This story consits of events of a couple of nights ago~

I lay next to him, the beautiful stag. His icy blue eyes, matched his pelt, and a silvery blue and white coloured one. Large, white curved antlers. His entire body was beautiful, one of the most so that I have seen in a while. I promised myself that I wouldn’t fall in love with anyone again. Not after what happened with Mikhail, I know that I can’t take rejection like that again, and yet, like a masochist, I’ve set myself up for pain. I’ve fallen in love with ice.

I lay next to him under the trees that I sleep under. Here in this bath of light, will my fate be decided. I have the minor suspicion that maybe Ice has feelings of love for Lightning, and now, I’m going to test my theory.
“Any particular reason that you slept here?” I asked. “Under my trees.” It took a few moments for him to answer, like he was pondering the answer.
“Not really,” He answered, and I laughed.

I wondered if there really was, but then I realised that I was probably making this up out of my sheer hope that he feels the same feelings for me that I feel for him.
“From what I gather, you’ve been spending a lot of time here,” I chuckle nonchalantly. He knows I’m teasing him, I do it a lot. His faces darkens a little.
“Only since last night,” He answered, there was a bit of sadness in his eyes.

It clicked in my mind, Jack and Jergens, had had their climatic battle, I remembered that Kahlan had told me all of the gory details. Like the fact that Jack had been the loser overall, having died after the fight, and she told me about Illrose’s crime.
“I’m sorry about that…I heard from Kahlan…I should have come with her,” I said, and I should have, she was my sister and I should have been supporting her. Then I looked at his injuries. “Maybe then, you wouldn’t have got injured.”

It was then that a little fawn appeared. I hate that. Fawns always appear when I’m trying to get some alone time with him. I have to fall in love with the fawn magnet, just my luck. I hate fawns in general. They annoy me. I think Bartleby, when he was a fawn was the only exception but that’s because he was hundreds of years old and merely stuck in fawn form, but I digress. The fawn quickly left, I think my glare at it might have hastened that.
“I’ll be fine eventually. It’ll take more than that to finish me off,” He chuckled a little.
“Don’t bullshit me,” I retorted quickly.

Looking into his eyes, I could see the sadness that lay there. Jergens had been seriously hurt during that fight, and Jergens was one of his closer friends. He sighed.
“I’m not horrible, but I’ve been better,” He said after his sigh. That was the truth, and probably the most detail I was going to get out of him. He doesn’t speak sadness very well, he’s not like Kahlan or I, he should be more happy.

I thought about his injured leg, he’d been fighting…
“Is your leg alright?” I asked, his mood didn’t lighten yet, he still seemed quite solemn.
“It’s the same as it always is,” He replied. I smiled a little, it was something I supposed.
“I’m glad that you’re…okay…I had been worried after Kahlan told me, but she had told me not to be. Couldn’t help doing it anyway…” I was giving to much away here…I needed to change the subject a little, so I kissed his neck scratches. “How are these?”
“They’re fine if I don’t move them the wrong way,” He answered.

I thought about something, Kahlan hadn’t really told me much about the condition of Jergens.
“How is Jergens? Kahlan said he had been hurt badly, but she wasn’t sure the specifics since she was tired, and fighting Illrose,” I asked. I looked out, and saw that Illrose was nearby, Toukan had tensed up.
“He was in pretty bad shape, but he was alive, when I last saw him,” He answered stiffly as he observed Illrose, clearly worried for Jergens’ safety.
“Kahlan better not find her,” I assured him. “She was greatly offended by her.”
“I don’t blame her for it,” He replied, still stiff. Illrose moved on, that seemed to relax him a little.
“Yeah, I know. She hurt someone you care about, that Kahlan cares about. That would drive anyone to vengeance…for me…it would be if someone hurt you.” I answered, and then realised I’d gave away too much again.

He didn’t answer.
“What are you thinking about?” I asked, noticing that he appeared to have slipped into some kind of thought process. He didn’t answer that one either, so I let him sit in silence for a while, before eventually I had to break the silence. I don’t like quiet.
“I like nights like this one,” I said.
“I’d like it better if I wasn’t injured,” He answered back, sounding happier for the first time since Jergens had been brought up.
“Well, I’ll take good care of you…I promise,” I said with a laugh.
“I’d say no wandering hands…” He said. “If we had hands like this.” I think we both laughed after that one. Time…it was time to try.
“You like it and you know it,” I retorted still with a laugh.

He just gave me a look.
“Come on, admit it, you like me,” I answered. We had a little banter about this for a little while. “Come on, admit it. You can do it.” He didn’t answer for a little while, and he didn’t answer in words. He looked around, noticing that no one was looking, and he licked my cheek. If we had been human at the time, then it would have been like he was kissing me. I was so happy. He liked me.
“Wow…I didn’t expect you to actually do it.” I answered, blown away by the happiness that had begun consuming me. He blushed at that. I told him that I loved him, and he blushed more. He loved me as well and I knew it.

We lay there in silence for a while, before we both began growing tired.
“I love you Toukan,” I whispered, as I was beginning to drift.
“I love you to Kylar.” He answered, and I was filled with pure elation.
“First time you’ve said it,” I commented with a smirk.
“I wanted to say it.” He answered.
“I wanted to hear it.” I let myself drift of after that, I was so happy. Lighting had fallen for Ice, and Ice loved Lightning. The storm settled into happiness.
