TEF Censorship: what is and what is not acceptable?

Because I am genuinely curious.

From what I've seen within the community there is a big motivation here to shield the younger members from more harsh content (language, violence, sexuality) which I can agree when it's done in a respectful manner (by both artist and those requesting censorship). Yet I've seen that sometimes work slip through the cracks of this censorship. Which got me thinking, as an artist and writer, what should I be posting?

I draw and am working on human anatomy. Sometimes this means I show a lot of skin in my work (anybody who's seen me draw Queze knows this) but I don't tend to draw sexually charged stuff. When I write I often use romance and violence. Does this mean my work is still ok to be submitted? If so, is there some sort of balancing act where more sexual pictures (kissing for example) are ok as long as there isn't much skin showing? Is content of any range (obviously not talking pornographic) of content acceptable as long as it is properly warned in the title? Is there a separate set of guidelines for literature and art (which there should not be, in my mind)?

I'm not looking to cause any fighting, I'm just curious and would like to have some more concrete guidelines for what I post here. And please, don't say "post whatever you want, don't let people stop you." if I felt that way, believe me I would do it. But I respect the will of the community at large to have certain restrictions.

Human anatomy isn't something

Human anatomy isn't something I think children should be kept in the dark about (there are Eyewitness books on the subject in children's libraries that show everything.) I also think that what they do and don't see should be up to their parents who don't appear to care much if their children are on a public forum full of adults and older teens such as this.

This website isn't under any restrictions for what is posted and the members here regulate that themselves.
I'd go by my own morals. Anatomically correct drawings wouldn't offend me and shouldn't bother younger players.

I agree with Starcreep,

I agree with Starcreep, techincally anything is acceptable but use your own morals to judge what you feel is appropriate.

I reeeeeeaaallllllly dislike

I reeeeeeaaallllllly dislike censorship as an artist, to me it just makes me feel like someone's trying to hold me back DX

So yeah, I do go by the whole "Do whatever I want and not care" thing most of the time, but if I do see someone getting offended by it (and they're being nice about it) I'll reign it in. Because I'm generally a very crude person >.<

That's one reason I don't use much...ermmm...colorful language here anymore, to respect the wishes of other players as well as those who don't appreciate that sort of thing.
Yet crudeness is my character, UI just learn when to use it.

I can see that side of censorship, to respect the wishes of others (proctecting the young is bull to me, they find out soon enough whether they want to or not. It just takes that one time when Google safe search accidently gets turned off and....|D) but not everything an artist does is for sexual or hate reasons. I can see the naked human figure and not think of it as sexual, I look at it through an artist's eyes and see the different curves and lines and how the light plays on it. It may actually take me a few minutes to step back and actually remember what I was looking at. Same with violence and gore, I see the emotion and the colors, I don't always see the hate or physical harm.

I guess basically what you should do is be respectful of other's wishes, and just think about what you post. Go ahead and post whatevr, but if you think it may offend someone or violate censorship, put up a warning and don't show it directly, provide an outside link to the piece. Sure anyone can still look, but if they complain, well, they got a warning and it was their choice to still look XD

I'm always up in the air with

I'm always up in the air with this. I think nudity and anatomical study is amazingly artistic and beautiful. Some of my own writings are certainly....graphic(though I have gone in and removed some of the more blatant ones). I say...post what you want, but if it's nudity, maybe put it under a break, with a warning in the subject line.

I might be biased because I

I might be biased because I got let into figure drawing classes since i was pretty young, and did a lot of art history. a friend visiting our house once looked over at the art reference shelf and went 'you guys have a lot of books full of naked people!'
I don't have a problem with whatever posted here, I just think if it's something with nudity, buckets of blood, sexual content, etc. it should be posted under a cut, with some kind of warning of what you'll see if you click.

Alright guys, thanks for

Alright guys, thanks for clearing that up for me. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be crushing any toes lol.
