Character quirks/oddities:

Ysrael's picture
Over the year I've been here (gosh, has it been that long?) I've noticed that each of my deer have picked up their own little habits within the forest. I found this interesting, so I thought I'd list them here...

Feel free to tell me any special personality traits of your deer, as well! I'm curious~

Orin:
- never seems to leave the birch forest
- unless it is to pick up poppies or rummage through the ruins
- has taken to blatantly following other deer who enter the birch, instead of fleeing from them
- is rather oblivious to most 'social cues'
- tends to 'scout the perimeter' of the birch forest, occasionally stopping to stare at random passerby
- prefers to keep at least a ten-pace distance from other deer
- prefers to sleep in the blue bowl, old oak, or rock shelter in the playground
- seems to like the company of fawns
- becomes extremely unsettled/disoriented if out of the birch forest for too long
- can sometimes be found sleeping in the ruins cage
- will often stand frozen for long stretches of time

Riet:
- is the most 'laid-back' of all my characters, most inclined to play
- which is probably attributed to his long lifespan; he's learned that joy is a far better emotion to entertain than any other
- is very protective of deer he has met, most especially fawns, does, and young stags
- feels deep respect and admiration for older stags, views them as fellow 'protectors' of the forest
- tends to not spend much time in the ruins; he's seen far too many cemeteries in his lifetime
- has a keen memory of every pictogram he encounters
- tends to not approach large crowds unless invited, even if he longs for company
- can often be seen sitting atop the largest rock in the playground and, more recently, on the bridge
- harbors a liking for dandelions
- prefers not to share his inner emotions with others, unless asked to
- is far more interested in the lives of others rather than reliving his own
- is not adverse to shedding his skull for long periods of time, sometimes done as a sign of trust to other deer, as in 'I have nothing to hide from you, I show you my true self'
- detests the cage of the ruins

Ysrael:
- has a sort of love/hate relationship with the ruins
- enjoys swimming in the pond and resting under the willows there
- will hide under the bridge/in the 'hidden' ruins room if unhappy
- often sleeps atop the broken ruins pillar
- often finds it difficult to voice her emotions/opinions
- craves physical contact
- fascinated by the old oak
- will watch deer that interest her, but seldom follow them
- will often chase butterflies in the hyacinth patches when she thinks no one is looking
- likes to use fallen logs for 'jumping games'
- especially likes casting forest magic
- is also fond of air-sitting, often scouts the forest for new and interesting places to climb to
- is somewhat unresponsive until she comes to know a deer better
- attracted to the great argus pelt/golden pelt
- fearful of showing romantic affection to another deer, because of her gender preference
- can tolerate solace, but prefers being in the company of others

I really like this; they're

I really like this; they're interesting to read, even if I'm not familiar with your characters. Perhaps I'll post some for my own characters in a bit.

It gives insight that I think is sometimes difficult on just a bio. Little quirks... Yeah, I like this a lot X3 I love how developed and unique your characters are. You're one of the few people that I see in the forest and think, "Oh, that's Riet," instead of, "Oh, that's Ysrael's deer!" XD

@munkel: If you ever do, I'd love to see them :>

@shaku: ohh, that is a huge compliment, thank you. ♥ I think the same for your characters as well.
Nayu's picture

I haven't been here for

I haven't been here for really long but I guess I've already taken certain habits whenever playing Yeulh or Nayu.

I'll make a small list just for the heck of it, and hope this thread will get more attention, somehow I find knowing little things about how others play very interesting. I would love to meet your deers <3

Nayu:
- There's a playful and childish way I sometimes play him I can't get right with another deer.
Because it has become a behavior pattern followed enough it is almost involuntary, I think it can be listed as an habit.
- somehow can't seem to have this little guy walk into a straight line. Will often follow the bright patterns on the ground when on his own.
- prefers to sleep into rocks or perched into trees.
- feels particularly shy when receiving flowers.
- I have recently noticed Nayu almost never moos.
- likes to squeeze between older deers if sitting with a group. -->Feels a bit disturbed if his body isn't in close contact to others and dislike beeing at the end of a sitting line. It feels cold.

