So? You must be the new stag around these parts. Well you came to the forest at the wrong time my son, yes you did. Oh, so you wanna know why? Well I’ll tell ya, it all begins about hundred years from now. There was a deer both greater and stronger than us; His antlers where large and wide with prongs at the end that curved backwards. He had thick fur so he could with stand the harsh cold.

He was called the Great Irish deer, and there where many of them. They roamed the plains. But some minor problems began to appear. There was a shortage of females so it was hard to really populate. Others have theory of strange things with long sticks would hunt and kill them, or that food became short, or the weather began to change. Soon after it was all said and done they became extinct.

Well, some went down fighting. But most submitted and that’s really why there’s none today. Soon our forest began to take root and the plains disappeared. Now all that remains of there deer is grass produced by there bodies. But, there was one deer that did not turn to grass, oh no, he was incased in very hard and cold shell. But in some way it was like a freezer, but he was more like rotten meat.

Well the forest got hotter and sunnier. Now just to tell ya I’m not all of a science stag but I believe his case melted. His soul still remained in his carcass. He remembered his past, and he seeked revenge. He arose from the ground, his face was gone it was all skull, his hoof bones showed and blood trickled down them like water. His shoulders where gashed and as well as his sides; his rib cage was showing! And his antlers, his beautiful black antlers turned blood red, and his fur turned dead grey.

He arose to our world in a fog unable to see the trees and the rest around him. Deer smaller than him came around to gawk and gaze at the frightful deer. He thought they where inferior. He stomped his hoof and out of the ground bats flown covering the small crowed. There coats where black with strange markings like skeleton markings. There faces where white human skulls and they had black miniature sized antlers that look much like his.

Now he planned on using the deer as crones but there was one problem. They still had there emotions which meant they could only be controlled by so much. His anger grew and he arise another plan to turn the deer dead! And that’s what he did. And still to this day we have a few of his minions riding about with white skulls on, or big blood red antlers.
And he arises mainly every fall around October, and he runs around the forest calling upon his minions! Yes he’s real he is all to real, and all to happy to have slaves. But some don’t even now him and rarely see him. Because sometimes he hides in our regular deer forms, looking like a regular deer. And minions are giving others the mask or antlers and not recognizing him? But when the fall comes it doesn’t matter if you know him our not you’re his till you take the mask, coat , or antlers off that that’s final!

Yeah I bet you be shaking in your hooves now? You hear that loud cracky roar? Yeah, well that’s them calling me, I’ll see you later and oh take this. That’s a human skull mask you wearing now, and everyone deserves a chance to really see and serve the dead deer.

….Revenge is even sweater when someone else is doing it for you, and once I gathers you all up…By tonight well be killing and warning off humans flying in the air with your one true master! Let our blood stain the sky as the I fly by, and let our loud echoing cries be heard as we fly! Until the dawn scares the night let this be the night when we arise to bring terror and fright! Come one and all to the true day off fall!

Oh, I'd always known them as

Oh, I'd always known them as Irish Elks, never heard them as Great Irish deer. Oh well.
Nicely written there, liking it! I'd always seen the antlers as Irish Elk (or whatever) antlers, and have a fawn waiting to grow up with an Irish Elk set.
