Adittional Info
About the title "Traum(a)"
Hah, I used a little play on words here. Sadly this is actually only understandable when you knew a bit about german language.
I try to explain anyways...
The german word 'Traum' means 'dream' ... adding an a to id makes the word 'trauma' what has, as far as I know the same meaning in english.
Actually Jack was dreaming while sleeping in the forest, in this dream he experienced this one traumatic day of his past again.
So the 'dream' bacame a 'trauma'.
About the name 'Marie'
You may or may not read this in her bio... Janes actual name is 'Maria Langer'. She's got the same name as Jacks little daughter.
This is probably the only reason why he 'accepted' her as the only person close to him.
It is not sure why he called her 'Marie' after he woke up... either he actually changed her with his daughter in this moment of shock... or he actually used her real name...
About the changed appereance
You also may know i was pondering to change his design again. Sadly I rarely can change a 'living' character's design from now to then... in Jacks case I needed a good reason why.
There is this saying, that a great shock can turn a persons hair white. And so I came up with this.
... but actually it shouldn't be _that_ long. |D planned 3 chapters turned into 6... no idea how.
About the injury
One of the officers shot at him. Somehow this injury turned 'real' after waking up in the forest again and he will suffer from it the next days...
About the time
Jakob Strauss later known as Jack was born in 1913, that means short before First World War. I can't tell much about those first years, since he simply did not 'tell' me yet.
Anyways, the events that made him, step by step, to what he is now happend mainly during the Period of nacional socialism.
I don't know why I choosed this... maybe it is just me but i have the feeling for german people it is always a kind of difficult to write about things concerning NS-time... without getting labelled as a 'Nazi' or better 'Neonazi'... or to be put in charge to 'glorify' this time... nevertheless I couldn't imagina another time where his story could take place... do destroy a person and a mind as extremely as Jack's it was a very destructive time needed. But later more at the 'Backgrounds'
About the place
I choosed Hamburg out of all the citties that were destroyed at that time, because it is the citiy I live nearby, where a part of my family comes from and still lives and which I really love.
Of course I can only roughly tell how it was to live there around '43 but i can tell how it is today... more than I could tell, for example... about Berlin. I felt 'save' with this place and so I could write without worries.
Backgrounds
24th / 25th July 1943
This was the first night of 'Operation Gomrrah'. 761 bombers spreaded their load on the city. Around 1500 people died in this first bombardement and the fires afterwards.... this was actually a 'small' beginning... the next bombings on 26th/27th caused a massive firestorm thad destroyed nearly everythin... approximately 35.000 people lost their lives.
The 'Operation Gomorrah' went on until the 3th Augst, alltogether seven times the citty was under attack. Around 42.000 people lost thier lives, about 100.000 got injured.
Of course Hamburg was ot the only city that got destroyed. At the biginning of 1945 45 of germany's 60 most importan cities were destroyed.
The Experiment
It is fact that during the period of national socialism human subject research was practiced, often in the most cruel and horrible way.
Also it is said that the NS-Regime had some certain connections to occultism. There are several theories, often inconsistent about this... and just a few proved facts...
... this is where the fiction in Jack's story beginns:
He is the product of one of those experiments. The attempt to create a 'human weapon' by combining meicine, science and okkultism.
Before he was 'created' severel more than less failed 'models' where created... all too weak to fight or simply not able to live.
The last one before him was a kind of successful, it had only a few flaws that, so the assumption, erased by the next try.
For all those 'tryouts' they used 'inferior' humans... for the next and most likely sucessful try they needed a more adequad 'object'
Jack was choosen.
Sadly this experiment wasn't as successfull as they hoped. He indeed was strong and fast... he learned quicker than before, his stamina and his self healing abilities increased also developed the ability to see in the dark.
But he also developed massive weaknesses as well. His bones were now lighter than before, threfore also much easier to break. His eyes got too light sensitive, daylight caused massive pain to him, also his mind seem to develope certain 'instabilites', it got harder to 'controll' him the more he was under stress.
The Question
So last but not least: The question I wanted to ask you:
I wanted to write down Jack's 'whole' history for longer now. With this stories I posted here I finally figured out how I could write them down.
Of course all those stories won't have anything to do with the forest anymore, so there is no need to post them here... would you be interested in reading them, anyways?
I am not sure but if there is actually some interest I may would post them somewhere else, to not flood the community with not deer related crab xD
