Dancing In a Dream [SABEL interaction Blog]

cloudandis's picture
An interaction blog for my main, Sabel. Come on in and say hello, why don't you?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The air was crisp and thick, fog obscuring the world and all that lay within it. Every now and then rapid hoofbeats and the sounds of tines hitting each other could be heard. And then it would fade... fade into a new sound. The laughter of fawns as they passed, the chuckling of a group as they shared experiences and stories. Yet all of their figures were vague and dark- making any features indistinguishable. Their silhouettes wavered as if they were flames.

'I'm asleep again...?'

Concerned voices and questions from strangers and familiar company. They grow louder and louder, buzzing until-

A pair of deep grey eyes flutter open, spluttering and spitting out dirt as an ebony and white uni-deer flopped over onto her back. She was in the pit at the ruins, and had been there for almost a month now. Dirt and sand had crumbled in, burying her and keeping her out of sight- as well as getting into her mouth and nose. Coughing, the doe quickly stood up and shook out her fur. Clouds of dust burst from it and slowly faded into the air, settling back on the ground. her throat felt quite dry, which certainly wasn't aiding with the coughing. Ears faltering back against her skull, the doe began carefully climbing out of the pit.

"That was probably the worst place I've fallen asleep in... ack!" she choked a bit. "Water... pond..."

He's lucky he doesn't get

He's lucky he doesn't get crushed. The doe hardly looks were she was going before jumping, if she'd miscalculated the little demon would've had worse then a few sores. Some of his bones would have definatly snapped. But, as it is he was already halfway across the blue bowl and too pumped to actually get mad at a potential squishing. Helmut spins around and whirlwind sprints back to the laughing stranger, racing a few loops around her before plopping down and laughing with her.

Her head and eyes followed

Her head and eyes followed him as he raced around her, causing the uni-doe to become incredibly dizzy. As she sat up and tried to focus, she could see just about five 'Snakes' in front of her. "W-wooah... I didn't know you had friends out here." Sabel chuckled, slumping back over into the flowers. The world was a blurry mess for a few seconds before she'd managed to blink all of that disorientation away. Up above them, she was looking at something that briefly glimmered in the sunshine. It was a wind chime, hung on one of the thinner birch trees. It jingled slightly with a gentle breeze.

He continues grinning at her

He continues grinning at her crookedly and shook his head at her reaction to his speed. He was fast after all, super fast. The little demon nods and daintly eats some of the blueberries, carefull not to get any of the blue juice on his already whacked out pelt. The easy going demeanor changes instantly when he sees her staring at the trees. He's imediatly on his feet with a growl in his throat, already ready to scream the birds out of the tree if nessecary. But it's not crows that hold the dusty doe's attention, it's something else. Helmut squints quietly at the far away thing, listening to its soft noise. It's lovely, a fact that annoys him. "How'd that get there...." He asks softly.
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.

Sabel chuckles and sits up a bit. "A friend gave that to me as a ... 'house warming'... gift?" she stated, tilting her head at the statement. Her eyes softened slightly, and her ears drooped. "I intended to make this a home." she explained, curling her tail around her hooves and watching his movements with some interest. "What's wrong? Do you not like it?" she asked in a confused manner, her ears twitching.

"I...haven't seen one of those in a long time." In his mind's eye he pictures a different wind chime swaying in the eaves of an old house with peeling paint. He rembers what had happened that day like it was yesterday, a calm before the storm. The little demon blinks away the memory and turns back to the doe as he hears her talk of a home. "Homes are hard to find kid." He tells her quietly, tilting his head back up to watch the chimes again. "Naw, just thought you might have seen a fucking crow."
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.

"Sometimes. But the forest is very giving." she replied, smiling and wiggling her hind legs a bit. The dark uni-deer's tail swished and flicked in the grass a little restlessly. Though, she could see that her companion was drifting off... elsewhere. Perhaps thinking of something. Though her brows raise and she frowns as he seems to mention 'crows' with a strange look of disdain. "Oh... they don't come here. Or well, even if they do it's very rarely." the uni-doe replied. "Though, one time I saw a huge crow leaving The Old oak!"

"Hmp. For some anyways." He admits grumpily, still staring at the wind chimes. His lips lift in a snarl at her mention of crows in the old oak. "Damn them...they're always watching." He growls quietly.

The stranger's words were quite vague and ominous. Watching? The crows? But why? She couldn't really remember if something like that had happened before. As the doe pondered this, she made a decision in her head. "W-well... if they bother you that much, you can always come here. It's usually very quiet since everyone comes here at different times." she offered.

