crossfire hurricane : KEITH | The Endless Forest

Note: Keith has access to three worlds rather than the usual two. He exists primarily in the human world, and usually enters the Forest after passing out whilst drunk/high in this world. However, due to his growing reputation in the place known as the 'otherworld', he often finds himself trapped in that realm against his will. In the otherworld, Keith enters the Forest when sleeping. Memories of traumatic happenings in his current life may or may not be remembered whilst inforest.

APPEARANCE

Mini Spell; Beluga/Monarch/DoTD Butterfly Pelt; Hands Mask; Default/Peacock Antlers

A scrawny sort of fellow, toned yet strangely skinny at the same time. Smaller than the average deer - somewhere between a mini and regular-sized. His legs seem to be too long for his body, and he retains his human face and hair in deer form. human reference there, he's the one on the right. His hair sticks up randomly in places, scruffy and black. Eyes are amber/brown. Pelt can be drawn as black or blackish grey; short and scruffy, but longer on the chest, with a small blondegold tuft on his upper chest. His ears are very large, tufted. Black hooves. Barely-noticeable scars on his very lower back/rump. bad deer ref.

He doesn't have antlers; he scratches, bites, headbutts and shoves others when fighting. His size does not make him weak.

TRAITS

FREE, ANTI-AUTHORITY, UNTAMED

At all times, he must be free and unrestricted. Keith does not react well at all to being in situations where he feels trapped or is unable to do as he pleases. With a strong anti-authority attitude, he refuses to show respect to those he believes to think themselves 'higher' than him; Keith is of the view that beneath everything, everyone is the same at the bones. He does not respond well to orders and commands and often refuses to follow them or does the exact opposite, due to a fierce need to rebel. Repressive, captive situations have deepened his piratical need for freedom to a faulty degree; many find it infuriating and frustrating. Keith does not often compromise or see reason in this sense.

Closely related to his need for complete freedom to do as he wishes is his refusal to be pinned, cornered, tied or otherwise restricted in movement. Keith does not like to be surrounded, and although he is normally an affectionate creature, at times he may prefer a large personal space to keep to himself.

Keith also refuses to be claimed by anyone, referred to as belonging. Terms such as 'pet', 'good boy', and 'mine' will be swiftly rejected and are likely to snap his temper very quickly. He hates the idea of somebody leaving a mark on him that can be seen by others; for example, the scars on his rump. After a fight he is likely to be very anxious of wounds and whether they will scar him or not, often appearing overdramatic because of this. Keith tends to avoid forest fights, partially because he is at an unfair disadvantage with his lack of antlers and small size, and partially because he fears scarring.

Due to the above, Keith refuses to call anyone 'his'. He does not claim deer, despite being very protective of some. He is bothered by other deer claiming his loved ones, but this is not due to possessiveness - rather, Keith does not like to see anyone taken possession of, believing that every creature should be as free as they like. As a result he disapproves of highly possessive, unhealthy relationships.

Although he has a very high tolerance for pain, the idea of someone hurting him physically appalls him. He would see it as a form of domination, which is not something the stag can easily deal with. Emotional pain, too, is seen as a weakness; a way of someone getting to him, a vulnerability. Keith tries to refrain from showing weakness, pain, or vulnerability as best he can.

After his will was somewhat broken during a period of captivity in the otherworld, Keith finds himself able to submit somewhat, although it is always temporary and usually done for the purpose of either avoiding pain and punishment, or to gain affection and positive reward.

"I know what it is like to be a coward. I will never go back there."

SOCIAL, AFFECTIONATE, WELCOMING

He is a very physical and affectionate creature, and usually seeks company out, preferring not to be alone for the most part. Sometimes however he will be found sitting by himself; do not be afraid to approach! It's not often he outright rejects company.

Affectionate, Keith is generally unafraid to compliment others and express feeling towards them. To some degree he does have a sense of personal space, which once invaded may make him uncomfortable, but generally he actually enjoys sitting very close to others. Nuzzles are not uncommon, particularly with females.

Keith is quite used to strange-looking creatures therefore does not often judge on appearance; he trusts to some degree until it is proved the person cannot, in fact, be trusted after all. He is particularly fond of the few deer that are smaller than him, since he is used to being tiny in comparison to others.

Due to recent trauma, Keith is afraid of touch in his human form, unless it comes from a woman or a man he cannot percieve as a threat. This is not the case in the forest unless it is a stranger, simply because Keith does not see deer as a threat.

