Homemade Heat Packs?

reoplusone's picture
Has anyone else ever tried these things? 'Cuz these are seriously amazing. Old sock + minute rice + microwave = no more pain. Mmmmm...

So tasty. Sorry, I swear it feels so nice I had to write about it somewhere.

SO share your homemade things and ideas!

Not really a made-process,

Not really a made-process, but keeping honey on one's face for about ten to twenty minutes to help get rid of acne. :3

Oregano oil to kill off infections in the body.

Mint/mint tea to soothe stomach aches.

Exposing the backs of one's knees to sunlight (particularly just after waking) to become more alert. (Not kidding- learned it in psychology class!)

Epsom salt (two tablespoons or less- no more!) is a bath to soothe muscle pain/general unwellness.

Uh...if I think up more, I'll toss them up! I know there are hundreds of thousands...

< ^.^ > heat packs = luff!

< ^.^ > heat packs = luff! <3 I make mine by sewing them into the shapes I want, then filling them with either rice or flax seeds, and a mixture of peppermint leaf, chamomile, rose, and some lavender. <3 You can chill them by putting it into a plastic bag and into the freezer for a few hours, or heat them in the microwave. <33333 sooooo nice.

Or how about the old fashioned 'cough syrup'/'expectorant'? You take one medium sized onion and slice it a few times - stick it into about 2 cups of warmed honey and let it sit for about 24-48 hours... then take out the onion and take a couple tablespoons of the honey for your coughing...
< >.< > tastes better than most cough medicines I have had... *lol* it loosens up the congestion and makes it easier to cough the phlegm out of your lungs.

*is full of random stuff like this..... has to resist the urge, and makes tea instead* <3

I've been wanting to make one

I've been wanting to make one of the microwavable heat packs for a while. We have loads of plushies that warm up like that, or if you put them on the radiator they're real cosy.

I'll have to try that honey and onion thing... sounds like an Appetizer!!

I've never heard of that. I

I've never heard of that. I wish I had a couple months before, when I had the flu. XD

And please, don't feel you need to stop! These things fascinate me!

Though, you really are selling that tea... >w> *Glances to kitchen.*

They're also really good to put in the freezer if you're really hot. Then you have a cold pack.
