There was a time when I was stronger.

I do not remember such a time, for it was long ago.

To be strong again...to be brave.

I wish I could tell you...

I hope, someday, you may understand.

I am caged...

Awoke in a haze within the cage at the ruins, feeling weak and a little disoriented. At first he thought that the encounter he had with Caine last night had only been a nightmare, but when he noticed the stargazer lily that Caine had placed beside him while he was unconscious, he realized that it was not a dream at all. Although he was disheartened, he carried the lily in his teeth as he wandered aimlessly, trying to clear his head. Almost immediately felt sick to his stomach when he suddenly picked up on Caine's scent, and he turned the other way toward the pond where he sought refuge by an oak tree.

Was soon approached by Tandem who quickly picked up on Liam's distress. When the crow-deer came up to greet and and ask what was wrong, Liam broke down and poured out to his friend what had happened between him and Caine that night. He spoke of how guilty he felt, and how he had ruined everything between them. Gradually, Tandem's gentle coaxing and advice helped put Liam somewhat at ease, ever grateful for his company and kindness. When Caine suddenly appeared, Tandem politely took his leave to give them privacy, although Liam began to feel anxious as his friend left. The fear had returned, even though Caine appeared incredibly dejected and sorrowful.

Despite everything that had happened, and despite Liam's fears and worries, the two ended up making amends. Caine apologized for how he acted, and insisted that he was the one at fault. Liam forgave him, and the pair spent the rest of the night embracing, their relationship rekindled.

history Not much is known about Liam's past. However, he has been neurotic his whole life and fears making the wrong impression on other deer. He has a major inferiority complex, and dreads confrontation.

notes For whatever reason, random deer may send Liam into a shivering fit. He is very wary of deer that wear skull masks, as he cannot see their faces. He may take a playful gesture (rearing, bowing antlers, etc.) as a threat, but with coaxing he will become more relaxed. Liam has always been attracted to other stags, but he fears showing this side of himself as he believes that he will be damned by the Twin Gods. Despite his faults, Liam is very playful and loves to run around. He adores fawns, but he may not trust other deer right away. He has an affinity toward butterflies and the cage within the Ruins.

I think...that everything will be alright. Tandem, I am so sorry for ever getting you mixed up in this. Please forgive me...I don't want to lose you. Caine...I am still a little afraid and uncertain. I saw a side of you that I wish I could have never known existed, but...of course I forgive you. I still love you, no matter what. I believe that things will get better soon. Please...don't forget about me...

Oh, Caine...where are you? I'm so worried, and I miss you so much. I feel so empty without you... I need you now more than ever...I'm afraid I'll do something that I'll regret. I just...I can't live like this, Caine. I want to feel your warmth again, taste your lips, feel your heart beat next to mine... Will I ever see you again...? Please, be safe...I'll be here...

August 20, 2011

The last time I had seen your face...how long has it been? I...I don't even want to think about that. But...you waited for me. Gods, you waited for me. Caine...words cannot express how much I love you. I was lost, afraid I'd lose you forever...but you waited for me. I love you so much, Caine...I will never, ever leave you again. You have my heart, now and always~ ♥

Oh Caine, I have missed you so much... I...I do hope I was not too smothering. I have missed your touch, your warmth, your smile. But you are here now, and I could not be happier, love~

May 18, 2011

Caine... I have never felt so happy in my entire life. Words cannot express how much I care for you, and how relieved I am to know that you feel the same way for me. I...I have been afraid to express myself like this, but you have shown me that there is nothing to fear. I am yours, Caine...Gods, I love you...

No, please...oh Gods, Caine...I am so very sorry. Please...please don't run away. I...I need you... Please, come back... Please...

Caine...why must you fight? You are so sweet, so kind...but you turn into something else, something darker when you feel threatened. It...frightens me, but I cannot run away. I feel that I must quell whatever storm has begun to brew. I don't want to see you or anyone else get hurt... It would tear me apart. I am sorry I nuzzled you...I know it makes you uncomfortable, but, I knew it would make you back off if not just a little. I am so sorry, Caine... Please do not hate me...

