Alright so seriously, what does a cracked rib feel like? OR SEVEN holy hell we were working out on Tuesday and ever since, my ribs have been hurting like hell every time I laugh or cough or twist the wrong way, which is a problem since I have a cold and I've been coughing a lot as it were. And I'm always laughing anyways. Then again, the cold is subsiding and I've still been coughing a lot, so that could be something to do with it...but today was the worst. Got to last period before I started feeling really sore and sick not doing anything, like something wanted out of my upper abdomen right then and there. Now every time I strain my torso too much it starts up, and it takes a while standing up for it to calm down. I think it's an eight or a nine on the pain scale, when it happens. If it persists through tomorrow I think I'll go to the doctor ASAP. I'm hoping I didn't do something serious...8| So mainly I'm asking A) What can get damaged in the frontal torso, just below my boobs lol and B) could this be something more serious than a pulled muscle?

OKAY I stop whining now. augh it hurts so much. ;_;

Chances are it is a pulled

Chances are it is a pulled muscle but it could be a strained diaphram too. When your diaphram is stretched it feels like your actual ribs hurt, especially when you cough or stretch your abdomen.

It could be something serious but I doubt it. & yes please go to the doctor. c:

/health nut whos had a strained diaphram before. d:

o_o wow, what sort of

o_o wow, what sort of exercise were you doing?!
Unless you sustained an impact to the torso, I doubt your ribs are cracked, but it sounds like they could be bruised (not them themselves, obviously, bone doesn't do that but the tissue around them can.) Other than drinking lots of lemon tea with honey, to help stop the coughing, I'm not sure what to advise. :C
Get better soon though!

What tally said. It

What tally said.

It certainly does sound like a strain or a spasm, especially since you mention it started after working out. Still would be worth it to go to the doctor, just to get some pain meds for it.

waaaaagh okay thanks guys. :c

waaaaagh okay thanks guys. :c <33333

Question, Tally: Would a strained diaphragm hurt if I sang? I'm in chorus so we do it every day but I haven't been hurting then. :\

Maybe, I don't sing. If it

Maybe, I don't sing. Sticking out tongue

If it doesn't hurt while your singing, (which is when you should be straining it most?) then it might not be that. I sounds more like you over-stressed your ab muscles. You know, those muscles are right over your ribs and bones don't really..'hurt' unless their broken or 'bruised'.
See?
