--------------------------------------------
It was snowing today. Faytha had always liked snow, and today, it was more welcome than usual. It wasn't too long ago that she had slipped up infront of the one stag that counted. She said something wrong, which gave him a clue... Not a good thing for someone who wasn't quite ready yet.
Faytha sat in a sunspot. Her golden pelt shimmered with melted snow. Her feathers, again, wet with snow, drooped down under the weight of the cold droplets. Her mask lay before her, it's angry, yet inviting expression staring back at her. She sniffled, blinking her hazel eyes to take away the tears. She was crying for a bit, but decided it was enough for now. Her eyes were red, they slowly scanned the area. She was sure she was safe, but he could appear at any moment.
And hiding from him was hard. Almost impossible. He had a very sharp eye, just like his father's. Her shiny pelt was pretty hard to keep under wraps as well. Faytha sighed. Why now? She was entirely not ready, but she just blurted it out clearly. Now, she was pretty sure he knew. She didn't want to face him, simply for the fear of his rejection. But what could she do? She couldn't hide until she was over him...
Maybe facing him would help...

Snow. His gray eyes watched
He froze.
It was Faytha.
Now his thoughts drifted to the other day, remembering how awkward the moment became. He blushed at recalling the nuzzling, but was confused at why she left so fast. He'd thought he'd done something wrong, and was still unsure. So many confusing thoughts kept swirling through his head, and the conversation he'd had with his father the other day had done little to halt them.
Steeling his nerves, Spade took a few tentative steps toward Faytha, hoping she would see him soon so he wouldn't startle her, but also hoping she wouldn't in case she decided she didn't want to be around him.

Something crunched not too
There he is... Well, there's no turning back now. Swallowing the last of her tears, she stood up slowly. She never took her eyes off him for the first few minutes. But once she decided to step towards him a little, she couldn't stop staring at the ground. She didn't talk to her father about this at all. She didn't know what to do...
Well, her doe intuition would tell her. At least she hoped it would. Faytha stopped, afraid to go any further. They were still quite a ways away from each other, more approaching was needed to actually talk. It suddenly occurred to Faytha... that not too long ago, they were only fawns. And Spade was just a little cutie. Now? After almost fully growing into their bodies, things were all too different. It wasn't as simple anymore. Spade was more than a little cutie now. At least to her he was...
---
So he hadn't startled her,
Cue more confusion. And some more blushing.

Faytha saw his hooves come
Great... Just great. It isn't bad enough she had to confront him, she had to do it with an exposed face? That didn't seem very fair, seeing as how Spade got to keep his on. She couldn't do anything abuot it though. She couldn't turn back just for a mask. She crept closer still, hoping he wouldn't be right infront of her, as if she had taken great strides. No, he was still a little ways away. She glanced up to look at his face for the briefest of moments.

Spade inched a bit closer,

Faytha, ever-so-slowly,
Faytha pursed her lips a little, then took in a shaky, deep breath. "H-hi.. Spade..." she squeezed, her throat partially choking up, but relaxing after a few seconds.
---
He saw her face slowly raise
Her voice was strained as she greeted him.
Fighting to keep from looking away shyly, he replied, "H-hello F-faytha.." Ah, Darn that stutter that liked to popped up when he was nervous! "H-how..are you?" He mentally winced at that question. Oh, how he wanted to beat his head against a tree again!

Her ears lowered. How was
Fine? She was fine? What a word to use at this time. He should know she wasn't fine. Beside the fact she could barely speak, when she did, she spoke utter lies. This wasn't helping. No point in beating around the bush. "Actually... I.. I want to say... I'm sorry about.. yesterday..." It was all she could think of. What would he say to that? She was too afraid to find out, but it was too late now.
---
'Fine'. He thought she might
Then she apologized. 'Why did she...? There's no reason to...'
"But...you don't--" His face was really burning now. "There's no reason to apologize. I--" he cut himself off, surprised he hadn't passed out from how hot his face was. He'd almost said he liked her. But did he really? Spade went over what his father had told him before.
'If there’s someone you can’t stop thinking about…someone you look forward to seeing more than anyone else…someone you constantly hope to see, even just catch a glimpse of them…then that could be like.'
"...I think I like you..."
[[That last bit was a quiet mumble. =B]]

Faytha slowly shifted her
I know I shouldn't apologize...... Should I tell you?...
There was a quiet statement. Her ears perked, and she looked up slightly, knowing it came from him. Did he just say... "W.. W-what?..."
---
Spade was looking anywhere
Again. Again he wanted to bang his head against a tree. ...though didn't he do that already? It would probably make no difference then. He'd probably built up an immunity to it. That, or he had a hard head. But the stag was letting his thoughts get away from him.
She'd heard what he said. Now he didn't know what to do. All he could do was wait to see how she responded.

The Dragonfly Deer's Biography
Faytha took a step forward.
Did she hear him right? Did he just say... No, that couldn't be right. As if... I mean, I don't seem like his type... No... No it isn't true... It never was... Her thoughts changed to denial. It was too good to be true for her, she refused to believe it. But, it was true.
"What... did you say?..." She tried again, but he just kept silent. She looked down, it was no use. His mouth was clamped shut thanks to her. Faytha sighed, "You can tell me the truth... you know... I'll still think you're my friend either way..." She tried it, but she knew when others tried that, they still ended up never talking again. It was still worth a shot...

Spade was sure his face
He didn't think he could say it again. Not when he wasn't sure how she'd react. Instead, he did something he considered crazy.
He closed the remaining gap between them, shook off his mask, and brushed his cheek against hers in a soft nuzzle.
It felt...right to him.
The stag stayed close, carefully meeting her eyes muddied green eyes to gauge her reaction. He could still feel excess warmth in his cheeks.

The Dragonfly Deer's Biography
Instead of an expected
She just remained still, waiting for whatever Spade would bring to her. She was certain it was a sign of rejection. She was just about ready to bolt again. But instead... W-What's he doing? What is this? Why..... Does he... He's so warm... Faytha was totally red now. A nuzzle was definitely not something she was expecting.
She knew now. She knew what it meant. A smirk met her face, she started breathing hard, as if she would start crying again. What now? He wouldn't talk, so she had to guess? She was too shocked to say anything now anyway. All she could to was breathe and shake.
---
Spade's eyes widened
He blinked, starting to worry. "Faytha...are you alright?" There might not be anything wrong, but he had to know for sure.
---
The Dragonfly Deer's Biography
He was close, but not close
Faytha stepped forward to embrace Spade, neck hugging neck. His fur was so soft to her, though a little wet from the snow. She didn't want to let go, this was just what she wanted. "Spade..." It was all she could say. She rubbed her bare face on the back of his neck softly. Her eyes seemed to brighten a little, going back to the grassy green they once were a few days ago.
