. A slight smile tugged at the corner of Soona's mouth, and he managed to cast his gaze upward to meet the blonde's violet eyes. "I...I must apologize for behaving the way I did. You must have felt terribly uncomfortable. I just...I-I wanted to get to know you. You are so much like me...I was beginning to think that I wouldn't be able to relate to anyone here," he replied in a hushed voice, his cheeks becoming rosy out of embarrassment. The playful look was reassuring, but nevertheless Soona felt awkward about the whole ordeal. He may have been many things, but he certainly wasn't a stalker. Eiros just...clicked with him. Somehow, he knew that he must get to know the blonde. In retrospect, for once he did not regret following what his heart ordered him to do.
Shiori's picture

“Well for future

“Well for future reference...coming up and saying hello works just as well,” the blonde responded, his left brow ticking skyward as the other furrowed in dubious amusement. Eiros was teasing him now...a fact that surprised even himself. While he was always friendly with others, strangers generally saw nothing but politeness from him. Light-hearted banter was reserved for-...
Friends.
Friends...was...was that what they were now? What they would be? So soon? It felt wrong. He was sure his own trusting nature was betraying him again, but... It also felt right with Soona. The male was real, soft and gentle... he was raw emotion. The blue stag puzzled him to no end with his attentions, make no mistake...but was it something to fear?

Soona's blushes were contagious. Eiros had no reason to feel embarrassed yet the color washed over his cheeks in response. The blonde blamed the fluttering in his stomach on his empathy. He could see the blue stag's reaction, and so he felt it too...that...that was all it was. Turning his eyes away, the stag stared at the ground a moment to regain some control over his emotions again, then carefully slid a foreleg out from under himself to rise. His eyes were stung by a brilliant orange light once he cleared the shadow of the long-grass. It washed over his brown pelt, muting it, his yellowed spots becoming nearly completely washed out by a similar warmth. His antlers gleamed as they reflected the light. The stag squinted, staring into the fiery ball half-concealed in the distance, then turned back to Soona with a look of regret and uncertainty twisting his expression. It vanished quickly with the tiniest of smiles.
“You're forgiven... We should...meet again soon, perhaps? I think I would love to hear another song.”
Violet eyes shifted awkwardly away as pale lips pressed together shyly. His words were not as much a confession as Soona's had been, though. Eiros really wasn't sure how to respond to those. Soona related to him... Soona wanted to get to know him. No, you don't, the blonde thought dryly, but then his stomach twisted. He... wanted to see the blue stag again... but he couldn't wrap his head around why. He was too resistant to the truth – whatever it may be. Shaking his head, a quiet, nervous laugh escaped him.
“Well, I...really should be going. I'm sorry it has been brief but I...hope you feel a bit better now.” Eiros' expression reflected his genuine warmth, though his ears remained slanted back. He shifted back and turned his head to search the horizon in the direction he planned to go.

(Haha, I do hope that Soona

(Haha, I do hope that Soona didn't spook Eiros again by plopping down near him! I just left him there while I was cleaning up around the house. Yay, TEF background noise! c: )

The blonde's comment was met with a chuckle...not nervous or sad, but genuinely amused. Soona felt flattered that Eiros was being so playful, so friendly considering the circumstances. He was not sure what he did to garner such reactions, but he thanked the Gods that Eiros decided to give him the time of day. Rejection from such a wonderful creature would shatter his heart...and Gods knew that he had had enough of such in his past life. His ears slid back as he began to reminisce, and then quickly cleared his mind of the darker memories. He had no desire to think of such things while in Eiros's company; the stag was too much of a joy, a wonderful distraction from his worries and fears. For the first time in years, Soona felt as if he had finally made a friend...or, at the very least, an acquaintance. He could feel Eiros's uncertainty, his tendency to hold back and not speak his mind spoke in volumes. However, Eiros was not shying away from him either. The buck was interested in Soona's company, and that was enough to make the blue stag blush all over again.

