Hum wrote:How to Find Pages on TEFc (without using the site's search function!)
Have a blog entry you recall some details about—such as its title, a character name, or any other text string—but TEFc's default search function is failing you? (Screenshot 1) Never fear! We will call upon Google's "Site Search" function. (This also works for other things, such as screenshots of posts on Tumblr or Reddit! If ever you see a screenshot from a website with text in it, this trick often works!)
1. Isolate the domain you want to search. In this example, we'll be searching "https://endlessforest.org/".
2. Isolate the text you want to search for. In this example, we'll be searching an old character's name, "Atvana".
3. Hop over to Google, or use your URL bar if it's your default search engine.
4. Enter "site:", followed by your domain, followed by your search term(s) in quotations (use one set of quotations per term). Our example looks like:
site:endlessforest.org "Atvana"
- "Filtered HTML" input format doesn't allow HTML to work
- Use "BBCode" instead. If you have code that will affect the entire page (for example, a background image), make sure you click the button "Split summary at cursor" and put any coding in the lower box. You will need to put something in the upper box in order to keep the formatting. If you do not wish for the text in the upper box to show on the full post, un-check "Show summary in full view".
- Username displays multiple times under "Online users"
- It just does that sometimes.
- No longer able to edit a comment
- Someone replied to it and it is now locked for editing
- Site posts multiple/duplicate threads or comments
- This usually happens when you press the submit button more than once. You can't do much about duplicate comments, but duplicate posts can be deleted by going into the thread, clicking "Edit" at the top, and then "Delete" at the bottom.
- There's another deer with the same pictogram in the game
- Usually not. This is most often a player who is not logged in, and it will "borrow" your pictogram. Other users see their own pictogram. This is usually how you can tell it is a "nameless" player.
Occasionally two different pictograms will appear very similar but have a small or hidden difference because of the way the glyphs overlap, but this is less common.