I have not seen Incubus in several days, and it truly pains me. I was so happy to finally feel connected with another, especially a stag...but now I am convinced that he was just part of my imagination. Something that I could only dream of and never acquire. But then...I found Caine. Or, Caine found me. He is...so very different from me, but he accepts me for who I am. I feel so baffled, so relieved... How could a powerful stag such as himself not want to drive me off out of disgust or anger? Caine...I feel so safe around you. I want to get to know you better, if that is alright. I feel...free. I don't have to feel afraid anymore...

May 6, 2011
Incubus... I do not know if we had met through chance or fate, but I am very happy to have crossed paths with you. Overjoyed, truly. I feel so awful that you are in so much pain... I want to go after those who had hurt you, but I am too weak and afraid.
I suppose the most I can do is keep you company, and...I have this feeling inside of me, a warmth that grew as we spent time together. I do not know what you would think of me if I were to tell you... I do not want to lose your trust so quickly. Please, get better... I won't be far if you wish for my company...

April 28, 2011
Today I met the strange doe that Woden had previously told me about. He told me that she was odd, and not like him or I. He didn't go into detail, but I felt he was holding back something important. She's...different. Afraid, like me. My heart went out to her when one stag began to bellow at and taunt her. I could not understand why she was being treated as such, or why she forced herself to eat those grubs. She did not look like she enjoyed them...
I have decided that I should not question her behavior. After all, I am not exactly one would call normal, either. Still, there is something about her...something that seems foreboding, and yet I cannot help but reach out to her. This doe, Nekumbra...I will watch over her, and make sure that no one hurts her. I will try...

April 26, 2011
I have been coming across and playing with the faerie stag for a couple of days now, and he is the best company I have had in such a long time. His name is Woden, and he is one of the more fascinating deer I have met. His energy and all-around appreciation of life brings joy to my heart; I cannot help but smile when he runs around.
Curiously, although he is small (well, sometimes) he seems to not be afraid of anything. I find that admirable as well as enviable. I wish I were as brave and trusting as him. I suppose I have much to learn about myself still, but I am very grateful that he and I are friends. The Forest is becoming brighter by the day.

April 25, 2011
I happened across a doe whose pelt was as dark as the night sky. She seemed shy, unsure...much like me, I suppose. I stayed with her, curious about this deer who is so much like me.
We were soon joined by a skull-faced stag with a striking coat, and although I could not see his face, I did not fear him. It is odd, but I could sense that he was not like any other deer I've met. He was whimsical, and bowed to trees...I believe that he is a spirit, or a faerie perhaps.
He spoke to us of the whispers upon the Forest's breath. Its secrets are all around us, it seems... I still do not know how I arrived here; I can hardly remember the last harvest season. Perhaps if I listen more, I will learn in time.

April 23, 2011
The Forest became brighter today. I crossed paths with a stag whose pelt bore a striking resemblance to my own. He greeted me warmly, and we kept each other company for quite a while. It is strange... I felt as if I could immediately trust him. When we were approached by an aggressive deer, he protected me...I had never been treated with such thoughtfulness before. I am not sure how I feel... I only wish for his company for just a little longer.

After yesterday, Caine just

After yesterday, Caine just didn't feel right; something was nagging at his conscience, it was that "morality" thing he'd heard so much about, and he didn't approve of it a bit. But that was exactly what had coaxed him all the way from the other side of the forest to seek out Liam. That fight last night.. hadn't settled with him well. It wasn't the opposing stag that he cared about. That guy, he couldn't give a damn about, and didn't regret what he'd done when territorial and dominant drives kicked in for him. In the presence of his allies, that was made even stronger, and he had refused to quit until the other deer submitted to him.

Jonah shouldn't have been shocked by that behaviour. Surely, Aloy wasn't either. But Liam.. Liam had gotten between them, and Caine had feared that he may have damaged the young buck in the process. As he neared the side of the lake, he swallowed uneasily, fixing his sights on the golden buck. The air was cold, and the rain made it colder, but the real chill was the fraying of nerves and the shivers that shot through him as the distance faded.

