game lagging, and glitches

So sometimes my game lags, and today it's particularly bad. It's hard for me to see what others are doing since it so often looks like they're not moving, and it seems to last a long time. I think I'll just have to give up for now.

If this happens in the future, you might see my deer acting strangely, reacting slowly or not at all, stop moving for a while, appear to be stuck in an animation loop (like running in place), or appearing to "teleport" from one place to another.

I don't know why this is happening now, considering I never used to have problems with lag except when in huge groups. I also seem to have more connection problems than I remember having in the past. I don't know if those are related or not.

Additionally, I've had some odd glitches that I never used to have. Sometimes I see deer without their set, or missing part of their set. It seems to be fixed if I (or presumably someone else) cast a spell on them and then they sneeze it off (so if my deer randomly casts a spell on yours, I might be trying to fix that glitch, though in some cases it might also be a form of play).

One time I saw someone with my picto, and the default pelt, but still had the skull mask and noh antlers, and their correct picto was on the map. Today I just had someone show up as nameless--they appeared to have the entire default set as well as my picto, while the map showed the correct picto. So, again, my deer might act strangely if this happens, and it's another reason I might randomly cast a spell (to check if what I see as a nameless is really a nameless, especially since the map isn't always right).

I have a tip for you: lower

I have a tip for you: lower the graphics quality. My game used to lag while there were groups of deers, but once I removed the shadows in the display options, my game stopped lagging.

I haven't played with shadows

I haven't played with shadows for a long time. I have everything as low as I can stand it. Although, I think I may have forgotten to turn down the character detail, but that never seems to do much anyway. Anyway, lag isn't usually an issue for me, only once in awhile.

This is the only game I have any problem with, but I guess TEF just doesn't have the powerful servers other games have.

Sounds more like connection

Sounds more like connection troubles than anything else.

My game will sometimes go into 'limbo' where no one moves for me/they repeat the same actions over and over (but other people can usually see me moving just fine, it's only an issue on my end). Sometimes I have set and picto glitches, too. This is usually when I'm struggling to get a picto spread at all, lasts for a few weeks or a few months and seems to be an issue with the server or my internet (usually the former...).

Your issues really remind me of those. What's your usual fps and does it drop dramatically during these occurances? if that's not dropping, it's likely connectivity issues. If that's the case, then there's really not much that can be done to my knowledge :C just wait it out or see if there's an issue with your internet, in my experience.

My FPS is usually around

My FPS is usually around 10-13, and I haven't noticed it change much if it all when I'm lagging. I have had problems connecting. So it sounds like that's likely to be the issue, then. My wifi connection is a little funny sometimes, but I don't have any other way to connect to the internet.

Do you know if there's a

Do you know if there's a firmware update available for your router? I'd recommend investigating that first since this sounds like a new behavior.

It's been a few years,

It's been a few years, actually, but I wasn't playing TEF then. I can take a look, though. I just wonder about our current provider, because we've also had trouble with the TV losing its signal now and then, and it's connected to the same thing.

Ugh! That does not sound like

Ugh! That does not sound like fun :/ Your ISP should be able to help, or at least point you in the right direction (and if they don't, I will personally kick their butts for you).

I'm pretty sure my mom's

I'm pretty sure my mom's talked to them more than once but whatever they do doesn't last.

Ugh everything is excruciatingly slow today for some reason. Although that does happen sometimes, just not very often.