"Yeah, I haven't seen any in awhile...it's making me jumpy." He confesses, debating for a moment whether or not to tell her more. Well, what the hell. "Someone's been watching and following me for a long time now. They send crows..." Helmut shudders and shakes his head, a muscle jumping in his jaw. "If you don't mind, I think I'll show back up here. Say hello and stuff." He nods slightly.
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.

Someone was using the crows

Someone was using the crows to spy on him...? Could it be the same person who afflicted him with his punishment? Ominous. A frightening thought. It was no wonder he had been paranoid earlier. "No- please. Don't hesitate to come if you need to. You will find that this place is quite safe." she assured him, glancing off into the distance. With this new information, she'd have to make sure that the birds remained at a distance. A look of relief came across her face, looking back up at the wind chime. Her friend had said it help magical properties... maybe it could help protect them? Moving over, the unidoe carefully cleared away a few flowers and berried before digging and pulling up some soil where they had been looming over. She kept digging until the hole looked slightly larger than him, and was decently deep, before moving over to display it to him. Then, the doe began arranging flowers and berries- around and over it. "if you see any coming near- you can hide here. Though, the berries and flowers still offer much cover without it." Sabel explained.

(( He's gonna love meeting some folks who can transform into birds. :'D))

His face twitches into a smile as he watches her dig around in the dirt, creating a little safe place for him. She reminded him of Eloa in some ways, caring and thoughtful. But E would never, ever think of picking him up though, never. Once it's finished he daintly picks his way over and settles down, checking out his new digs. The little demon doesn't have a heart to tell her about the extensive network of tunnels he's made during the three years he'd spent here or about the burrow he shared with E only a few feet away. "If it fits I sits, and hey, it fits!" He exclaims, crows momentarily forgotten. "Ain't this the coolest shit? Thanks....kid. It's nice." And it is, it's too nice, suspiciously nice. Was she working for Them? He squints at her and sighs. This was exhausting. She didn't look like a crow minion so he wasn't going to suspect her...yet.

(oh god, he's going to massively loose it when that happens XD )

Watching as he received the

Watching as he received the little hidey-hole quite well, Sabel let out a small whinny and her tail thumped up and down. disturbing the berries and flowers behind her with joy. She hadn't noticed his expression of thought and suspicion, but was relatively grateful for company. Though, her thoughts turned to those who would otherwise have been here- if she hadn't fallen asleep so suddenly, so often. Although there was a brief glint of some sadness in her eyes, the doe had hope that she would find them once again- soon, hopefully.

"Say, have you ever been to strange places? New Places?" she asked, having gone into a long pause of deep thought.

The whinny makes him curse in

The whinny makes him curse in suprise and jump slightly. That had not been a noise he'd been expecting. He murmurs something like 'geez' and shifts his weight. The silence settles around them but it's a nice silence. It's actually really okay having someone to sit with. The little demon doesn't catch her now saddened expression, he's too busy resting. For once he's full and as safe as he could be with someone who might be a new freind.

"Huh?" He asks distractedly before picking up on the question. "Hun, I'm a demon, I've lived in arguably the fucking weirdest damn place there is. And...there's...here." That makes him frown, this place was amazingly odd. "Besides that...I dunno, human's place gets pretty strange sometimes."
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.

Based on his answer, he'd indeed been to other places- and perhaps even lived in one. Though, the term human caught her attention. It wasn't quite uncommon for it to be mentioned from those who were not born here. "Hm... I think I've only met one or two like yourself." she replied, settling onto the flowers and laying there. "What do you mean by 'human's place'?" the doe asked curiously, setting her head on the grass.

"Suprised ya haven't met more

"Suprised ya haven't met more of us, for a neutral territory there's fuckton of demons about." He remarks matter-of-factly. "You know, the mortal world? Topside? Where the Gods are faraway and barely trouble with the affairs of the mortals. There's quite a few different human worlds. Normal earth's one of 'em."
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.

Unfortunately, this only

Unfortunately, this only earned a look of confusion and forced the doe to start thinking about the places she had been to. They were all different, yes- and had names. "There was... a world of sand... a world of poison.. but so far that's all I know." hey replied honestly, slumping over a bit. It was frustrating to lack so much knowledge. "Mortal? Topside?" the uni-doe echoed, her ears raising a bit. The term mortal was often used for those who lived short lives, and were very fragile. This description fit humans the best. And what he was saying could be confirmed by her past endeavors. "I.. see. I think."

"Sand? Hmm...probably a desert...Sahara? And poison....could definatly be a post-apocalyptic place, radiation maybe." He ponders quietly, trying to make sense of it. "Yeah, ya know, the humans. Topside, up here, not you know, underground." He clarified.
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.