Finally, Caine paused at the water's edge, eyeing Liam nervously.

"... Liam.. I wanted to talk to you about.. about last night. All that happened, and stuff.. I'm.. I'm sorry," the dragon-stag mumbled, casting an unnerved glance off across the water's surface. "I know that frightened you, I just.. just have a short temper and that guy.. something about him, I didn't like it." But that wasn't what was important. That wasn't the real reason Caine was here.

After a long pause, he bit his lip behind his mask and swallowed his pride.

"You're not hurt.. are you? I know you tried to get between us and stop it. I swear, if I hit you at all.." Hell.. you jerk, you're meant for Neath if you did. "I didn't mean to scare you like that. I feel.. protective around you, it could just be because of what you've told me, or how much you trust me or something like that.. I don't know. I want to keep him AWAY from you, not keep you away from me."

Clamping his jaws together tightly, he felt his face heat up beneath his mask, simply from remembering how Liam had nuzzled him to drive him off. Why did that set him off so much? He shied away, just like he did when any other deer tried to make affectionate contact with him, but as Liam had pursued him and done so repeatedly it had gotten his heart to race. For those few long minutes, he'd been distracted from the fight that flared up his temper in the first place, and could think of nothing more than how it felt; how this strange, foreign contact felt to him, and how it made his fur bristle pleasantly. Or, at least.. he'd thought it pleasant, at the time. Even without the feeling, the thought had his fur bristling again. Maybe that was just the cold though.

The rain was welcomed by Liam, even as he took shelter from it beneath one of the willow trees beside the pond. He looked out over the water, watching the fish twirl gracefully beneath the raindrops' ripples. It was a calming sight, indeed. He exhaled slowly and lightly shook his nape loose of rogue raindrops, feeling warmed by the presence of two more deer that slept around the tree beside him. Suddenly, for reasons that he could not explain, Liam felt a familiar presence approach from behind. The fur on his nape bristled curiously, his ears swiveling as he tested the air. That particular scent graced his olfactories, one that he knew very well. Caine...

The golden buck stood and turned to face the dragon-stag, his heart pounding in excitement and nervousness. He was happy to see Caine, but he was still a little unnerved by the fight that went on yesterday between him and the random stag. Liam believed the fight to be unnecessary; he wished that Caine could have just walked away. Then again, Liam was a pacifist and did not have the standard male desire to protect one's territory. Still...he knew that he and Caine were very much different, but that was not a bad thing at all...was it?

Liam returned the gaze and took a few steps forward, closing the distance between them a little. His ears swiveled as Caine spoke, and a very soft smile graced his lips. Caine was...apologizing to him? Liam could admit to himself that he never would have expected such, seeing as how arrogant the hybrid was...and so hearing those words touched him and left a warm feeling. "Oh, Caine...it is alright. I know you felt threatened by him, and you had every right to defend your territory. I...I just scare so easily, but it's not because of you. In the past I have...had my share of aggressive encounters, but not on my part. I just become frightened when fights happen, because I fear that someone will get hurt. Please believe me when I say that you yourself did not frighten me," Liam replied quietly, chewing on his bottom lip as his cheeks flushed. He felt so embarrassed...why did he have to be so sensitive? He was shivering like a helpless doe yesterday! He must think I am pathetic...

The young buck regarded the hybrid with nervous eyes when he paused, the silence seeming to last forever. When Caine spoke again, the concern in his voice was so very clear that Liam almost took a step back in surprise. He did not expect the hybrid to ask if he was okay, and that warmed him greatly. Does he...does he really care for me? He wants to ...protect me? Oh, Gods...dear, sweet Caine... It was then that Liam remembered: he had been hit a couple of times due to foolishly stepping between the feuding stags, but he was not sure which stag was the force behind them. He had a scrape on the inside of his left front leg and along the side of his jaw leading down to his neck, but he prayed that they were not noticeable. He did not want to bring that up with Caine...the hybrid would only feel more terrible, and may even become angered and look for another fight. No...it was nothing. He would not mention it.

