Well guess what?

I got internet in my hotel room.

And so, I have decided to make a blog chronicling my 3 days of being here in Long Island, at a convention called Icon.

Day 1

We left at about midnight Thursday night.

The drive was roughly 6-8 hours long, with 2 ten minute stops in between.

I spent most of my drive playing Pokemon Heart Gold, only for the battery to die just as we hit the city early morning.

The city traffic was horrendous, and our driver, Leo attempted to switch lanes, only to just about cut off Alex, another one of our drivers, causing him to rear end another one of our drivers, Mike. Mike's car is fine, there's barely a scratch on it. Same to Alex's car.

The hotel told Alex that they could check in at 11am, and we planned accordingly; only to get there and find out that they won't allow us to check in until 3pm. Lovely. Oh, and we got there at 9:30am.

We ended up hanging out in the lobby, and I tried my hardest to go to sleep; I sprawled out on one of the couches, only to be woken up an hour later, with one of the guards saying "You can't sleep here." So, I ended up going across the street with a few friends and getting something to eat.

By the time we got back (Noting that I almost got hit by a car when crossing the street), we got our rooms, but we had no time to take a shower, as we had to go to SUNY Stonebrook, and register for Icon. The line was long and it took us an hour just to get registered. When we got in though, Mike, who had been to Icon several times, guided us around, showing us where everything was. When we hit the dining hall for dinner, I was amazed by the whole thing. It was completely different from Canton, and I found myself overwhelmed by everything. Their tuna fish was amazing, and the grapes...<3

We decided to browse the dealer's floor, and the place is huge. There's a lot of places, and I found 2 things I purchased, and 2 things I didn't purchase, in the hopes that they'll have a sale Sunday, and I can get a deal on them.

I purchased a fox tail (Not a real fox tail, mind you), which Christine just broke when trying it on. No big deal, someone's got a hot glue gun for it.

I also purchased the Complete Collection of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumia, and I can't wait to watch it at some point.

I'm waiting to purchase a medium-sized Gizamimi (The Notch-Eared Pichu) plushie, and a large Sonic plushie.

Blah...I am completely out of mind right now...most likely...shower, then passing out for the night, seeing as how I got little to no sleep the previous night.

Day 2

Went to bed at about 12:30am.

Woke up at 9am to cellphone alarm, fell asleep, woke back up at 9:30am.

Decided to wear my fox tail; I adore it <3

Stopped at a convenience store just before going to Icon. Had a container of dry cereal, and orange juice for breakfast.

Did some walking around with the group, and watched the Shaolin Monks perform. It was quite fun to watch.

Broke off the group to participate in a Super Smash Brothers Brawl tournament, and lost in the first round. Didn't help that the person's Brawl game I was playing didn't have either of my mains (Lucario and Sonic), and the only character I could use remotely well was Fox. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Grabbed lunch and reunited with Shamira, Alex, Jen, Joe, and Geil. We went to go see Micheal "Mookie" Terracciano, talking about how to write memorable heroes and villains. He was a very funny guy, and I enjoyed his little hour talk about the subject.

Went back to the dining hall, since Joe and Geil hadn't eaten, and we ended up going to the dealer's room to see Mookie in person. Alex bought one of his comics, and got an autograph from him; it was a sketch version of Alex. Quite nice.

Broke off from the group, and went to go see "AMVs 101" at 5pm. Quite interesting, and fun to see as well. I knew most of the stuff there, honestly though...

Went to eat dinner, then left to go to "Worst Fanfic Crossovers Ever" at 7pm. Winner of the night: Monty Python/The Crow. Other mentions include: DBZ/Hannah Montana, Harry Potter/iCarly, Stargate/Lord of the Rings/Smurfs, Hellsing/Abraham Lincoln. Yes, these all exist. Last year's winner was the now-famous Anne Frank x Goku story.

Found Christine and Kelsey at the dining hall. I was gonna stay and watch the AMV Showcase at 9pm, but I was completely burnt out, and just wanted to come back to the hotel. We took the shuttle back.

Christine and Kelsey are going to a masquerade going on tonight, but I'm staying here. I'll probably shower, and do whatever...once again, I'm pretty burnt out.

Remember that Best of MTK video you showed me? I saw someone there with a very light wooden cutout of the 3 guys sitting in the audience. She was in the middle, with the other two on her side =3

Day 3

Got up at 9:00am, since we wanted to leave at 9:30 for Icon.

Turns out, the quickest was there was blocked off by cop cars due to some jogging thing. Nonetheless, we got there after traveling some back roads and such.

Got to the dealer's pit, and finally bought the Sonic plushie for about $24. Unfortunately, the Gizamimi plushie was sold out. I did buy a beautiful Lucario sculpture however <3 I also bought a chain nail necklace with a wolf pendant.

Overall, I got quite a few nice things. I'll probably update this tomorrow or whatever with crappy webcam pics, since my digital camera is dead, and I left the charger at home on accident.

We left for college at noon.

The ride back was chaos. Long story short, DummyDumb took us on the wrong exit, and it took us an hour and a half to meet up with everyone else again. DummyDumb II then took the wheel, only to get pulled over by a cop at the Latham exit because the rear taillight was out. Apparently, one of them almost got arrested as well. More details later after squeezing some info out of Jen >D

By the time we got back on the road however, we ended up taking our own routes home. My car was the last to arrive.

Overall, a stressful, yet fun trip. I'll update this later with a list of cosplayers I noted and whatnot. I'm a bit tuckered right now, and I got some things I want to work on.
