He yawned, opened his eyes. He was looking into the sky; saw the ruin's wall pointing up to heaven.

Jack blinked, rolled around, yawned again.

Seemed he fell asleep...

...ah however, it had been a lazy day anyways.
He snickered, stood up...
... stretched...
... made a step...
...stumbled.

"Eh?"

What was that...? His body... felt strange, somehow... different.
Hm... different...
He circled around, took a look on his body.
Suddenly a grin appeared on his scarred face.

He started to giggle...

Was... was it already time... yes?

...the giggle became a laugh.

Yes, yes, finally...FINALLY!

He started to jump and to dance, his laughter became hysterical.

His body was grown.
He was an adult again.
Not a fawn anymore.
Not weak anymore.

The stag was still laughing insanely, his voice echoing through the trees of the forest. He jumped and hopped, danced, and sung...
...suddenly he struggled; fell over one of the logs near the ruin.

He landed with a slap in the dirt... face first.

For a few moments he didn’t move, looking like a grotesque sculpture, placed by an artist with a morbid sense of humor...
Suddenly he started to giggle again, pulled himself up.

The white stag coughed, spat some dust and dirt out he accidentally swallowed.

He sighed, a happy smile on his face.

He hadn't been that happy and excited for a long time...

Jack perked his ears, listened...
... he was searching for someone...
... found her... at the playground...
... of course.

The happy smile darkened. The look on his face became strange...
... his stinging eyes started to shine in this special way again...

He started to move, humming a little melody.
An old German lullaby...
... his humming became singing...

"Der Mond ist aufgegangen.
Die gold'nen Sternlein prangen
am Himmel hell und klar.
Der Wald steht schwarz und schweiget.
Und aus den Wiesen steiget
der weiße Nebel, wunderbar.

He, he, he...

Schwesterlein... oh, Schwesterlein...

... Zeit zu verschwinden."

"The moon has risen.
The golden stars shine
in the sky, brightly and clearly.
The woods stand black and silent.
And magically, from the meadows
the white mist is rising.

He, he, he...

Little sister... oh, little sister...

... time to leave."