Cautiously, Liam leaned forward a bit to sniff reassuringly at Caine's mask, and then shook his head slowly with a small smile. "No, Caine...I am alright. I...I am fine, really. It's...it's okay, really..." His voice trailed off for a moment as he tried to figure out what to say next, but the words just found their way out on their own. "You say you wish to protect me... You have no idea how much that means to me, Caine. I...I never thought I would ever meet any deer who would do such a thing for me. For this, I thank you. Thank you... Sometimes I think the Gods crossed our paths," he continued softly, his blush reddening slightly, and he had to stop himself from planting a small kiss on the bony muzzle. No...that would not be a good idea. And then, he remembered.

"And...I am so very sorry for nuzzling you, Caine. I know it makes you uncomfortable, and it broke my heart to do it...but I knew it would make you back off or distract you, at least for a moment," he explained in a shaking voice, and let out a sigh. "It was stupid of me, I know. I...I promise I will never do it again, Caine. ...unless you'd like me to." The last sentence was meant to be spoken in Liam's mind, but it somehow found its way out in, thankfully, a very soft breath. He prayed that Caine had not heard it.

As Liam had turned to face

As Liam had turned to face him, Caine was certain he must have hesitated. He felt his heart begin to race, his legs lock up, wanting him to stand in place; they became numb, as numb as the rest of him in this cold, wet weather, leaving him longing for shelter anywhere. Even the crowded Oak would do now, as long as he could be warm and dry.. but there was no amount of warmth in the world that could quell Caine's nerves. Not now.. not with Liam eyeing him, eyeing him expectantly, earning a similar look back from himself.

"... I understand, I've never thought that anything you do is without reason, Liam. Not without good reason either," the dragon-stag murmured, cracking a nervous smile beneath his dragonic mask. It shouldn't be surprising to him, and it wasn't, not with how Liam acted so much of the time. Maybe he was nervous and hesitant, timid by nature, but to become so wrapped up in fear so quickly there must have been exposure to something awful. That thought alone brought a frown to Caine's face, unseen behind the skeletal helm. Poor guy.. and last night didn't help I don't doubt.

There was another long pause as Caine's eyes found their way to that blush; that sweet tinge of colour across Liam's pretty face, the tinge that made it all the more endearing. Clamping his jaws shut tightly, the stag pinned his ears back promptly and shot an uneasy look off to the side, swallowing back a bit of nervousness as he felt his face heat up again. Yeah, again.. not again, just go away, stop it, this is so damn stupid. You're being a wuss about it.. quit it, now. He could have smacked himself for that, if it was physically possible. Maybe he'd turn around and slap himself with one of his little wings. That might work. Caine snorted lightly at the thought.. and decided against it. It'd be way too conspicuous, even for him.

Aside from jumping a little once he finally noticed Liam sniffing at him, he had to perk his ears up, turning to face him again curiously. His words weren't falling on deaf ears exactly.. but that expression made it really difficult to pay attention. An awkward cough at the end as he turned away again, and he shook his coat out again, sending water flying in all directions. Anything to keep his mind off.. how cute he was.. hell.

The whole world might as well know by now with how badly he was hiding it. He was usually a good actor.. but clearly, now was not one of those times.

"H-heh.. y-yeah, well.. it's fine, don't worry, just.. just don't do it again," Caine muttered, flustered. "I'd tell you if I wanted something like that.. not exactly giving me a good impression by using it on me as punishment though. I'm getting better about it but just.. don't. Okay? Just don't." The hybrid exhaled a defeated sigh. Whatever, he was just done trying now. He flinched as a single raindrop slid in smack-dab into one eye through the eyeholes in his mask, giving a colourful yell and a curse before winding up flat on his rump on the ground when his back legs slipped out from under him in the mud.