- There is a place near the pond where a young tree without leaves grows, the bareness around it and the ground colors remind him of death. It's very unlikely you'll find him there, unless with friends. He avoids staying into shades if he can, and many places around the ruins and near the oak where colors on the ground are fewer and light is absent too. Colors affect him a lot.
-

Yeulh
- Will often sit in the pond just beneath the fishes gathering so she won't be seen. ( She cast spell from there too and is amused at the reactions it causes.)
- Often doesn't know how to respond to nuzzles from ones she isn't very familiar with, will get a bit flustered or froze completly.
- Her movements are deliberatly slow. She has a knack for making others wait.
- I don't log off with her, but close the game so she usually disappears in a "spoof" of black smoke.
-Will sit by the ruins in a precise spot. She very much looks like a statut then.
-Will follow Nayu around, often from afar, and sit in a high place above him when he is resting. Will cuddle close to him if he's resting alone.
-Will not approach other deers unless they make her feel welcome to do so.
-Shapeshits into a crow to guide lonely fawns toward other deers. Will not leave their sides until they find playmates.

I should stop here. Thanks for making this thread! <3

Anjali's picture

Mmm, this is really

Mmm, this is really interesting. Smiling Here are quirks Anjali has developed so far:

-likes to flower-crown sleeping deer, and will go out his way to do so.
-often sniffs sleepers, especially fawns, to check on them. Has a special fondness for fawns (being a bit of a fawn-at-heart)
-enjoys sleeping in the vegetation on the right side of the Gods' Statues.
-enjoys swimming in the Pond as a frog
-despite his shy nature, entertains a sense of mischief.
-is wary of the Ruins and usually avoids them.
-likes to see others happy, and will do his best to please them.
-loves the musical sound of the Whistler mask, and will blow into it repeatedly if wearing it.
-rarely moos, except in play. His mask magnifies his soft voice into something uncommonly loud and deep when he does.
-he is my only character right now, and is really a reflection of me, in many ways. I tend to play him how I am most comfortable experiencing the Forest...which is both nice and confusing, at times.

>> I wanna add some

>> I wanna add some now...

My quirks...
- As a player, I've come to associate laying at another's feet with complete trust and affection. This is something that all of my characters will do, usually to only one deer.

Vasska...
- He wears poppies whenever he's calm. If he randomly stumbles into poppies (or has them randomly cast on him), he becomes almost drunk, where his mind is rebelling against the calmness forced upon him.
- He's a mama's boy. The only deer he respects is Ravus, so she's the only one who can get him to do something he doesn't want to do. He also almost always seeks her out when he's exhausted himself, and almost always lays directly at her feet. (I always imagine her tripping over him XD)
- Sometimes, Vasska will lay at the feet of his playmates after a rough, exhausting game. This has its own set of issues...

Vodun...
- He wears poppies when he wants to feel an influx of emotion, usually when he's happy. When he's unhappy or sad, he sneezes them off to bury the feelings.
- He only plays with Gustiro and Ysrael. If others are present, he hesitates or doesn't join in at all.
- He only does "kind" things, such as bowing to fawns, when Ysrael is present, and he does so with great self-awareness.
- He only moos during deep distress.

Phylux...
- Most of my deer have a place in the forest where they go to rest. Phylux does not, although whenever I look up, he seems to be resting at the Playground. I didn't choose this place for him.
- He'll "fish" in the pond (drinking in deep water + head-shaking). He also eats frogs and squirrels. He's extremely fond of rabbits, however, and would much rather cuddle with one than sink his beak into it.

Kaoori's picture

Kaoori loves the grass in the

Kaoori loves the grass in the pond. she'll often dig up waterweeds to eat them. And when she's excited or nervous, she starts babbling in Japanese.

I'm not really sure if any of my other deer have quirks.. I haven't seen any. I'm sure as they develop, more will pop up.

Gosh this is interesting!

Gosh this is interesting! Glad you posted it up!
------

Here's some for all of my characters, some may or may not be listen on their bio's:

Dinamo:
-Even though she has had a child, she is still extremely naughty with her mate. o:
-Is awkward when meeting new deer for the first time - just like me.
-Can and most likely will sit and cuddle with those close to her for extended periods of time, usually silently.

Peanut:
-He will sometimes choose to be mute, sometimes he will babble the world away.
-He hates to be on the bad side of deer, will go out of his way to try not to annoy or bother.
-Hes extremely cuddly, and in a way, hes much like a baby.
-If he finds a male who is suitable, he will get extremely attatched to that said stag. If the stag ends up pushing him away, leading him on, or finding another mate, he will refuse to see that stag for a long period of time and will grieve excessively.

Thriae:
-Even though she has suffered from recent memory loss, she is still incredibly attatched to the Crying Idol.
-She is one of my more flirtatious and naughty does, though Dina isn't far behind.

Shiba:
-She will sit like a dog when she is happy or comfortable, which is mostly all the time.
-Will get attached to random stags (and sometimes does) that she may possibly have never met before.
-She is very playful and energetic, but has very good manners.
