Draak - I can understand that view on the violent events. < ^.^ > Most of the time I avoid it like the plague and am usually an extreme pacifist when it comes down to just about everything. the nameless one has been my exception, and even then he is almost always peaceful. I don't actually think the rut turned out so badly, or maybe I missed something (which wouldn't be hard... i'm not around all that much...) but most of the time when I was in the forest things seemed well ordered and with a good-sportsman attitude.

This time around I thought if we gave people an example of a way for them to direct their violence towards a natural process (and it being halloween something a bit this direction isn't so out of place...), since though our forest IS a peaceful place we do have quite a few predatory characters who make things interesting now and then. -maybe if forest dwellers start focusing their morbid vibes on organized events and learn how to 'pair up' for hunting we'll see less RANDOM violence around the forest itself.

*facehugs* don't hate me for holding it, please? The plan is not organized violence and aggression - but seriously more like a game of tag/hide-and-seek where people can have a little fun and a good stretch.

Don't waste your time with people complaining about violence, LightTheSky. It's people like that, that make it impossible to say 'Merry Christmas' anymore without starting a damned debate.

I mean, doesn't anyone see how gory The Path is? How about the BZD? He's a zombie for cripes sakes! The Forest gets scary at halloween!! Certainly the Forest is more peaceful usually, but, I doubt it's against Michael and Auriea's wishes that we keep developing our deer, with emergent gameplay and the introduction of a little bit of harmless spooky fun!

It's events like this, and the Rut, and all the other player-invented nonsense like the Deermuda Triangle that make this game great.

So obviously you can tell I support you 1000%.
Count Zelig in as a Hunted, though he will certainly not go down easily!

Dag - <3 I've been contemplating exactly how to work it out so that non-participating deer don't end up involved. There will actually be a few rules on etiquette that help everyone to distinguish who is what and when it is alright to 'hunt' something/someone.

I was also thinking that it might be a good idea for the hunted to all wear the default pelt, and the hunters to run through the idol for the red pelt before the hunt so that it is easier to tell who-is-who.

< ^.^ > it won't just be looking for pictos on the map, but I do wonder if having a picto will be somewhat important so we don't accidentally traumatize unknowing deer with our wicked hide-and-seeker skillz. >XD I'll be working on the rules over the weekend so we'll have a better idea of how/what to prep for...


Please don't pick on Draak for disliking the violence in the forest. It's good to hear both sides of the issue so we can find ways to make things pleasant for EVERYONE. <3

See, this will go out of hand just like the rut, people did not stick to the participants and harrassed deer who were not participating. People will get so caught up in trying to maul some other deer they'll find other random targets and forget who is on the list.

And quite honestly, if you're still so hitched against it, no one said you had to join in, and so it isn't your problem. Just play with those who aren't involved, just like in the Rut, and there is no problem.
See this is the problem, there will be little to no one who ISNT participating. Just like in the rut. It was hard for me to find anyone NOT participating.

But that's the thing, it seems that only a small amount of people "mind" and stick to what it was and what it was meant to be. It seems that no one cares that this place is slowly turning into a violent gorefest.

Not all of us are so open to bloody, violent, gut bursting things. Not all of us enjoy it like most of the newbies that have come here. I am not convinced that it will stay contained or organised. The Rut wasnt that way, even though people said it would be.

Now hold on there just a second. Draak made loads of derogatory comments in this thread about the event- not so much stating an opinion as politely as others have, but basically making us all feel bad for doing something fun.

How can it be bloody or gorey? There cannot be gore in the endless forest, because there's no graphical programming for blood! No one is actually going to see blood spilt from other deer, or any such /real/ attacks! Read the first page- it's all fluff! Essentially it's a big game of tag under the pretend premise of a hunt. Like an easter egg hunt- you're not going out and shooting eggs, are you? You're wandering around a garden looking for candy.

As for the rut, most sparring matches ended in dance circles, giggles and prancing.

Draak jumped on this thread and was bitter and unthoughtful. I think we have a right to retort by politely explaining that his or her assumptions are not the actual case of the matter.

Crimson - < T-T > I'll try and hold it for as long as I can be there, I know there are MANY who are in school at that time and we'll miss everyone who doesn't get to attend.

My daughter gets OUT of school after that point, and the roommates get home, and then I'm cooking supper, and helping with homework, and planning out the weekend... yark. So it's hard for me to stay on much past that point.