....... Perfect.
Uruushou's picture

Liam's heart sank a little at

Liam's heart sank a little at Caine's reply. He had expected him to react as such to the nuzzling fiasco, but deep down he had hoped that the hybrid would have reassured him that it was alright...that he did not mind. No...don't be stupid. He does not like me like...that. He's just frustrated with me. There's no way he's attracted to... The golden buck blinked as he took in the emotions that Caine was giving off. He was frustrated, yes, and embarrassed...but not because of the fight. The hybrid was trying to hide something, but what was it? Could it be that he really...felt a certain way toward Liam? Is that why he wants to protect me? ...no, don't be foolish. There is no way. Why would any stag like him want to deal with a pathetic, doe-like creature like me?

As much as he wished to believe that Caine felt as such, Liam forced himself to push those thoughts aside. He was overlooking things, and it was going to get him into trouble. Caine was already wary around him...Liam was not even sure how he still tolerated him after what he did yesterday. And so, Liam lowered his head and nodded slowly, exhaling in defeat. "I will not do it again, Caine. I...I am so sorry... Please forgive me..." Punishment? No, never...it hurt Liam that Caine would even treat it as such. The golden buck bit his lip and lowered his eyes, his heart heavy.

The slip, of course, was unexpected. And, of course, Caine's profane shouting scared roughly ten years off of Liam's life, making him jump a few feet in the air and fall onto his own back. He lay on his back for a moment, staring wide-eyed up at the gray sky in bewilderment, not even blinking as raindrops landed on his face. All four of his legs were in the air, frozen in place. Indeed, he had been startled into premature rigor mortis. "Wh-wha...?" was all he could manage, forgetting for a moment that Caine had, indeed, slipped in a comical fashion.
Xemi's picture

Caine startled again when

Caine startled again when Liam jumped, going wide-eyed with a blank, fixated stare as the young buck went flying. For a bout of silence lasting no less than ten seconds he stared, simply stared, in complete and utter bewilderment. Then, with a snort, the dragon-stag burst into a fit of uncontrollable laughter, stopping to half-choke partway through before continuing on in hysterics. He'd tried to get up, but the blissful comedy sent him right back down into the mud when his legs (reduced to the consistency of jello) gave out beneath him. Good Gods, bladdar don't fail me now.

Once some of it settled down, Caine staggered to his feet, legs still shaking fiercely beneath him. But with an arrogant grin he stepped closer, standing square over Liam, gazing down at him dauntingly; hind hooves just shy of Liam's rump, front ones lingering on either side of his shoulders. The stag leaned down to look him straight in the eyes, tail giving an amused flick behind him.

"I fell on my ass," he clarified, giving another soft snort and cracking up slightly. "And I intend to keep it as nicely clean as the rest of me. So once you remember how to move those fine legs of yours, come down to the Crying Idol with me, if you want. I'm no prom queen but hell if I don't get this outta my fur it's gonna stain all to hell and that's just not right." With another quiet chuckle Caine stepped over him the rest of the way, careful not to step on him of course, making a beeline for the creek.
Uruushou's picture

As bright and humor-filled as

As bright and humor-filled as Caine's laughter was, Liam didn't even really notice it as he continued to stare straight up. His chest rose and fell quickly as he tried to process what had just happened. The small of his back ached, and he temporarily had the wind knocked out of him...and then it all came rushing back. He had completely spazzed out right in front of Caine and made a fool out of himself. A flush rose in his cheeks, and he managed an exasperated sigh. Now he's never going to take me serious, if he even did to begin with. Good one, Liam.

And then, Caine was standing over him...looking down at him. Liam froze as he gazed up at the bigger stag, his throat going dry and his heart pounding wildly. Time seemed to slow down and even stop entirely as Liam stared into Caine's eyes, seeing how much they were filled with warmth and mirth. He then found himself taking in Caine's sheer physical power: the scales beneath his fur, the leathery wings mounted upon his shoulders, the lean and defined muscles... Oh, Gods... Liam's cheeks had never been so warm in his life, and he felt like he had been holding his breath for hours. A tingle formed in his belly, a warm and pleasant sensation that spread to his hooves.

