I just have to rant a bit about this thing. We all need to complain sometimes when somebody offends you.
Here's an article that I believe many TEF fans have already read, if not, maybe you should.

It made me very upset to read this, since I have been roaming the Endless Forest with my character Shulgalaj for several years and still love the game. The article is not only badly written, but also highly offending to those who play regularly.
The article seems to not have understood that all games do not need to be conventionally structured with rules, verbal/literal communication, a goal and obstacles.
The writer of the article diagnoses us all as crazy for playing this game with the argument that "there is absolutely nothing to do in this game". I do not see how that would make a point, since I, for example, play this game just to wander around in a peaceful virtual reality and simply enjoy myself together with others. Sure, the communication skills of your character are not far too high, but the simple body language of the deer is easy to understand. And there is really no need for long, complicated discussions in this game; if you want that, just don't play it.
I think the writer is the kind of person who has never been close to nature and therefor does not understand to enjoy it; and then even less so, a virtual nature. Probably it is a person who does not understand how healthy it can be to just sit down and enjoy doing nothing at all for a little while so all the knots of stress in your body starts to loosen up. I do not think you must be crazy to enjoy that. I do not, either, believe in your theory that this game is nonsense only because "there is nothing to do". I think this game might be good for you; you might learn how to appreciate the smaller things in life.
The author clearly does not understand the other point of it all; this is fun. It is a game where you can have so unbelievably much fun that I might see you don't understand it. You have to get into the game, into the community, of course. Otherwise you might just think "this is bullshit". Because it is no conventional game; it is a game that plays with your own creativity and social skills in a subtle way in a beautiful environment.
It is a game of nonsense, sure, if you see it that way. But who said nonsense is not fun? In my opinion, that's right now very much what the internet is about; nonsensical fun.
As for butt-sniffing, you don't need to sniff the rear if you don't want to. Most people I've seen sniff the front end .It is, in the game, a way of greeting each other. And real deer in nature do sniff each other, why else would they have it in the game? I mean, that's just another quirky fun thing about this game that makes it so absurdly entertaining. I guess you just don't have any sense for humor.
And here is a good video that all criticizers/haters should watch before claiming that people who like something that you don't, have to be retarded, crazy, perverted or strange in some other way.

First i got very upset about it , but i calmed myself down .
It is only a game tester , and in my opinion they are never objectiv !
I have also seen a lot of clips abot Tef from critics and so on and there were a few good critics aswell .

In that first screenshot, that fawn was just mooing and mooing and Quad tried to shut it up by casting a frog spell on it, but he missed and got me with it instead!
Surprisingly, some of those that came to troll us, actually started to enjoy TEF and stayed on!

In both games you could go on and interact with other players. You could create your own character, make your own story etc. The difference between these games and TEF? You had a chat system. Everything else is pretty much the same. I bet the author didn't play a role playing game, because that's what this game, and the other ones, are -ROLEPLAYING GAMES!
Now anyone could argue and say that all mmorpgs are mmoRPGs. But not really. Those games (WoW, LoL, FFXIV to name a few) do not really give you the same amount of room to role play like WQ and IT do because those games have a thing called LEVELS. And levels get in the way of role playing eventually. For if you go in an area at a low level, you aggro monsters and end up dying. Therefore if your fellow rpers decide to go to a certain spot above your level... well, you may want to skip out on that.
Chat system also takes away from the game, sort of. How many of you want to ask what your newly found friend's name is on the forums in game? I do. But, the chat system would also be abused. Even if we have a rather mature community, there's still the fact that we can now rp in game. Which means everyone will be rping at the same time. Chaos I tell you. (And the no chat system is why we don't have to deal with a lot of mess that other games do.)
As for the human-face deer. I, personally, find it both fasinating and disturbing. Human faced deer make me think that humans walked into the forest and turned into deer, so lost children being stuck as a deer is a disturbing though to say the least. And then, any other pelt besides the default ones (on adult deer) with out a mask? ...Lets just say you'll never see Aetaine with out one. (Monarch pelt with no mask is creepy!) Point is, I see why people would be wary of human-deer.
There is no goal. There's no goal in Feral Heart/Impressive Title either! And yet thousands of people play it. For the rp. We do the same thing, we just have no chat system and human-faced deer, yet that makes us crazy? I'm quite sane thank you. And I find it offensive that you don't say the same thing to the other games. /end rant. Back to the "there is no goal". We all have an imagination. Make a goal. Your goal could be to rp with every single deer in the forest. Your goal could be to make the most unique yet appealing character. Your goal could be to write about TEF and show the world that this game is beautiful as it is and that there is plenty of things to be found in this game... if you just use your imagination.
So, to the author of that ridiculously bias post as a closing note, play Wolf Quest (multiplayer not single player), play Feral Heart (because ImpressiveTitle has been down for years now), and replay TEF. THEN go read fanfictions off of TEF. And tell me what makes you think that WQ and FH are better than TEF (because you comparing TEF to other mmorpgs when it truly isn't an mmorpg by slang definition - which basically means any game that has many people playing online going through the same story - is rather stupid, do research) and from what we have shown in our creativity through fanart and fanfiction, do explain how we are crazy.