Chuckling a bit at Snake's

Chuckling a bit at Snake's terms, she shook her head and sighed a bit. "Both were lovely, in their own ways. But both had many undesirable things." she explained, reminiscence a bit. "The world of sand had a blazing sun, and its humans held strict traditions. But in their world, what they made was beautiful. In the world of poison, humans did not walk equally. It was hard to breathe, and risky to consume anything. But even so, there was a strange ... effort, it held. To keep some strange order." the uni-doe continued.

"Oh- I hadn't... though of it that way. What is underground like?"

"That's humans for you,

"That's humans for you, almost anything can kill 'em but their tough as nails." He says, admiration in his voice. "They make do with what they have, nothing less, nothing more. It's pretty....they're really something special." Helmut'd learned that many here hated humans, ironic since so many bore human faces. Maybe he was biased because demons needed humans around to function topside.

"Ohhh...home is like nothing you've ever seen, it's...beautiful though most don't realize it." He tells her, already starting to smile. "There are nine circles of hell, the first few are cold but it gets warmer as you get closer to the planet's heart. But as you get further along it gets colder and colder, the ninth circle is full of ice. I've never gone that far so I've never seen Him but I know He's there, everyone does." He doesn't think about how she might not know who He was.

"So many people think hell is ugly." He smiles up at the wind chimes. "But they're wrong. There are halls filled with crystals that glow with this amazing blue glow, they look like stars. There are places where great bones poke through the floors and walls, these huge reminders of the creatures that came before us. Some of them have fossilized into jewels and minerals you'd have to see to believe, bones that have turned into opals and rubies." The little demon misses it dearly, three years have passed since then. It was very likely it'd be many more years before he could return, if They didn't kill him first. "Oh there's dirt, yes, spiderwebs, yes. And yes there are terrible things too. But what place doesn't? It's a terrible beauty. Just like this place, just like Humans. There are miles of tunnels, caverns so large you could fit this forest in it with still waters that reflect the stalactites that took centuries to make." He goes quiet for a long time, lost in thought. Listening to the gentle noises of the wind chimes ringing. "I...I...miss it. I miss it...so much." He says softly.
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.

"They build so much, and

"They build so much, and think so much- but all too quickly, lose too much." Sabel replied, thinking about how humans lived and tried to do so many things in so little time. Their desperation. They would seclude one if it threatened many, they would trick each other for better or worse. Though, this was not unique to them in all respects. Just- for some reason, more common for their short time. "They feel so free, yet so restrained. To create so much, but to be able to do so little."

Snake appears to become lost in his visions of the place he longed to return to, yet his description brings Sabel much curiosity. What were crystals? They could shine and glitter? And a place with so many changing temperatures- many beings must live there, and not stray far from the one they are used to. But one term that rang true to her memory was 'jewels'. In the world of sand, she has been introduced to jewelry- one of the many precious, beautiful things humans tended to make. Yet, remains of others... did that mean that they died often? Or that they simply took longer to leave no trace at all? It was a strange concept- as only one thing in the forest that had died currently remained. Bodies would vanish, or be taken. Her facial features relaxed into a distant-eyed look of contemplation, looking down at the grass as her head lay on the ground. "I have no memory of the word before now. Hell. The word itself is very strong in presence... but this sounds like a new world- with both good, and bad things. Why would one think it meant something 'ugly?" she asked uncertainly, glancing over at Snake in his hole.

However, she is met with a gaze of longing- directed at something unseen. It was something unfamiliar- as, though she had often felt it through some others, she had never witnessed any here who would openly display such an emotion. "Why can't you return? Were you told not to?"

"It's 'cause they know. They

"It's 'cause they know. They know f'n minuscule they are to everything in the universe, they know that there are trees that have lived longer than they have and that there are flies that live only a few hours." He smirks quietly, thinking about the hosts he'd had over the years. "They know how old the earth is, just as they've found the beings that became them. They see the stars, they've named their universe and know that that's just one universe amoung thousands. They know more about Mars then they know about their own ocean, and that's just wild." The little demon shakes their head in admiration. "They see how small they are and still try to leave a mark. It's insane, but they still do it anyway. For the short time they've been here they've learned so much and yet....all humans know how little they know too."

Look at him, getting all philosophical. Yuck. He listens to her question about hell and starts laughing. "Oh boy, kid, that's a fucking loaded question! We could argue the semantics for years, and not get anywhere. Hell's like the ultimate bad place, where the bad or mislead people end up. Like, you know, child killers, and well, that list's endless. But a lot of good people end up there too. Most of the fallen for example." He growls a little with the last sentence. "People assume it's a horrible, ugly place. It's...not. Well, not all of it. Some of it is..but hey, it's hell, what'd you expect?"

