He found himself wandering alot lately. Troubled minds do that to you alot; making you lose sight of where you're going. Walking into a tree, looking around to make sure no one saw it, and then continuing your problematic walk.
Things don't really bother him much. That simple smile always appeared so easily upon his face- it isn't a facade, or a game as it is for others. Happy was Sithrim, Sithrim wa shappy. He had the most beautiful doe in the forest, and their children were so amazing... His brain, his very logic, was quite convinced that happiness was the emotion that should be radiant.
He found himself pondering someone he hadn't seen in... Forever. He does not feel anything but morose.
His brow furrowed upon his handsome face, which was hidden behind a large skull of a deer, while he drew to a halt upon the small slope leading towards the pond. The winter snow had begun to recede in the spring sunlight that cascaded down upon the forest floor; its beauty was all but lost on Sithrim as he absently shook his antlers. All this time in the neverending forests. All the searching, and all the subsequential giving up.
The dark cobalt stag walked steadily to the shallow end of the pond, looking out to the ridge across from him. He was under observance, it seemed, by a creature he could hardly fail to recognize. The Puppeteer's lack of emotion had not changed in the least. The fawn lay beside its master, watching him as well with that excited, naive smile. Sithrim sighed, looking away, and thinking her name to himself.
They say some hearts beat as one.
The blue stag started, snapping his head up and whirling around to see the speaker. The Puppeteer stood, vacant as ever, behind Sithrim, the fawn straying a little to rub against a tree, and proceeded to cast a spell on its indifferent master.
"I don't understand."
This place is a purgatory for some. A dream for others. Even a heaven. There are numerous titles for it.
Sithrim realized the Puppeteer's mouth was not moving- the puppetmaster's voice was echoing within his head. "What are you talking about?" he bothered, but was cut off by the fawn's raucous call. The Puppeteer pointedly looked at the fawn, whom cowered and laid down beneath its master.
This corpse means only to say that it is not impossible to find others here. This place is everything and nothing, the beginning and the end. You are of one half.
The puppetmaster turned away, leading his fawn off towards the Ruins.
Sithrim wanted to run after the odd creature and demand he stop speaking in riddles. His confusion subsided for a moment as he watched the fawn break its strings, and run to the pond. It played in the water, and then halted suddenly, staring with an obscene smile into the surface of the pond. It looked briefly at Sithrim with its quiet demeanor before taking off to where its master had disappeared to.
Sithrim wondered for a moment, before he looked to the pond waters. With some effort, he slid his head from the skull, and allowed his yellow gaze to look into the depths.
For a while, nothing seemed to happen.
He got ready to turn away when suddenly, his reflection rippled, altering its appearance. There she was. Looking back with her elegant face and glorious white fur was Gwenhyfar, watching Sithrim with her calm comfort. She seemed to smile a serene smile before she blinked slowly, turning away and disappearing into nothingness again. Sithrim stared at his reflection, awed and ponderous. There was no doubt about it- though she was older, he recognized her as any sibling would recognize their other piece.
Their other half.
He remembered The Puppeteer then.
They say some hearts beat as one.