Liam then blinked when he realized that, oh yeah, Caine was talking to him. Thankfully he caught what the other stag was saying, and he laughed nervously along with the hybrid. It was then he noticed that he had begun to instinctively lean up a little, neck extended... No... He quickly sank back down and remembered to exhale, finally. As Caine stepped over him, Liam flicked his eyes up...and miraculously, he didn't suffer a nosebleed. Liam shook his head, as if ridding himself of his embarrassment, and then quickly jumped up and trotted after Caine as if he were to disappear any second. "Y-you look fine...despite the fall, I mean," Liam replied absently, mentally smacking himself for sounding like a blubbering fawn. Gods...get a hold of yourself already!
Xemi's picture

Caine quirked a brow at

Caine quirked a brow at first, staring right back into those eyes when he caught onto how fixated they were on his own. For a few long seconds, he might have forgotten to breathe as well, becoming immersed in the young buck's. So rich, so kind, so warm and welcoming.. his heart skipped a beat, and then he shook lightly, suddenly, snapping himself back into the real world as he'd proceeded to step out over Liam just as intended.

Back to the world of the living, the dragon-stag cleared his throat abruptly, shaking out his fur again promptly. Unlike Liam, he couldn't agree with that statement, and huffed stubbornly.

"Nah.. my coat stains like mad and my whole ass is covered," he added, cracking up a little again. "'Sides, I'm soaked already, it's not gonna make me any colder or anything. Unless you don't wanna.. that's fine.. just upsetting, I was so looking forward to taking a little bath with you, Liam..~" he hummed, a cocky smirk tugging at his lips beneath his mask as he cast a much too suggestive look over at the younger buck; those sharp gold eyes crawled over him from head to toe, then back up again with an approving little perk of his ears forward.

Then, he turned and resumed his trek over to the Idol, regardless as to whether or not Liam chose to follow.

Caine picked up the pace into a gentle trot along the side of the creek, gently winding its way upstream until the source of it towered above. Carefully the stag made his way down its steep banks, stepping almost gingerly into the water, jolting slightly at first from the sheer temperature (or lackthereof) en masse. His fur would have bristled if not already weighed down by the rain. Regardless, he ducked in beneath the tears, shifting and turning, thoroughly shaking it from his pelt to clean any hints of the mud from it. Ah.. that's starting to feel better.
Uruushou's picture

Liam's whole body froze up at

Liam's whole body froze up at Caine's teasing words, his heart beating anew with nervousness and excitement. Oh, Gods...did I imagine that? The invitation was...oddly enough, a thrill. But should it really be? After all, it was just a quick bath. Many deer bathed with each other. But, it was the way he said it... And that looks...Gods! Liam swallowed hard, the lump in his throat stubbornly refusing to go away. His whole body was aflame as he returned the intense gaze, although he was sure that it was less suggestive and more bewildered.

Move, you idiot!

Shaking his head and drawing in a shaky breath, Liam continued to trot after the demon-stag, catching up with him to the Crying Idol. Liam almost stumbled into the creek as he followed Caine's example, and he ducked beneath the Idol's tears as well. He sighed contently as the pleasantly cool water washed the dirt off of his back and neck, and when he was satisfied he backed up and shook his fur dry. Well...dry enough, considering it was still raining. The golden buck grinned nervously, fanning his tail proudly. "That feels so nice, despite the rain!" he said absently, yet against mentally smacking himself. Could he not converse like a normal deer at all today?
Xemi's picture

Caine snorted lightly as he

Caine snorted lightly as he caught that look back, looking oddly content with that reaction. He would never lie about being a flirt; he knew it, and wouldn't deny it, and embraced all of the constant ego-stroking that was offered his way. Sometimes, he swore it was better than physical grooming, and now was one of those times. And did he ever get a lot of it from Liam, but.. well. No matter how much he wanted to deny it, there was just something about the way it felt coming from Liam that was a thousand times better. It was what had him pick his head up out of its lazy position and hold it higher arrogantly as they made their way to the Idol, no matter how much the weather wanted to drag it down again.

He was still thanking the Gods there was no thunder. He'd be damned to make a fool of himself.. not in front of Liam.

