The Picture Diary of Hyacinth, 5-6-09 (first)

Since Hyacinth doesn't seem to use words in any way, I was stumped for a long time as to what to do to reveal and record her thoughts. After a while, I just said "pictures." But, somewhere into compiling her first, now-lost, set of screenies, I got the sudden, nudging feeling that I should edit them the way I think she would -- to better show her emotional state or somesuch. I'm still not confident in the style yet, but I'm working on it. I like this idea, so here's my first posted go at it. I'll add a bit of commentary, as well. Don't judge...

There was someone in the pit that she couldn't see...worrying. The fawn eventually came out. It was a loud fawn, which is never a great thing.

Hyacinth is interested in spells do things that seem "wierd" to her, like turn two deer into male and female twins.

A sitting observation of Toukan, who she seems to have taken a liking to (maybe it was the flowers?)

Just a little light frolic-ing. She seems to have hit her real enjoyment of her playtime around here.

Opportunistic snuggling with a sleeping Toukan. She felt a little nervous getting near him, a stag she just met...

munch, munch. By the way, she is very upset with me that I got no screenshots of their walk to the lake. I agree. There were some very nearly in-synch bits in that walk, darnit.

Sitting on a log with Toukan and a watching fawn she doesn't know (but liked). This is the bit where I started humming Penny's portion of "On the Rise" from Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog in my head... I'm not sure where my brain was going with this. I doubt it's anywhere safe.

Just a little fawnwatching.

I thought Hyacinth seemed

Laughing out loud I thought Hyacinth seemed to be standing a bit close. Toukan was wondering about that himself.
Interesting editing you have here. I like how you selectively give things an "aura". At least, that's how I see it.

That's generally the way I think about the edits, as well -- auras seem to be for things that really interest her, like flowers and movement and particular moments. I don't know what the little trails on the bottoms of her antlers are -- I think if I try drawing her, I may find out.

I like having two deer walking or sitting very close. Now that you've brought it up, I think she won't have the nerve to try again if they meet again...^^; (and I hope they do. Hyacinth doesn't have many close bonds, and this one feels like it'll be close, even if that closeness is one-sided. I had a sort of gut reaction before I realized it was Toukan.)

As a human, I have Toukan as a bit of an empath. He's a bit of one as a deer too, but not so much if that makes sense; so he noticed something, but was pretty much clueless. Just made him wonder is all. But Toukan likes to make friends with everyone. =]
