Note: changes in how I'll be playing TEF

From now on all my characters see your characters as they appear in game.
This includes size, general appearance like colors and antler shape, and most importantly, species.
I judge gender based both on appearance and behavior.

I do not check the Community Site map while playing and will not hunt down bios while playing.
If your deer looks vastly different than they appear in game, I'm sorry but I will only respond to what I see in-game.

Why?
I've been having serious issues playing legit characters in TEF for the past few months. This ended in me retiring Queze, which I did not want to do. I still love him as a character and would love to play him but several things have made it very challenging for me to play him in the way I want.

These being:
- The large number of characters who have designs that are not possible to accurately represented in-game.
- I do not have enough free time to play TEF for several hours like I used to, so it frustrates me that I am expected to check the Community Map for each character I interact with, just so I can see what they are.
- It's impossible for me to to stay In Character jumping between The Site and The Forest doing that.

Queze as a character would respond differently to a carnivorous creature like a dragon, wolf, big cat, demon, ect than he would a normal deer. I want to have him respond in-character but more often than not, am not able to because I have no way of knowing what/who he is interacting with.

SO, I'm making some changes to how I play my characters. Hopefully this will make it possible to play him again! Since I start school again next week, it won't be an instantaneous 'oh look Queze's back!' deal, but I hope that when I get breaks like weekends ect I can throw him in for an hour or two.

A smart way to go about it,

A smart way to go about it, Tera (: I had been wondering where Queze had gone, though I never did have any of my deer meet him, but still.

I hope Queze will be able to meet loads of new deer once I start playing him again, yours included!

I hope you'll get the chance

I hope you'll get the chance to throw him in sometimes; I've certainly missed him, and I know Seed has, too.

...I'm also a little... Bothered/puzzled by the number of characters whose designs can't be modeled in-game in significant ways, so I'm a little glad not to be the only one who's trying to find ways to deal with that.

Queze and Seed had so much

Queze and Seed had so much fun back when I used to play him, I can't wait for them to get to romp around again! I'm also glad I'm not the only one who's run into this issue, I've been musing over how to work around it for quite some time. Hopefully this works out.

Amen brah. Most of the time my map glitches out anyway. I just kinda gave up in being nosy in the end.

You do your thing. I've been pretty much doing the same thing myself for a while. I can imagine it would be a little weird for some of my more active chars to just be standing around while I hastily check up on the map.

A big approval from me. It's annoying how people make their characters look completely different and they are unable to show what they look like in game.

Fortunately as far as my characters go, they're pretty much as they appear, aside from a few minor things like Pema's strings or Nekumbra's spider legs.

^ Yeah the same. I don't have

^ Yeah the same. I don't have characters who are preety much outta this world in forest but still, it don't hurt to have a few imagative licenses like Junipers long tail and dragon-face, Tulio's mosasaur skull and horse tail, and Leon owl/cat anatomy to name a few.

Very true, Alinaquil. Alice

Very true, Alinaquil. Alice does have a white mane and a bit of a different tail to a deers, but some are just over the top. :|

Hooran: I think it's a case

Hooran: I think it's a case of people just not thinking that it would annoy/ make IC play hard for others. Maybe now more consideration will go into character designs at least in terms of how others will see them In Game.

Quad: Ideally Queze will be able to make exceptions like Nekumbra's legs, but only after he and her have interacted long enough that I/he can recognize her instantly. I can't know everybody's designs unfortunately, lol there are way too many characters for that.

Alinaquil: Of course! I'm in no way saying that people can't design their own character whatever way they want. My characters all have things about them that don't show up in game (like Queze's tail, or Teradeer's missing jaw) but those things aren't vital to how other characters respond to them. I should mention that Leon wouldn't be seen as having that anatomy though, so Queze wouldn't respond to him like he would a cat/owl hybrid.

All: It will take some time to feel out and fine-tune how this new playing style works. I'm not sure if I'll make exceptions or not, out of fairness but we'll see! Ideally this will just be easier for me and therefore TEF won't be a chore anymore.

I quite admire the artistic

I quite admire the artistic license many members take and the creativity they have. It wouldn't be very interesting to have a deer that looked nearly, or completely identical to their in-game set, you know?

I do agree with you on this though. I sometimes find it hard to have my deer act accordingly to some types of characters around here. Some types I just avoid completely. >:

Jala: Totally! What's the

Jala: Totally! What's the point of having a character if you can't make it your own?! lol I've always started off with In Game appearance when designing my characters, but recently it seems like most people design a character and then try and match the design to In Game sets. It doesn't usually work out.

That's ok about Leon. Alot of

That's ok about Leon. Alot of people are actually confused with him as a character when they first meet him, seeing him as a deer until I say "Oh no he isn't a deer at all but an owlgriff." But yeah it's fine C:

LOL I know how that feels.

LOL I know how that feels. I'm currently having that issue with an unofficial character right now.

I wish we could get some more set pieces. A person can dream.. *sob*

I kind of have to agree here-

I kind of have to agree here- only because it's difficult like you say, unless you have pre-knowledge of the character beforehand.

I know my characters have gotten into issues because they've been friendly with creatures who haven't been friendly.

I love the imagination this place has, it's simply stunning and I don't ever want it to end- it's why I keep coming back.

I guess I'm just saying this for my defense just in case more or less my characters don't recognize what yours are immediately.

I haven't used my TEF msn in years, so I actually haven't been online. I haven't been avoiding you Seed I promise! ;_;
I hopefully should appear online now Seed, if msn is working as it should.

And that's perfectly fine with me, even if you don't know that she has the spider legs, she still appears as a regular brown doe, and often walks around with them tucked under her belly. Same with Pema, her strings may be hard to see, so you simply see a minideer walking around. It's why I never brought Iugulare or Anirapio into the Forest, because they would have been impossible to portray as deer.

Though we have not met, I

Though we have not met, I take your response into consideration, massively. Mostly because I respect and I completely agree with it. Take a look at my Kenzu for example, he's pretty much as shown in game.

The only alteration to him are his pelt patterns, but all deers are not the same neh? But yes. I interact the same way you do, in such a manner regarding characters actions to their gender.

I do hope we can meet in game, my Kenzu is very easy to notice with his Picto and his basic Deer set.