"Being an only child forces you to invent your world."

AGGRESSIVE, TEMPERAMENTAL, PROTECTIVE

Whilst generally a fairly relaxed, easygoing fellow, he does have a very nasty temper when provoked. Keith is not afraid to fight if he has to, and despite his slightly smaller stature and strange build, he is definitely not a weak stag, though of course not the strongest either. Keith snaps quite easily at times.

His mood fluctuates quickly and without warning; he is prone to sudden irritability, annoyance or frustration, just as much as he is prone to suddenly relax and start laughing at nothing in particular.

Keith is protective over close male friends and most female friends; he will willingly fight for them, often even after just meeting them. If he feels a friend is doing the wrong thing he will likely try to change their mind, convince them to do what he considers to be right.

He also finds himself quite fatherly over fawns/children, perhaps due to his own seperation from his children. However, despise this, Keith tends to avoid fawns to some extent, feeling somewhat awkward around them. When he meets a fawn he does like, however, he will stay with it for a long while. Keith hates being chased away by a fawn's parents, seeing at a sign of mistrust, which he dislikes.

"I imagined everything. I never thought it would happen."

ENERGETIC, HUMOROUS, ADDICTED

He is generally full of energy - save for when he's sleep-deprived and drowsy. Occassionally this energetic exterior may come from being intoxicated, but even when sober Keith is naturally quite a hyperactive stag, enjoying leaping and bounding around with other deer. It is common for him to spend a large amount of time bouncing around, and then rest for a while before resuming his play.

Easily amused, he tends to laugh when people try to anger him, when they try to upset him, or even when he's actually upset. Keith seems to find life in general entertaining, both the ups and the downs. He is unlikely to stay miserable for long in the face of worries and problems. Even after severe trauma he has been seen to recover very quickly, though aftereffects still remain.

It's true that he enjoys being under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and believes he can quit these activities at any time. If he is seen to be acting erratically or embarrassingly inforest - treedancing, waterwalking, streaking, etcetera - it is very likely he is intoxicated to some degree.

PEST, ROUGH-PLAY

Keith loves pestering, annoying and frustrating people. He finds it hilarious. Rough play comes into this, too; he's likely to charge up to larger deer and suddenly headbutt them, then bounce off again. Usually this is with males, since he's normally quite civil towards females and does not often feel the need to challenge them. However, if a doe were to return the gestures, he would be glad to engage them in some romping. B)

Normally, he will sprawl himself over larger deer's backs and nibble/nuzzle at them. However, recently Keith has been observed lying underneath, or curled into the side of larger deer.

SECRETIVE

The creature does have his secrets, and he is not the type of man to divulge them - not even to those closest to him. Should he confide in someone, he must trust them with his life. To tell another of his secrets is one of the few ways to lose Keith's trust and friendship entirely - and possibly the worst way, too. Upon discovering this percieved betrayal he is likely to lash out violently, and then withdraw into himself for some time. It is very unlikely he will ever trust the person in question again.

OTHER QUIRKS

- Does not bow in greeting, due to his anti-authority nature. He does have to bow to the Gods to keep his pelt but I request that this be taken as OOC
- Instead of bowing, he will nod and tilt his head at the same time, as if saying 'alright?'

- Loves using forest magic, due to not being able to perform other magic in his world/the Otherworld
- Seems to stick to the First Forest rather than the Birch Forest
- Cannot stand being touched on the rear; may become aggressive or even fearful if this occurs. However, females doing so aggravates him a lot less
- Tends to run to the river for a drink frequently; refuses to drink from the pond
- Unaware of Forest glitches and suchlike

Oh I re-read this and your idea is kind of what I thought of when I first joined this thing. Oh squee~
See, in my mind, my fawn inters the forest via dream. This only happenes when one is rather upset and dislikes his life. So all the deer in my opinion are unhappy with their regular lives. When entering the forest they slowly become happy. So much that they can chose to never come back and thus leaving their true self in a comma like state. The tombstones are the people who left their old life and begun anew.
....My mind is quite messed up.
Anyways I see you have an rp blog, so imma stop spamming here and go pester you there if you don't mind. I really want my deer to interact with this darling. <3
Though he may not like my baby, he isn't really a baby though because he is already growing his horns, but can just be rather annoying to some.