Why can't you return? Were you told not to? He sighs and glances away from her. "Do you know what banished means?" He asks her softly. "Well, I messed up. Broke a lot of rules. I'm banished from home and all other worlds. Maybe permenatly. They're doing this to me too." Helmut indicates himself with a nod. "It's a just punishment. But, I still want to go home someday. My freinds...." The little demon trails off and shakes his head.

She was not experienced

She was not experienced enough int he human world to fully agree with what Shake was saying, but the uni-doe understood how he was marveling at it. But that begged the question of whether they truly left anything other than memories, as much else faded away in the human worlds. Though his explanation for the world he called 'hell' was somewhat confusing. Why would only those who have committed crimes in their lives be sent there? And if he'd done something to get pushed out of such a place, what could it have been?

"I think I have heard the word one other time... but I never fully understood it." Sabel replied, pursing her lips and narrowing her eyes in thought. "And they watch you, to keep you from coming back..?"

"I can't go back, the portals

"I can't go back, the portals have been permenatly sealed, and they know that." He tells her, wondering how she's never heard of hell or a version of it. Helmut glances 'round at the trees, squinting at the shadows that the leaves cast against one another. "Truth is....I don't know why they're here. Maybe whoever wants to see how the punishment's going or they intend to kill me after a certain amount of time passes." The little demon shrugs matter of factly. " Guess I'll find out soon enough."

Glancing back down as she

Glancing back down as she ground, Sabel rolled onto her back and watched the sky. Who knew that something so pretty and vast might hold something so scary? Eyes that would watch you for mysterious reasons. But if he didn't know why they were watching him, maybe it wasn't the same creature that had cursed him. Though, her eyes were growing oddly heavy. Perhaps it was due to oversleeping? She could not be sure. Her body was still drowsy. "I hope they do not seek you out, here." she replied, leaning back onto her side. "It's... safe." she muttered. The uni-doe's eyes fluttered briefly before closing. They felt a little sore.

He snorts at that, "Thing is,

He snorts at that, "Thing is, I probably know them. Demons ain't known for being particularly freindly." It's about then that he sees that the doe looks like they're about to fall asleep of all things! Then again she'd confesed to sleeping for months so...definatly Rip Van Wrinkle. The little demon stands up and stretches, rolling his minuscule shoulders before daintly stepping closer to the other. "Ya falling alseep again, are fucking serious? Ya should be bouncing off the damn walls, few months sleep my ass." He grumbles at her, already settling down by her side. He's prepared to keep watch for awhile if she does fall asleep. If she doesn't he'll just sit here anyway and grumble. He enjoyed grumbling. "You okay dust bunny? The whole hibernating thing ain't natural."

"Oh? but you seem so nice."

"Oh? but you seem so nice." she replied, hearing his little body moving closer. His response was a little surprising. "It... used to be different, I think. But I don't remember when that was, or if was even longer." Sabel told him, trying to think back. No, remembering wasn't possible around that time. All she remembered was waking up near the starting season of the rut, making new friends... did she have any friends before that? She must have. "I've heard that before. I remember a friend trying to help me fix it, too." the raven haired doe explained. Most of what she did remember was fairly recent- just before she fell asleep again. After a few minutes, she'd stopped talking and lie still. Soundlessly breathing, sleep had whisked her away.

'Maybe we'll meet again when I wake, Snake.'

(I think this is a good point to end it for now c: for this encounter. But if you'd like, we could role play at other times via skype and such. Sabel was pretty glad for his company.)

He rolls his eyes at the

He rolls his eyes at the 'nice' comment, everyone fucking thought he was cute. Why? He was scary damn it! The little demon analyses what she's telling him, listening very carefully for once. So it was some sort of problem, maybe even...life threatening. Hopefully not but it was better to be a gloomy-Gus then to be a dead Gus. As it is Helmut can't do anything much, being blocked from all of the worlds. "Narcolepsy maybe?" He mutters, half to himself, shifting even closer to the other. She's already asleep. He grumbles a bit at this and pokes her gently with a hoof to see if she's faking. She isn't. "Goodnight kid." He mumbles. The small one will stay there for awhile before stealing away, but he comes back dragging a somewhat tattered blanket that he tosses over her. In the coming days he'll stop by ocasionaly, making sure nothing had eaten her and sometimes just coming to listen to the wind chimes.

(Perfect! That sounds great, I'll take you up on that sometime soon)
