[Thought I would try my hand at this, seeing as its been a while and I've naught else to do at work. Open to those willing to put forth a paragraph or two. Thek has a picture on another post. ]
It was snowing. Again. Like it had been earlier in the afternoon, that morning and all the week before. And like those previous days of fleeting daylight it was cold. Always cold. Not unbearably so, unlikely that one would freeze to death in a matter of mere hours, but the woods seemed adamant against reaching temperatures above 'acceptably comfortable' and hovered more around 'undeniably attractive nose dripping'. With a sniffle the small shuffling fawn burrowed further into the nest of foot-deep frozen rain about a dozen yards off from the thick sheet of ice covering the small pond- an offshoot of the main water source that others had gathered about over the course of the day.
The sun was already dipping below the tops of the snow-dusted pines by this point in time although it could almost still be considered afternoon, the short days and lack of warming rays doing very little to resolve the issue of everything being inedible and for this the young Theket lamented with a scornful scowl and abrupt lashing-out of a black forehoof; kicking up a small flurry of the pristine flakes that so matched the majority of his his pelt. While it was admittedly gorgeous very little good came of the irritating sky-fall aside that it helped him stay hidden from unwanted attention while still being able to remain somewhat close to the protection that the presence of the older deer offered in deterring hungry others. Naught but the twin spikes and large ears, both black at the tips, really gave him away while lying in the little hollow he'd dug to defer the slight, but piercing, breeze, passing the time by watching the small gathering of stag and doe alike at the main pond with the single remaining blue eye.
