I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I started my landscape paintings all over again. With two weeks to complete it, I have had no inspiration. I need some stimulus.

When I say landscape, what words, feelings, senses or stories come to your mind? Be as simple or as descriptive as you like. More importantly, what does landscape mean to you?

To me landscape summons up

To me landscape summons up vastness. An environment where I can be lost even if there is nothing to hide behind/in...a desert or dry lake bed, a salt-pan, endlessness where the sky and horizon blur.
You could also look at the human body as a landscape, I have seen that done with interesting results!

The fresh mountain air fills

The fresh mountain air fills my lungs. I open my eyes and see the land roll high, and ripple in the distance much like the waves of the ocean. The farther away they are, the more the fog seems to conceal them.

I take in all the colors of the trees in the autumn. The greens are still there but surrounded by yellows, oranges, and reds. They cover the rolling mountains and give an appearance of boiling magma.

Listen to the birds as they sing all at once. Listen to their voices in this morning. They give beauty to the wind that carries their song to my ears.

I calm myself, and take it all in at once. The smell of fresh dew and pine. The taste of musky morning. The sounds bringing life to it all. The wonderful breeze, just barely cold to caress my skin. And the wondrous sights of the changing trees upon glorious mountains.

This is my landscape.