The dragon-stag actually looked a tad stunned when Liam joined him. Like hell he was gonna protest, he was pleasantly surprised. But, he went straight back to his routine of washing up regardless until he was content that his fur was as shimmery white as it should be. The, he followed the young buck's example, hauling himself back up the banks to higher ground to thoroughly shake off, but... not before stepping right next to Liam to shake right off onto him, shooting him a teasing grin that even his eyes could portray.

"Oh.. crap, sorry..~" He mused, turning to bump his butt into Liam's side just enough to nudge him straight back into the water.

Liam had enough time to gasp

Liam had enough time to gasp when Caine gently bumped him, sending him flopping into the shallow water onto his back. He jumped back up quickly, laughing and shaking his fur. "You bully! You did that on purpose, I know it!" Liam called out with feigned anger, a huge grin on his face. Turning quickly, he kicked up his hind legs, sending a healthy torrent of creek water up into Caine's face. Liam looked over his shoulder and stuck out his tongue while making a funny noise, wagging his rump slightly in a playfully mocking manner. "Have a taste of your own medicine!" he giggled, prancing in a circle gleefully while still ankle-deep in water.

To see this playful side of Caine was such a relief, and oh, how Liam loved to play! Despite the rain, the day was getting cheerier, and the awkwardness of not a few minutes ago was quickly being forgotten.
Xemi's picture

"No kidding," Caine shot

"No kidding," Caine shot back, shooting him a wide grin.. only to get nailed in the face with water. After a moment of freezing in disbelief, he gave a rough cough and shook, staring straight down at the buck. The stag reeled around and dove clean back into the water after after him, lowering his head just enough to tag his side with the smooth muzzle of his mask as he lunged at him playfully; just enough to knock him away a little, but not off-balance, not that hard. Even Caine knew the difference between playing and fighting, and wouldn't get too pushy with dear Liam.

"Oh, MY medicine? This is a prescription, sorry.. shouldn't be passing it around, that crap's expensive," he hummed, stretching out his neck to give Liam a gentle nip on the rump with the muzzle on his mask before snorting in amusement and bolting off down the stream into the deeper water. It had been a good while since he'd played like this, it was such a nice break from being on edge constantly like it was, and he welcomed it warmly.
Uruushou's picture

The smaller buck was having

The smaller buck was having too much fun as the two played water tag, not flinching once even as Caine lunged and nudged him. He was surprising himself with how comfortable he was becoming with the hybrid, and in such a short amount of time and after so much awkwardness. It was a miracle, if anything; he doubted any other stag would have given him the time of day after such incidents.

Liam giggled at Caine's retort, and then gasped when the other stag nipped his rump. He stood frozen in mid-stride, eyes wide and mind reeling as he tried to process what just happened. Yep, the pleasant stinging in his rump was evidence enough that he did not, in fact, imagine it. The force of Caine bolting by shook him out of his trance, and despite his initial surprise he laughed gleefully. He bounded after the dragon-stag, tail flagged high, and he dove alongside his friend into the deeper water. They continued to frolic for a while, and Liam never felt uneasy with the threat of Neath or even the deep water itself. He was with Caine, and so he was safe. At that moment, absolutely everything was right in the world, and Liam had never been happier.

As you know, I love the drama, drama is interesting, so I’d be happy to have Daneth rough Liam up a little bit if it makes your plot more interesting. He’s not a bully but he is protective of does he considers his, it would be easy to arrange a "misunderstanding" *chortles*

Oh goodness, I love drama just as much as you do! XD However...Caine is in a position where he is willing to fight anyone who threatens Liam, and he does not give up. He's quite protective~ D: However! When Caine is not online and Dane is roaming around, I would totally be fine with having the big guy give him a bit of a hard time. After all, they'll have to get to know each other better at some point anyway! XD

Daneth limped through the

Daneth limped through the forest, bleeding from several large gashes from his fight with the angry red stag. He’d had no idea why the stag had attacked him and he’d been caught unaware. The stag had gotten several good hits in on him before he was able to fend him off. When the golden buck approached, he watched him warily, leaning against a tree and panting. He was still quite winded, he wasn’t ready for another spar. He tried to limp away but fell to one knee, scraping it. He grunted in pain and got to his feet again. The golden stag had come a little closer. He tried to snort threateningly but the effect wasn’t very intimidating, since he was leaning against the tree again.
Uruushou's picture