Watching color spread over the blonde's cheeks was both amusing and enthralling, and Soona's heart never felt so light in his life. Oh, how he wished to nuzzle those rosy cheeks, to plant a friendly kiss upon them...but it was much too soon. Truly, with regret, Soona did not doubt that Eiros would never allow such actions from him. But he supposed it didn't matter...as long as he could find a friend in the other stag. The blonde was standing up, now. Blinking, Soona looked up at Eiros, and when he caught that regretful expression he frowned. He knew that eventually Eiros would have to take leave of course, but a part of him...no, all of him wished for the blonde to stay. Soona longed for contact, for the security of resting beside someone he trusted...but he mustn't be selfish. Eiros had his own life, his own choices. He would never push anything on the blonde.

His frown quickly melted away at the smile, however, and returned it and chuckled at the request. "Dear Eiros, I would be most honored to perform for you whenever you wish," he replied with a twinkle in his dark blue eyes, and then after a pause he added, "And if you do not mind, I...I would love to hear you sing again as well." Soona smiled warmly up at Eiros, but his brow knitted slightly as the blonde looked awkwardly away. So many emotions were radiating from the other stag, and he wished to know why. It hurt him to see the blonde act this way...although he knew he was being a hypocrite for thinking so. After all, Soona was practically just like him. He could not express his emotions or feelings very well to others, although with Eiros, he believed that he could soon make an exception.

And now, he wished to leave. Of course...Soona's company probably wasn't the best in the forest. His heart heavy, Soona was unable to hold back a look of disappointment although he quickly cast his gaze down to the earth beneath him. Don't be this way...don't be foolish. Let him go...he needs his space. With a small intake of breath, the blue stag looked at at the blonde, a tight smile upon his lips, his eyes slightly dimmed. After standing up, he took a gracious half-bow and regarded Eiros warmly before replying, "Y-yes, of course. Please, do not worry...I am very much grateful for your company, no matter how brief it may have been." In fact, it felt like it lasted for days. Deep down, Soona wished their meeting didn't have to end. "I would very much love to see you again, Eiros. You are...you have been so kind, and... I-I enjoy your company," he continued in an awkward stammer, shifting nervously from hoof to hoof slightly. He was never good at good-byes...he never had to make many, but they were difficult nevertheless. But this wasn't good-bye; Soona would see the blonde again. Or, so he prayed.

He glanced back, and there

He glanced back, and there was sorrow in Soona's eyes. The blue stag was all politeness as he said farewell, but there was a thick tension in the air as the two stags stood and stared at one another. There seemed to be a mutual unwillingness to make a move. Good-byes were never pleasant for Eiros either...but the blonde was often the one to initiate them first. For him, it was a necessity. Necessity. He repeated the word in his head over and over as he gave his new friend another full-bodied glance. There was much he wished to know...
“Have a...pleasant rest, Soona.”
He couldn't take it anymore. With those brief words, an acknowledging nod and a forced smile, the stag turned and traipsed off through the grass. The birch forest was on fire...or so it appeared, the brilliant orange and red and pink reflecting off the smooth white faces of the trees to bounce off his surroundings. The blonde barely noticed. His eyes remained glued ahead, staring into nothing with his legs moving in auto-pilot as his thoughts immediately began to whirl. He didn't look back.

[Naw it was alright, he was sleepin' while I was writing the last post ha. SO I guess that's it! ...Nowwhat.]

(Meep, lemme post a quick

(Meep, lemme post a quick ending post~)

Just as Soona was about to wish the same for Eiros, the blonde took off, his stride befittingly graceful. It only made the blue stag's heart ache even more as he watched the other buck gallop off beyond the tree line, his coat shimmering in the sun's dying glow. He felt as if he were catching the fleeting glimpse of an unobtainable dream. With a shaking sigh, Soona collapsed carelessly where he stood and pressed his shoulder against the trunk of the birch tree, his eyes still fixed on Eiros until the blonde vanished on the horizon. Swallowing back the lump in his throat, Soona curled into himself, his body lightly shivering. He suddenly felt cold, empty. Letting out a strained sigh, Soona tried to relax and focus on sleep, but it would not come easily. "'Til we meet again, sweet Eiros..."

(Ah, alrighty then! Poor Eiros~ ;; Yep, I guess so! Hm... Welp, I mean, did you want to RP out when Soona ended up being injured? Or do you think that that would be rushing things?)
