Stupid impulsive buying...

I feel kinda dumb today. Have you ever bought something thinking it was going to be really cool and then finding out you were really too old for it?

I did some early Christmas shopping and bought some things for my family. I got myself a couple of them as well because they were something I liked (and I'm a pack rat).

So I go home, try it out, and it ends up being something that's really only for kids.

I'm 22, the youngest of my family, and I bought one of these things for each of my family members, including my parents.

Is it a huge deal? Should I just not worry about it and see if they like it anyway? I mean the thing for kids is really optional, they don't even have to do it, but still I kinda paid a lot of money for these things not to really appeal to my age and older.

I dunno...I'm kinda bummed...

Edit Okay yeah, I bought some webkinz. I got myself the deer and reindeer (obviously), and I got my mom one of the dogs (looks kinda like my dachshund), my dad an elephant (University of Alabama fan), and my brother a black cat (cause he likes cats).

My plan this year was to just do gift cards, but I was going to buy each of them like five giftcards to places they like. So I wanted to bundle them all up with something. I was going to make stuff, but then I thought about those things and was like, "That could work, I guess."

So I bought five of them - the two deer for me and the others for them. I put in the code for one of the deer and it basically was Neopets all over again...

I mean if that's the reason why they were so expensive then I feel like I wasted my money. I spent $60 on the things.

Sigh...

I guess it will work...and I have two new deer plushes to add to my collection, but I wish I would have known what the website thing was like before I bought them. I could have done something cheaper, you know.

Edit 2 - I guess it's alright. I played the game a little and actually had fun with it. I guess I was expecting it to be different. I just hope my family likes them when I give them to them for Christmas...

If it makes you feel any

If it makes you feel any better, you aren't the only one. XD; In fact, I'm twenty-one and I'll admit to having a webkinz or two. That, and even my twenty-year-old brother has a few beanie babies, (but I never said anything). I wouldn't worry about it too much. XD

Webkinz? I have a few

Webkinz? I have a few Webkinz. Granted I -never- go on unless I'm EXTREMELYANDEPICLY bored because its not my thing, but my fourty-something year old aunt is obsessed with them as is my whole family. My GRANDMA is in love with them, she pretty much owns them all! It just depends on their taste, I guess; it has a lot of puzzle games and activities for retired people to pass time with, and its really cute and still improving, so don't take them back. <3

Same here, I still sleep

Same here, I still sleep with my old stuffed animals... And my baby blanket... And a lot of old embarrasing stuff... I even broke out my old binder of pokemon cards... Yeah. I couldn't bring myself to sell them, it would be like selling away a part of my childhood... Don't bring them back, just see what they think. Sometimes (this dosent work for all households), but sometimes our families buy stuff just for laughs! Either way, everything will be ok!!

I'm 19. The closest thing I

I'm 19.

The closest thing I have to what you guys are talking about is some figures I bought a week ago from an anime. They were $10 each and they came with different hands/weapons so you could change the poses and stuff. I was messing around with them in the car when I bought them and my dad just gave me strange looks.

I still have my Pokemon cards and even that Pikachu thing that they cam out with that you hook to your belt and earn points from walking.

I go to bed every night with two stuffed animals that my boyfriend has given me as gifts.

I still have a stuffed whale that my mom made me when I was 4 and a Balto stuffed animal I bought on a trip when I was 6 but they're put away.

I still have a binder with some old comic that I started making when I was 12.

I think those Webkinz are a great idea! You bought animals that are related to your parents in someway and an animal your brother likes. I think it's cute, but not necessarily childish! So if I were you, I should just give them ^^

And btw, my room is filled with stuffed animals. I have 16 at my bed (most are for decoration though xDD) And in total 80 or so. And I keep on collecting them and I'm not ashamed of it! I think things like that don't have an age limit :3

The problem, though, is that

The problem, though, is that I'm a guy. It seems to be acceptable for girls my age to still have plush animals, but for guys, I tend to get looked down on.

People think there's something horribly wrong with me that I still sleep with plush animals. They expect me to lift weights, play violent video games, stare at women, ect. And that's just not me.

I guess this is going beyond what my original topic was about, but it sucks when people who are different are looked at as being inferior rather than unique.

The Divine Trilogy

Well, if it helps you think

Well, if it helps you think about it this way-- you'll always be accepted and unique right here! I was accused of being weird too-- I was expected to wear makup, and go out with boys every few hours, to listen to (c)rap, and to be with the "in" croud. I found someone who I deeply love, and she taught me everything was going to be ok. (No, I'm not a les.)... I know it's different, knowing we're in cyberspace-- and this is our only way of communication, but just know in your heart that you are unique and its ok to be like that... Your proud of your Celtic heritage right? Well-- so am I!! And that's awesome!! I don't know about you, but I live in a very small town (MAX 2,000 people), and it's extremely hard to find someone that even knows what your going through (or who your not related to). When you do, it's like the sky is burning and everyting you thought about yourself flys away, and your left with an un-masked person, who you can be proud of.

Think of this time in your life as a "meta-morphosis" (sp?), and soon enough you'll see what I'm talking about.

Now with the Webkinz, do your paretns look down upon you because your different? Or do they embrace it? Because if they accept it, then they should have no problem with recieving them, knowing WHO YOU ARE. No one else needs to know what you bought them for Christmas.

Wow, I typed a LOT Sorry... Hope this helped. Know we're here for you...