Liam had noticed the wounded

Liam had noticed the wounded stag from afar, and perhaps against his better judgment he had approached him too fast. He recognized the stag, surely; it was the same one that had drove him away from a small doe despite the fact that Liam was being nothing but courteous. At this time, however, he was not afraid, for it seemed that the stag was too wounded to get up and attack him. Liam soon gazed at the stag from a few feet away, and frowned when he took in the state of the dark-pelted deer's wounds. Swallowing down the lump in his throat, Liam stepped a little closer...and jumped slightly when the other stag snorted. It was weak, however, and Liam was surprised to find himself undeterred by the threat.

"P-Please...good sir, I will not hurt you. Are you...are you alright? What happened?" the golden buck spoke softly as he continue to slowly close the distance between them. Extending his neck, he lightly sniffed in the other stag's direction, hoping to come off as friendly as possible.

Daneth leaned heavily against the tree, his muscles trembling to keep him upright. The golden buck had jumped at his snort but then spoke to him kindly. He seemed quite…timorous actually. Daneth relaxed a degree and sagged more against the tree. “I’m fine. Thank you. he said a bit raggedly. “Just a bit winded is all.” when the golden buck made no more threatening moves, he lowered himself down, grunting slightly in pain and from the effort. “Just a little roughed up is all. I’m just going to catch my breath a bit then I’ll be off.

((No problem! But ack, time for bed for me! Have a good evening. Smiling ))

The young buck breathed a

The young buck breathed a small sigh of relief when the stag made no attempt to attack him after all...or even tell him off. His voice was rough and deep, but there was a gentleness to it that made Liam feel a little more comfortable. Liam nodded his head as the one named Daneth spoke, and he gingerly took a few more steps toward the wounded buck before lowering himself to the ground beside him. Turning his head, he looked Daneth over and frowned. The buck was large and powerful, truly, but the wounds were fierce. "Would you like some help? If those wounds got infected, it could be devastating. I have some knowledge of the healing properties of herbs," Liam offered quietly, softly chewing on his bottom lip.

(Eep, alrighty then! Have a good night, and thank you! <3)
Sighthoundlady's picture

The young buck seemed

The young buck seemed friendly enough. It was rather bold of him to sit beside him like that. Daneth could see now though that he was actually concerned about him and truly wanted to offer him help. Daneth allowed himself to smile kindly at the golden buck, then winced from one of his injuries. “I would gladly accept any healing knowledge you might like to share, young buck.” he said and nodded courteously. “I am called Daneth, he greeted. He really should have risen and bowed properly but he wasn’t sure he would be able to do it without falling over and he wasn’t about to show that kind of weakness in front of this new stag. He tried to hold as still as possible to minimize the pain and help halt the bloodflow.
Uruushou's picture

A soft smile graced Liam's

A soft smile graced Liam's features when the stag accepted his offer. It was truly a relief; not only was he being friendly, but he was not stubborn enough to refuse help. The golden buck just couldn't sit by and watch a fellow deer suffer, and now would be a good time to practice what his old mentor preached. The young buck bowed his head gratefully and replied, "It is a pleasure, Daneth. My name is Liam." He then stood and gave a little bow out of habit, and then gently nudged Daneth's muzzle with his own. "I shan't be long; there are special flowers not far from here. I will be back," Liam explained, and then galloped off quickly.

Indeed, he was not gone for more than ten minutes, and he returned with a bundle of yellow flowers between his teeth. His brow knitted in concentration, he dropped the flowers atop a smooth rock and ground them up with his hooves, and then using the tip of his muzzle he applied the paste to Daneth's wounds. "I am sorry...this will sting, but it will help. It will curb infection and clean out the wound," Liam said softly as he went about his work, silently thanking Ishibaba for having taught him at least the basics of common herbalism.
